There's a weird glitch and the terrain is seriously glitching out. I don't know where this thread would belong but the glitch is in the 1.9 snapshot. Help!!
At one point when I tried to stand on the ground and I was in one block. In the 4th picture, I'm actually somehow UNDER the terrain. I'm not using any mods. It's completely vanilla.
Also, I don't even know why you are using 15 chunk render distance if 4-9 FPS is your typical frame rate; I'd much rather have 50+ FPS even if I had to use 2 chunks (you need at least 10 though to avoid an issue with mob spawning, but that loads less than half as many chunks due to the squared difference).

But other than that its a pretty cool update.
Turn VBO's on in video settings.
The root cause of this issue is outdated graphics card drivers:
MC-62958 Massive Visual Glitching with VBOs off and Chunk distance over a level the graphics card cannot handle (Caused by outdated AMD drivers)

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
ok thank you turning VBO's on worked
