I'm trying to help my cousin purchase Minecraft on his new PC. I am having a similar issue to another user, but did not see any solutions in his thread so I'm going to post this and hopefully get some help!
I've tried to purchase Minecraft with three separate credit cards, and I'm sure they all are in good standing, have enough money, have the correct CVVs/zipcodes. I've also tried to pay using PayPal but with each method run get the following message: "Error Placing Order An error occurred while placing order, please verify credit card info and try again."
Anyone here have any ideas on what might be going wrong or how to remedy this? Thanks so much!
Ok, just tried it on Chromium and got exactly the same symptoms for both credit card and PayPal. (Previous attempts were with FireFox.) Both of these are on Ubuntu 15.10. I'm thinking there must be a problem with the server side because I can't imagine what I COULD be doing across all those changes that would be causing a problem.

I'm having the same problem. I tried two different credit cards, and PayPal. All three result in the same dialog pop-up:
"An error occurred while placing order, please verify credit card info and try again"

Yes. Both of them are, and so is my PayPal information.
Try using a different browser? That's what worked for a friend. Delete all your cookies also. That may work.,
