So, I recently got a new computer, most important parts of this to mention would be:
780 ti
i7 4770k
16 gb ram
As soon as I got on minecraft my game felt really choppy, not all the time, but about 50%+. It feels as though I'm getting 30 fps, even when I am over 500 fps. I tried capping the fps at 120 to see if maybe that would make a different, but it only made it worse. I'm not sure if maybe it has to do with the amount of chunk updates I'm getting, which gets to 500-900 normally. Another thing that is different is my memory. When I watch my used memory in the top right, it goes from 200MB-600MB in less than 3 seconds. This is happening on both 1.7.4 and 1.6.2, and the only mods I'm using are optifine and reis minimap.

This may sound odd but try turning down you mouse sensitivity and upping your dpi? If you don't have dpi just down you mouse sensitivity. Let me know if that helps
I have a 560 and 1.7.4 was very choppy. I downgraded Java 7 to the latest update of Java 6. Now i get twice the framerate and minecraft has not been choppy since the downgrade

Downgrading is generally not a good idea especially since some programs require java 7 and will no longer work

Tried dedicating more ram (2gb) and it didn't work. Same problem at default ram. I'm tempted to try downgrading down to java 6 just to see if that works. I'm also starting to get complete freezes as well in-game now for 1-2 seconds at a time randomly.

Remove optifine. You don't need it with that comp setup. Try that
