Got myself a new computer, minecraft worked fine on old one but now after i just downloaded it, im getting a message saying it could not verify the publisher which i didnt get on my old computer but im also getting the black screen after i click login.
I havent changed anything in any folders or anything like that, just downloaded it and im getting the black screen.
You got the "The publisher cannot be verified" message because you're computer is not used to Minecraft. Just click the box where its checked off. Near the box, it should say:
Always ask before opening this file
Sorry, forgot to say i had already done that. and still getting the black screen or it freezes at a screen where it says updating minecraft with the bar 95% complete an it says update complete.
Some anti-virus software and firewalls can block minecraft from downloading completely. AVG seem s to be the most common offender.
Try temporarily disabling and anti-virus and/or firewall software, and giving it another go.

Try temporarily disabling and anti-virus and/or firewall software, and giving it another go.
If that doesn't help, I'll need an error report.
You can use the error logging script in this thread: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1383256-advanced-minecraft-error-test/
to get a more detailed error report that will help out. Download the script from that thread, and paste the results back here.
Go into the .minecraft folder and delete the bin folder.
Then try relaunching minecraft.
I've seen many MCpatcher errors lately.
MultiMC or Magiclauncher and optifine are the way to go.
