The game stops updating at random, mobs, and containers become nonresponsive. Chunks stop loading. I'm new with mine, so no idea how the "engine" works yet.
First, English is not my first idiom, so bear with me. xD
Here's F3 with lagometer on. (Taken while the game was not updating anymore)
The graph on the left keeps updating like that (mostly white), the one on the right is frozen.
Chunks stop generating in the distance. (Not close to where the problem started.)
Some more details:
-Minecraft 1.15.2
-Forge 31.2.27
-I'm running some mods. Tried allocating more/less RAM (From 6Gb to 10Gb), same issue.
-Using default terrain generation and BOP gen reduce the frequency of the problem, it gets worst on TerraForge gen.
Are you playing on a laptop or old PC? Maybe you need a better graphics card. (Although if you can run other games fine, it must be something else.)
He use a "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070" graphic card which does meet Minecraft's system requirements!

Yes! Adding RAM also cause problems, the sweet spot was 8Gbs. (With 130 mods). Plus removed some mods (at random), running with 90 mods now, still happened.
Updated: I was able to replicate the issue with PreGenForge, loading 128 chunks. Around 10% it happened again. So I tried with no mods (besides PreGenForge and TerraForged), it works just fine, 128 chunks loaded in around 40min or so. So, I think you are right, it might be a mod. Now is just a matter of replicating the issue over and over to find the mod(s) causing the issue.

-The game is running on a SATA SSD, same drive as windows (so default installation path).
-Running widescreen 75hz, tried 60hz tho.
-F3+A works fine on preloaded chunks.
-8 chunks distance, tried less, tried more. Tried changing it while the problem was happening and also after it started happing.
