This suggestion adds a way to obtain fire on survival mode without mods. Not flint and steel, but the actual fir block that has a block id of 51. You could use this to make chainmail armor. This suggestion makes ghasts and blazes drop fire as a rare drop, as rare as wither skeleton skulls. Fire is also available in the creative menu for whatever reason you want.

Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes; after that who cares? He's a mile away and you've got his shoes!
So far I see the only use of fire is to craft chain armor. I don't see a point in this, as iron armor is way easier to get, and after all, fire only has ONE use. Adding fire in the creative inventory is not really that useful. Maybe if they added more uses for fire then I would support this.
"Colder than the snow that blankets the earth" "Colder than the ice that cover the stones and freezes the rivers" "Colder than the north wind blowing through a winter-bound forest" "Colder than all these is the smile of a Shade of the Dark"
This wouldn't make much sense to me. I just can't see fire being a natural item to get. Notch added chainmail armor in as a test, and there is a reason that the crafting recipe is the way that it is. It is supposed to be a rare item in the game. If it were craftable it would lose all rarity to it, even if the way that you got it would be hard to do so. Another thing to look at would be how un-worth it it would be. If obtaining fire from a ghast is really as rare as you say than it wouldn't even be worth bothering just to get chainmail armor. No support.
So, you use a diamond pickaxe to get obsidian. You then proceed to go to the Nether, wearing your iron armor. You get some fire, which you craft into chainmail, which has less armor points than iron AND is harder to obtain
...or you could craft flint and steel to burn stuff and buy your chainmail from villagers. Just sayin'.
Flint and steel are not stackable. And not everyone has a village on their hands. Even if you do then they will die after one night because of the new zombie onslaught.
I really don't see the use. When you get to the Nether, you'll have full iron armor, with maybe a diamond helmet or boots. I wouldn't take the time to grind out ghasts and blazes just to get the parts to craft a very inferior armor set.

So? What's holding fire have to do with your argument?
Also here's a random fact about the real world. Lava is so hot that if you got at least two feet away then your shirt would burst into flames. We hold lava buckets in Minecraft but we don't burst into flames.

I think fire isn't ment to be obtained in survival mode tbh, partly because its an ingredient for chain armour wich doesn't make sence. Its hard to explain sorry, but I don't support your suggestion.
Notch for some reason made it that way. It makes no sense.

Use my delicate shears on 1400 degree fire?
Exactly. Anyways, it's survival. You don't hold fire itself, you have to light it.
