So I upgraded my pc to windows 8, and my game doesn't work. I have every video driver I had before, but I get the following error:
Bad video card drivers!
-----------------------
Minecraft was unable to start because it failed to find an accelerated OpenGL mode.
This can usually be fixed by updating the video card drivers.

Can anyone offer advice on getting it fixed to work again please?
The answer is very simple: Minecraft is not supported on Windows 8
This is false information.
Yes, your suspicions are correct Tzolak, the problem lies with the drivers, and it is very likely that Microsoft replaced the old drivers with proprietary Microsoft drivers which do not support OpenGL . Please post your DxDiag log.
Didn't Notch say that he doesn't want Minecraft to be supported on Windows 8?
And is Notch still head of the lead Minecraft dev? No.
Minecraft works perfectly fine on Windows 8, and I have alot of people who can vouch for that, the only requirement that Minecraft requires is Java, and decent system specs. Windows 8 is still the Windows operating system.
yeah I know that, but Notch still is the creator of minecraft and he if he says he doesn't want the support then the people working on minecraft should not make it, right?
or has jeb said that minecraft is supported on windows 8?
You're missing the point entirely. They don't need to add support for Windows 8, because it just works with the correct conditions, as in, Java, a decent graphics card, and a decent processor, and appropriate hardware drivers. This is why Minecraft works cross-platform, Windows, Mac and Linux, as it is Java-based.
They will not go to the trouble to make Minecraft "unsupported" on Windows 8, this is more work than its worth, why break an already working product? And besides that is a bad marketing strategy, as newer computers and laptops in the market tend to ship with Windows 8.
Notch has merely expressed his opinion on Windows 8, and was an opinion still at his time as the lead developer for Minecraft. The game has been handed over to Jens entirely, and that means he has total control of where the game goes in a sense of development direction.
Ok, this is what I know.
Notch said he didn't want windows 8 support, meaning he'd not put it on the app market. Win8 is just another OS like Win7, WinXP and so on. You cannot get the minecraft app from the market, so it'll not show up in your start menu like it used to.
I posted my DxDiag in the thread you linked me to, and am looking at another thread for upgrading my video drivers.

If minecraft already works on windows 8. Then it's kind of weird for Notch to say that he doesn't want minecraft to be supported on windows 8 just to say that he doesn't like windows 8
The only thing Notch did was refuse to go through the Windows 8 certification process for Minecraft so it could be sold on Microsoft's app marketplace. He does not agree with the Windows 8's new walled design which is less open and also how the move is heading in a direction similar to how Apple does things.

Thanks for the help so far.
You were supposed to post the log here, but anyways.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
