as the title says. i'm getting some lag in 1.4.4 patch. and i figure it has to do with the internal server thing. now normally i get a stutter here and there. been that way for as long as i remember. but now i'm getting a clear server type of lag.
where i break a block and it takes a few seconds to break. items on the ground take a few seconds to go in my inventory. not game breaking but a bit annoying. also a minor thing i made a boat and was able to ride it. but once i got out i couldn't break it with any tool, mainly sword and axe. i also have a habit of jumping out of the boat while it is running into a wall, due to the boat breaking into pieces before the latest patches. so i may just have to not jump out while it's moving now.
my pc is an hp pavilion elite hpe-210y
phenom 2 945 quad-core processor 3.00 ghz
8gb of ram ddr3
1 terabyte harddrive
win 7 64bit
graphics card
ATI Radeon HD 5670 memory 2048 MB
catalyst Version: 12.8 [i know i need to update it, newest is 12.10, it's a pain to bother with it]
the whole pc is pretty much stock hardware wise, not over clocked or anything. the only change i have really ever made to the pc itself is the graphics card.
we have dsl ethernet at 750mbs. but we have a business on the same connection with 8 pcs besides mine. so it's is crap, and i can't do squat about it. and i won't screw with any routers or anything because it will hurt or effect the business, which is my brother's.
as for mods, not as much as normal
modloader
minecraft forge
optifine hd u d2
what's my light level [though it doesn't seem to work anymore.]
rei's minimapv3.2_05
backpack 1.5.4
invtweaks 1.4.5-1.4.4
i use magic launcher 1.0.0 as my mod manager
i have about 15 texture packs, that are all out of date, so i'm using the default right now.
on second thought i think this is a memory leak issue. the progressive lag i get is on par with borderlands on ps3, dragon age ps3\pc, fallout 3, and skyrim more on the ps3 version though.
great and i was hoping for some relief from this issue. i feel 2 years of troubleshooting dragon age was more then crazy, it still runs decently but not much improvement. now minecraft i can add to the list of memory leak wars.
i have a partition for my troublemaker games dao, fo3, skyrim. it helps the issue enough to tolerate dealing with said issues, can i move the .minecraft folder to the partition leave a shortcut in it's default location and will it work?
i have done this with steam, a person on youtube helped out. and to be honest in my war with dao he was the only person on the net that actually helped really at all.
so to sum up can minecraft run on a partition with minimal headaches? i'd rather not try it without being sure, i have lost to many maps by now and am not risking this one.
I'm sorry I can't help you, but I am getting the exact opposite.
In 1.4 my FPS seems to have boosted by 10 or so.
that's not the issue, exactly the problem i get is weird and hard to explain, i have the same problem in fo3, dao, skyrim, and borderlands. it's not a lag like a framerate slowdown, actually the game runs smoothly far more now then it ever did before. the problem i get is over time actions like breaking blocks, gathering items take longer to activate, the fps is unaffected.
i have the same exact issue with dao only far worse and it get so bad that the game crashes after some time. i've run it through every fix i could find, nothing worked even got this pc i'm using and upgraded the graphics card. 1k+ burned to fix it. minecraft has the same issue though far less damaging. i guess i'll just see what the updates bring, it is a new thing added in so i hope in time any issues will improve. dao no longer updates so i'm screwed there.
edit: not a memory leak thank god, it is from logging in i was playing offline earlier because of an error. no lag at all. so it is a server internet related issue. so changing skins just got a bit more annoying basicly. which is the only reason i log in at all. easier skin managing.
is there some offline thing i can change skins with that doesn't require unzipping the jar file?
