Yup yup, I think we should be able to get the blanket on the bed to be the same color that the wool that we use to make the beds, liike if its multicolored wool, its just a patched blankets and stuff. but an oragne wool bed craft will give the bed a orange wool blanket. :smile.gif: tell me what you think of this idea ...

heard somewhere that notch decided it wasn't worth implementing since all wool has a single ID, which determines what is made when you craft with it, but different durability, which determines the color. Dunno how sheep work
Do a search first. I can't begin to count how many threads there are about colored beds.

Crafting of items with the same ID works fine. All the dyes have the same ID and they make the different wools just fine. Sharing the same ID mostly just limits an item's properties (either all or none of them are flammable, for example.)
Edit:
There is, however, a different problem with colored beds. The different colors take up all 16 damage values on a wool block. The bed already uses some damage values to determine orientation, ect. so there is not enough room to store all the colors a bed could be.

There shouldn't be "uncodable" things in Java. Anything is possible. Notch just needs to add another byte of data to the beds. Besides Notch has over a 1000 item block ids available. He could use 15 of them to create a bed for every wool color.
