I've just installed windows and all drivers updates on my new computer, and my minecraft is running on the lowest fps i've ever seen in a high-end pc like this!!!
I got everything maxed out, Fancy, Renderdistance: Far, all that! BUT! I'm running at around 20-60 fps?! and i have a 120hz monitor, so i'd liked to play in 120fps+,
So there should be NOTHING WRONG WITH THE COMPUTER?!
I'm playing counter strike source at 450 fps average everything maxed out,
Counter strike global offensive 100-120fps everything maxed out, BF3 40-70 fps Ultra, and so on. So my computer is just fine! But, minecraft got a seriously low framerate! and the specs i had before this computer, is just the same but with a ZOTAC GT440 Graphics card. The HD7870 is 2gb card, the old was 1gb. SO I JUST DONT UNDERSTAND?!
I AM TURNING MAD!!!<.< CANT FIND ANY SOLUTION!!!<.< i have a beast computer! every game runs just fine, EXCEPT MINECRAFT<.< and my old GT440 Ran minecraft with better frames and same settings-.-
Update your graphics card, DirectX, and your OS (if necessary). Use OpenGL (if your video card is compatible with it). Make sure you set your Performance settings (in-game) to Max FPS. If you want to generally increase Minecraft's performance across the board, you should try and install Optifine.
It is recommended not to use Far Render distance on a 32-bit Java client. If you have a 32-bit Java client, get a 64-bit Java client if you continue using Far Render distance.
If the problem persists after all these steps are taken, try it on Normal Render distance and see how much it works.
Also, Minecraft generally does not have the best FPS, and I haven't heard of anyone being able to get more than 100 FPS. I am not sure if that's impossible, but it may not be.
ehm dude, i built this computer for 2 days ago, before that i had a GT440 graphics card, and a HDD, drive. now i have HD7870 OC edition. Great card! and A SSD. so, i dont think the problem lies with the hardware, and i have the newest version avaliable for all my hardware, i got 64-bit java, i've tried with normal and far, same problem. With my GT440, and hdd drive, i had 100-400 fps... now i got 20-50. And i've said before, i can run all my games without lag, i can even run skyrim with HD texturepack, with EVERYTHING maxed out, without mousedelay, or low frames, i got higher fps in skyrim than Minecraft, SOMETHING IS WRONG HERE>.<
what i think is the problem is that i dont think my graphics card knows that Minecraft is a game, so it doesnt run at best performance, can anyone help me with that?
i think i've found the problem, but not a solution. If you ever have played Runescape, you know that runescape is running on java. BUT! runescape got DirectX, OpenGL, Software and Safe-mode. that can run of, but Minecraft, only got OpenGL, it seems. And my Graphics card does not suppord OpenGL, for some reason. So, what i think is that, minecraft is running in "Software Mode", that makes Horible Framerates. If anyone got a solusion for me, except making minecraft DirectX available in a future update. Please reply now!^^
Dude, your gpu must support opengl. All modern gfxs do. I'm very sure it's a software driver issue. If you want to play minecraft that badly swap your gpu out for your old one. There's some issues between minecraft and AMD drivers, I think.
First of all, pull your head out of your . You know not the beast your dealing with, and its name is Java.
There are a few things you need to be aware of:
1. AMD/ATI has the 2nd worst OpenGL support of the known GPUs. SiS currently holds the top spot, and doesn't run in a lot of cases (because its old)
2. Your probably running at 1080 full screen, which is going to kill your FPS regardless.
3. Java is not a native programing language, so theres an unavoidable inefficiency when you try to scale things up. Until Oracle finds a solution, everyone has to live with this fact.
4. Being an AMD card, your only real options is setting optimization. That includes bringing down adv opengl settings, or dropping the resolution slightly.
5. Get Optifine. It opens up a lot of tweaking options not available in vanilla minecraft. Most important of these are disabling AA and enabling Vsync. This is not a game that works well with Global AA enabled, turn that off.
ehm, i hope you tell me to DISABLE, Vsync. Vsynd ****s up all games. because as soon as you drop under your monitors refreshrate in fps. It does not drop like, 2-10 fps. but to half of the fps that you had. Like. you had 120 FPS with vsync. then you get 60 fps.... And that destroys your gameplay feeling>.<. and with vsync you get horrible mousedelay. So NO THANK YOU to vsync. And i am running with optifine. and i got some higher frames. But still less than my old Nvidia gpu:S
First of all, pull your head out of your.
... pointless rambling...
No need to be rude, especially when half of what you say is wrong or irrelevant. I'd encourage you to take your own advice.
MC ran fine on my system (Asus Sabertooth 990fx, FX-8120, 16Gb Corsair Vengance, HD6870 and GTX670, Intel 520 120Gb SSD x2 Raid 0, Seasonic 860W Platinum) at 1080p full screen 60+fps with 32x texture pack and GL shaders. Clearly its not hardware. Now the 7xxx series launched with some ultra crappy beta drivers but if those are at latest version you're probably looking at settings in CCC. Disabling global MLAA is a good start. Also you may want to experiment with different Catalyst AI settings, with Performance being first.
Also you may want to check if you are forcing any AA, vsync etc globally or if you are letting applications decide their settings. Global settings not always a good idea.
i have an intel i5 3570k cpu asus sabertooth z77 mobo and gtx 570 gpu. Im running minecraft with lb photorealism 256x256 at tops ~20 fps. wtf? there is something wrong. i gave minecraft 4 gig or ram!!

So please reply if you guys got any tips for me!
Try making javaw.exe run with best performance in catalyst control centre
You guys can add me on steam or skype too if that would be any help, "brage997" on both.
