Right now, there are absolutely no benefits to going to the Nether. True, lightstone is the only lightsource that can be placed underwater, but it's not like there's much to see underwater anyway. True, slowsand can be used to make handy docks, but crashing your boat can be avoided fairly easily anyway.
So I'm suggesting that, as kind of a prize for getting to the Nether, netherstone should burn forever as furnace fuel.
NOW, it would cook things a lot more slowly, but it would also never have to be replenished. It would be very handy, and it makes sense. Netherstone burns forever normally, anyway.
But wouldn't this be overpowered?
No, less than you'd think. By the time you get to the Nether, you'll most likely have diamond tools , which means that you've been playing the game for a while. That means that you probably have a lot of coal on hand anyway. So it's not really overpowered, just convenient.
@PowerZ Well it's not like you HAVE to use it. It would be useful if you were going out adventuring for a couple days and wanted a lot of smoothstone when you got back.
@cats715 Thanks!
maybe the netherstone should burn for the same amount of time coal does in furnaces.
i mean, it does burn for forever, but there's a LOT of it in the hell world
I support, but I wouldnt use it. Lava buckets last a very very long time and can easily be replenished if you find a source. However, a thing i need to point out is that netherstone isnt hot, it just does not stop burning. Nice idea, though.

Infinity is big. Maybe it should just be an alternate to coal, so you have an incentive to travel to the Nether more. I think maybe 8 operations per block would be nice, perhaps 4 per since the Nether is MADE out of Netherstone.

Manly blood is both highly acidic AND highly basic, but I'm glad to see you're paying attention.
So what if you have diamond tools by that time? You should still need to gather fuel. It's not even like it is that hard, I usually get at least a stack or three on a good mining expedition.

well it should burn at least as long as lava, perhaps as long as three buckets? with so much of it in hell, it should burn out at some point! and by he time ou get to the nether, you have used diamond tools or several buckets of lava so it should be a bit overpowered, but if you use one block of brimstone out of the thouands of blocks of it found in the nether... idk, thats just not going to make a higher demand for it and then it becomes to overpowered. well, my vote is a burning time of 3-5 buckets of lava OR you can make a craftable infinite furnace that can last forever and wont use the fuel slot (because you have to admit, a fuel slot on an infinite furnace will look REALY stupid).

Okay, thanks for reading.

@cats715 Thanks!
Jack-o-lanterns work underwater.
Though I agree there isn't much to see underwater.
I just use lava myself for large smelts.

Really? That's cool.
Please explain.
Yeah, that could work too, I guess.

If I have plenty of diamonds, should I automatically be given unlimited diamonds since I got so many in the first place? No.
