Please note: It has been suggested several times that the name should be Marble, and I'm fine with that, I will treat them as the same thing.
A simple suggestion, a whitestone block for building desert houses. Sandstone is just to.. natural sometimes to look good.
The whitestone block would probably be used elsewhere than only for desert towns, due to it's white surface (could look good for designer houses for example).
It would also be good if stairs and halfblocks were added along with the whitestone, for even more possibilites.
(And no, i don't like building with wool, especially survival)
The whitestone would be weaker than cobblestone, but still strong because it is a stone block.
I have retextured cobblestone here to make a few pictures of how it could look like:
This picture is a little dark, it was night ^^
This is how a whitestone town could look like (not a desert town, but anyway)

Coloured Adobe I was looking at Adobe on Wikipedia, and saw some Adobe with colour on. So I thought that it would be epic to have Coloured Adobe!
Adobe (Red) Adobe (Brown)
Ingame Example of Coloured Adobe This game should have a nice range of blocks to build with, because that is much of what the game is about. It is possible with texture packs, but the game loses so much meaning if you build with something else than it actually is (for example in multiplayer). You can also use a mod, but I think that vanilla minecraft also should have a nice range of blocks to build with, not just people with mods.
Thet would be nice... but "whitestone"? That's not such a good name. Shouldn't it be "Marble", that would make more sense to me. It could be found naturally on cliffs by the water, maybe?
I don't know
It was the simplest name i could think of
I'm sure Notch would make some changes to the suggestion anyway if it's going to be implemented.
not trying to be a pain in the ass, but if you have enough iron, just use iron blocks. :ohmy.gif:. although it should be quite useful in a lot of casses. name needs to be changed however. its like calling stone "smoothstone."

What happens if you get really, really excited seeing your girlfriend while wearing diamond leggings?

Iron can look quite different on many texture packs, but whitestone is simply a plain white stone
I think smelting sandstone in a furnace is not that bad an idea. I really like the "whitecobble" look it got.
actually, i retract my last post. smelting sandstone in a furnace would be an alright idea. but it still doesn't really add much to the game other than cosmetic value, which is what people use texture packs for.

Want to help with my mod, you could do artwork or something?

I could probably help with textures, but I'm not sure about the scripting stuff :tongue.gif:
