When opening up my world to play minecraft, everything runs very smoothly for the first few minutes. However, things will change eventually and I start getting weird problems. The first and most noticeable is that I can't damage mobs, pick up/toss items, or break blocks(They reappear quickly afterwards). If I mess around with my video settings to try and fix this, I get some lag spikes before leveling out, but things stay the same. Next, if I try and move around or perform other actions, my controls will stop working. They'll freeze up and i'll be stuck doing my current action into about a minute later when I get a loud beeping noise and I freeze up before returning to normal.
I've never seen lag problems like these before and it's only when I open up the minecraft world. Is there any help that someone can provide?

Update. I've noticed that when running, java increases to an absurdly high amount. It's using a memory of about 1,175,000....
