I just made a custom modpack for my private server. It runs fine when I load it through Forge for myself. However, when I zipped it and tried to upload it to Technic, it only loads the vanilla version of Minecraft, and not my mods. Could someone look through and see what I did wrong? I googled various fixes with no success. Feels like I hit a brick wall.
The second link gives a 401 because you've set your modpack to be hidden.
Looking at your pack, it might not like that you've called your jar file "modpack.jar.jar" instead.
EDIT: thinking about it, you can't use dropbox to host modpacks that way anymore, as direct access to the file is blocked. Try setting your pack link to this one http://mentors.tf/BioTech-Modpack.zip
I fixed the typo and uploaded it to my webserver so you are able to download it without a prompt, which is what you need for technic.
This is a reconfigured version I did. I used Bare Bones modpack by Plowman as a base, and just added my mods. It works fine on my end. I changed the dropbox link to ?dl=1 in my Technic page and it still doesn't work. Does the ?dl=1 not correct the problem? I was also wondering if I zipped it incorrectly. That is when the problems start it seems. I am using WinRAR if that helps.
ETA: I just tried the link you made for me with my old file, and it won't load. I'll try it with the new file if you are up for it.
right I tried your second link with ?dl=1 using wget, but the problem is it downloaded as "BioTechMods.zip?dl=0" and I'm guessing this might be happening to the launcher too. Try looking in your technic launcher cache to the file it downloaded.
If all looks good on the outside (i.e. it's a correctly named and uncorrupted .zip) then it's a problem with the way that the pack/zip has been made.
You can use the link below again for your new pack if you need once it has finished uploading:
Next question though, where do I upload my files instead of Dropbox? Or if I upgrade my account will it offer direct links?
I'm not sure about premium dropbox, but I pay like £1.20 a month for my webserver and that would be enough for your modpack to be downloaded about 140 times. £3.05 a month would be enough for up to 1000 downloads.
This is all based off the host I use, SimRai.com, but dropbox would give you unlimited bandwidth if indeed they do allow direct linking.
Hmmm weird, for me it worked, and when I did it for your link it worked, maybe empty out the link click save and wait like 30 mins to give it time to get it in their servers that its blank, then try putting the dl=1 at the end.

140 downloads should be plenty. I don't really plan on making the pack public yet. For now it will be used on my private server, and so far I only have a handful of friends playing on it. Looking at the SimRai option seems very feasible. Dropbox Pro is $8.25/monthly. It would be an absolute waste since I use free sites for anything that I can. Thank you *so much* for your help. I had such a headache yesterday from this, and have been waiting years to make my own pack. Thanks for completing the final step for me! Now to play.

Eureka! It works! Woohooo! Ty so much.

You can use dropbox if you change the dl=0 at the end to dl=1

Well when Juju tried it before it didn't work. Do you have confirmation of that or are you just assuming?
That's what I did but it still didn't work. I don't know why it is reverting back to the 0 when I type in dl=1 on my pack's Technic page.
