Yesterday I was playing minecraft, no problems. FPS in the triple digits, occasionally dropping down to around 80ish because I was playing on a particle heavy server. Today, I open minecraft, no problem. Except, about every 10s i was dropping down to around 30fps. I used to play on that fps when I had a bad computer, but after being at 100-150 fps for so long it's borderline unplayable. I decided to just restart my computer and minecraft, and when I reopened it the problem got worse, with a constant 30fps. I joined a server that had little to no particles, or anything that would induce any lag really, and I still got like 30 fps.
The weird part is that I've changed literally nothing from yesterday to today. Same installation, same version, even the same server I was playing yesterday at a perfectly acceptable fps count. In fact, I just opened my computer like 30 minutes ago. I have LESS programs open than I did yesterday. Does anyone know what might be happening?
Have you checked for GPU spikes? If not then please open up task manager and navigate to the Performance tab. When the lag happens check if the GPU graph spikes. If it does then it is a possibility that your computer is overheating. Restarting your PC might also help
