I was trying to play 1.15 modpacks and whenever i press "play" on the minecraft launcher the launcher closes then a grey screen comes up then the launcher opens to tell me the game crashed. There was no crash log and this only happens with modpacks for versions above 1.12 which work fine but i wanted to play newer edition mods. Any ideas on why its crashing?
Edit:
Vanilla forge worked!! I deleted all the mods that came with forge (not sure if that was a bad idea or not) but now it works! Thanks to youngtomlin , majestyc2k1 , and especially SuntannedDuck2 for your suggestions for possible fixes and as for SuntannedDuck2 thanks for giving an exact fix. It is unfortunate that twitch isn't able to work and this is more of a different platform than a "fix" but it still lets me play minecraft
If your using Twitch, look for a folder called Instances under the folder you installed Twitch. The crash-reports folder should be under the specific Instance folder you were trying to play.

I've come to the conclusion that im missing a folder called forge-1.15.2-31.2.20-client.jar but im not sure where to get this as downloading forge again doesn't work.
You don't need to download Forge if your making a Profile with the Twitch App. You select the version of Forge you want to use when you make the Profile.

Failed to find Minecraft resource version 1.15.2-20200515.085601 at C:\Users\Me\Twitch\Minecraft\Install\libraries\net\minecraftforge\forge\1.15.2-31.2.27\forge-1.15.2-31.2.27-client.jar
This is whats causing the crash apparently yet i cant find anything about "Minecraft resource version 1.15.2-20200515.085601" and i cant find any files named "forge-1.15.2-31.2.27-client.jar" i'm completely stuck and cant find any fixes that work online.
At what point are you getting the error? Creating the Profile, or playing the game?
I was able to successfully created a 1.15.2 Profile using that version of Forge. with Twitch. There is a newer version of Forge available, try making a Profile with that one.

I can make the profile and then it brings me to the launcher and when I press start It closes the launcher flashes a screen for a very short time then goes back to the launcher and says the game crashed but i will try using a newer version.
I got the same result with the newest version of forge. Is the version you're using higher than forge-1.15.2-31.2.28 ? and if so could u link me where to download it
My only guess to try is to backup your Twitch and reinstall it, or to try with installing Forge to the Vanilla launcher and copying the installed files to the Twitch launcher (I've done the same with Fabric to get it working that way before Fabric had a better workaround and I think Forge can read files that work on the Vanilla launcher still in Twitch but I don't know for sure).
Otherwise have you tried 1.13.2 or 1.14.4 versions of Forge in Twitch and still gotten the same result, or just installing 1.15.2 without any modloader installed? Otherwise my only guesses are that either something is preventing it, or you don't have enough RAM or something. Only guessing though I don't know for sure.
I used to have issues with Twitch with versions above 1.12.2 around 1.13.2 to 1.14.4 period but they soon worked it out or my system wasn't being too particular on it I assume. But I could link you to the files I have in my install folder that is the latest and see if that works.
Try these files and put them in the Install/Versions folder, you can find the Install folder with the gear/cog icon and select "open folder", then make your way out of the instance/profile folders to where you will see 'Install' then inside Versions paste both of them after extracting the zip file https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Y_oi57aAp7ekDsdT-rHFIR6ELjlj4P8R/view?usp=sharing
The file just contains the latest Forge 1.15.2 I had at the time (31.2.20 and I just got 31.2.28 just encase) along with a 1.15.2 Vanilla setup.
You can get Forge for the Vanilla launcher (regular launcher, Mojang launcher, whatever you want to call it) by going to the official website here: https://files.minecraftforge.net/
Not surprised, I'd say ask Twitch support or just use something like MultiMC instead as MultiMC is the alternative I went for when the Twitch launcher wouldn't work for me: for creating different versions (old and new), making/importing modpacks and so on (only thing is I don't know about uploading them to Twitch as Twitch modpacks have a particular packaging way), if you want to take a look you can find MultiMC here: https://multimc.org/

Without logs, it's impossible to tell. Make sure you look in your .minecraft folder.
