Lets say you are shooting at a creeper from your house and you want the gunpowder. Why not have a dog get it for you. It will take the item back and set it in front of you, but if you dont want it you can just make it sit down and hold it until you have room in you inventory.
But if a zombie grabs the item the wolf will kill it and get it back.
I thought of this because on my first day of minecraft i was killed several times while trying to get loot
Lets say you are shooting at a creeper from your house and you want the gunpowder. Why not have a dog get it for you. I'd love to have a dog get my items. +1 for good demo. It will take the item back and set it in front of you, but if you dont want it you can just make it sit down and hold it until you have room in you inventory. Another plus for the nice feature.
But if a zombie grabs the item the wolf will kill it and get it back. Again, another neat addition to the feature.
I thought of this because on my first day of minecraft i was killed several times while trying to get loot You should probably try to be more careful.
Overall, it's a neat feature you have, but your inspiration was pretty weak, but the stuff you have is very good. I checked by searching "dogs retrieve items", and I got suggestions for ships, deeper oceans, one that wanted to boost wolves, but it was in 2011 when they were introduced, another one from 2011 about features NOT about this, a wishlist, and a suggestion from 2010.

Minecraft is a sandbox game, not an rpg like Cube World. Remember that the next time you're writing a suggestion thread.
It would be pretty cool if you could right click them with a new item (for example: a chew toy) and it would toggle whether or not the dog would retrieve items. Otherwise, Support.

This needs a new mechanic: right clicking a wolf with gunpowder makes him sniff it and search for gunpowder, and bring it to you, this makes it more realistic. This would not work with dog food thought, for interference. That's how it should work.
I like the idea, but it would be cool if sometimes wolves would have a chance to dig up random stuff like a partly damaged tool and would bring it to you.

I was just thinking about doing the chew toy idea
It would be created with slime balls in the shape of a bone
