You sir are EPIC!!! I've had this problem for what feels like a year, and this is literally the ONLY solution that I've ever seen actually work. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
Not sure about other ways, you may be able to download the classes, but I'm not 100% sure. I'm pretty sure it either has to do with the Java version, the OS (windows, mac, linux), or 32-bit or 64-bit.
The classes are: java.naming.factory.initial, com.sun.jndi.dns.DnsContextFactory and java.naming.provider.url
Thank you so much i had this bug ever since 1.3.2 and i'm glad somebody finally fixes the problem.
Dude you are the best! You deserve a diamond!

I cant seem to figure out how to instal this?
im having this problem for 6 months now.. and the only thing i come up to instal this is doing this
going to .minecraft/bin then open minecraft.jar with winrar and place the file in there for 14.6?
Ok you just need to put this in the Minecraft.jar folder (Left Click/Open WIth Win rar) put the fix in there if it asks you to replace just click yes, and finally delete META INF from the MInecraft.jar or else it wont work

Glad you all enjoy this, hopefully in the near versions Mojang will fix this.
For all those who it isn't working for, there are two possibilities:
A) You aren't installing it right, take these steps in order:
1. Download the class file for the corresponding version of minecraft.
2. Open the Minecraft.jar in an archiving program (WinRAR, WinZip, 7Zip, etc.)
3. Delete the META-INF folder (this is crucial, if this isn't done Minecraft will crash on start-up)
4. Drag the class file into the archive, if prompted for permission to override, click yes.
5. Start up Minecraft.
If it still isn't working look up a video tutorial on how to install mods (perhaps someone can make a video tut of this (not necessary)).
If after all that it still isn't working, the problem may reside somewhere else. Chances are I won't be able to make a fix for this because I don't have anything to test it against (I myself had this problem also). You will probably have to wait until Mojang resolves this issue in the near future.
Dude, thank you SOOOOO much! I've had this problem ever since the update to 1.3 and it was annoying, since the server I play on restarts every 3 hours, the constant rebooting was driving me nuts! After months of being annoyed, i've found the cure! You have made it to my Favorites list!
P.S: Will you be updating this to 1.5 when it is released, because I really don't want to have to constantly reboot again. I just want some confirmation or something that this will be updated for 1.5 so that I have nothing to worry about.

No problem, glad to make people happy :). I will be updating this (as far as I know) until Mojang fixes this themselves.

If you're installing it correctly, there's nothing I can do about it. Your problem is probably elsewhere. Did this happen to you before 1.3.1? Hopefully your problem will be fixed soon.
