Well since Microsoft acquired minecraft I thought there would be a great deal of more "practical updates" to the game, since it was re-written to some extent.
I have just inspired the idea of a windmill mod which introduces the 3-dimensional quantity torque to the matrix.
Windmills could be constructed upon pylons of "ROD" block which transmits torque to the next block, with limits similar to redstone.
The whole could be powered by redstone or torque, with new elements such as a water pump.
Thoughts? Improvements? Or a step in the wrong direction...
Additionally, I think this would be a nice step forward (with inherent frustration) and as minecraft is an educational platform, very informative.
This doesn't really seem like it fits at all. What's the purpose of this in the game? Is it to power stuff? Will we need to power things now? What's a "ROD" block?

I feel the same way it just doesn't seem to fit in minecraft.
Please refrain from using the word mod in a suggestion for the game since mods are used to describe an entirely different subject. When I first saw the title I assumed that you were working on a mod that added windmills to the game not a suggestion.
Other than that, I can agree with everyone else here that you didn't give enough information pertaining to these "ROD" blocks and the usefulness of "windmills." I understand you are trying to make Minecraft a bit more educational, but can't I just build a windmill and use a complex series of redstone to achieve the same aesthetic purpose?
Be careful what you say fits in vanilla. The OP's idea would take Minecraft drastically in a new direction, as it adds a thing that can't even be done in the current engine: rotating blocks. You could make it into an entity, but then you're blurring the line between blocks and entities, and the game would have to be re-written to manage groups of blocks as entities while still allowing the player to change their build as if they were blocks.
It would NOT fit in vanilla.

I'd say make a windmill and mechanical power similar to BTW. Works quite well, fits in vanilla, I think it'd be great.
I just took the Minecraft Noob test! Check out what I scored. Think you can beat me?!

I think you're in the wrong thread. Discussions concerning mods go in the modding forum. The Suggestions Forum is for suggestions to the vanilla game.
But if this is a suggestion, then no support because it's too complicated and sound's like a mod.
