Am I the only person who feels like a company that's raking in millions of dollars for a relatively primative game should be able to get more done? Why is it that we get one update every month (or more) that adds very little substance? For instance, they added bats. Cool, we need more animals. So why would you only add one? Wouldn't it have made more sense to reskin the bat as a bird, change a bit of code, and give us 2 animals? Hell, take off the wings and add rats too.
I guess what I'm saying is, I'd like to see updates that address a specific feature rather than a bunch of random things. Instead of adding one new mob every several months, why not just release one update with a handful of new mobs? Why does it take a multi-million dollar company months to release completed content?
How much money are you paying Mojang per month? Do you own stock in the company? I'd consult them if you do since they might listen to a donor or shareholder.
Dude, are you serious? It costs you what, 30 bucks for the game, and all additional DLCs are free, and the install for you. So what the updates are random. If there was an Update that only affected the dirt block, the would be a bad update. If mojang were to go and update everything, one at a time, there would be over 400 updates. And there would be one every week. That really gets annoying when every time you open your MC it has to update. No support.
Since I stopped reading early last time, I'll address the one-at-a-time update thing. I run a server with Bukkit because I just want to have anti-cheat and block logging (no MOTD or land protection crap). The updates are already too frequent to make it easy to keep all your plugins intact. Even if it was vanilla, a weekly update would mean manually stopping the server and switching out the JAR every week.
Maybe if the vanilla server JAR was actually Bukkit, and Mojang updated THAT, and each update didn't break most of the plugins, and if the updates for the game and plugins would automatically install somehow...
But if I didn't have my own server, I'd want them to push out frequent updates in order to kill Bukkit. It's a tool that people over-use on most servers, so you go on and get greeted with a huge city where you can't build, everyone has a tag in front of their name, blocks of MOTDs flash by telling you to vote for the server, and you have to walk 5000 blocks to get to some land where you can make a faction and build with no fire, lava, water, or TNT. Since I have my own server, I don't have to deal with that.

The hell are you talking about? I think you need to work on your reading comprehension because you entirely misunderstood what I said.

Once again, you guys need to work on reading comprehension. Did I say anything about updating more often? I run a server too, and it's nowhere near as difficult to keep up with updates as you're making it out to be.
Um...are you complaining about the snapshots not being "good enough?" Because that's what it sounds like.
We get updates roughly 2 months apart, with snapshots on a (generally) weekly basis. The snapshots are not meant to be filled to the brim with content, they're meant to test a specific addition (such as the bats), and this is why we get them weekly. This is also why they don't have "OMG AMAZIN SAUCE UPDAET!" content. They're tests. That's it.
And while we're at it, it doesn't matter how much money Mojang brings in. They're still just a small handful of people. They don't have a studio the size of Activision or Blizzard.
I think, given that fact alone, Mojang is doing a bang-on job with Minecraft. 8,958,085 people agree with me so...
Am I the only person who feels like a company that's raking in millions of dollars for a relatively primative game should be able to get more done?
So you know exactly how much Mojang gets per month?
Why is it that we get one update every month (or more) that adds very little substance? For instance, they added bats. Cool, we need more animals. So why would you only add one?
"Very little substance"? Do you know how to accurately program and bug test in Java? It could be worse, they could give us nothing at all. "Why would only add one"? We don't need a bunch more animals because we can play the game just fine with what we have.
Wouldn't it have made more sense to reskin the bat as a bird, change a bit of code, and give us 2 animals? Hell, take off the wings and add rats too.
Then go make a mod that gives us this stuff, because Mojang isn't gonna see this thread and think, "Hey! This is guy right!" We may get a bird in the future, who knows? If we don't, the game won't automatically suck.

Honestly, please shut the hell up. You don't know exactly what Mojang does with their money and what they go through. Every day people try to get in contact with them to say crap "omg add birds add more ores add more animals add cars add jets lol" yet we (thankfully) don't have that stuff. Go make some mods of your own if you can't handle what's in the updates.
Mojang does so much for us, I sometimes wonder if they sleep. They work a lot just so we can have abetter game. With all the people whining about updates, just like the OP, I wonder how they keep the motivation to keep giving us updates. Be thankful for what you get.
Seriously? Mojang takes time to update Minecraft. That's because they want to make sure that there are things worth adding. They added Bats. They also added Anvils, Withers, Flower Pots, Item Frames, the Beacon, the Nether Star, tons of new sounds, and fixed a ton of bugs. Updates take time so that you don't have to update every time you open Minecraft.

I do agree with your statement, however, I'm just not as passionate about it. Mojang could hire a more coding gurus to do the actual coding, freeing up Jeb and DB to brainstorm more stuff. But they said it would make the game "feel less indie"...

Oh what a surprise, you don't understand. Just because it's a suggestion that you don't like doesn't mean it isn't a suggestion.

Actually, no, he didn't. I'm skeptical about whether you did either.
