I've just found them all! I need to watch the season AGAIN to count a few 'events'. :-(
I actually had an easy time finding 8 and 11. 4 was the one that got me. Watching the videos helps!
A lot of people had trouble with 12 even though I thought that was going to be one of the easy ones.
It was tough. I only ever went there once and passed by it when I did. I just knew there would be one where 4 was, but I could not find it for the life of me. The cave 2 ones were hard as well. I think I know that place almost as well as you do, now. :-)
I have been watching your episodes and moving my character along with yours. It's very effective for finding places, especially 11. I hate it when you cut off the camera then end up somewhere different when you turn it back on.

I've been giving the competition a lot of thought at work today, and it raises a few questions and most likely some comments (after the rambling part in me takes over) Some of it might be kind of touchy topics, or difficult to answer properly in your position, but I'd really like to know where you stand on these things, so even if it's a quick PM, it'd be much appreciated.
What I'm really wondering is what your idea and view on the whole competition is, and more importantly, its purpose. Was the purpose to simply let a few fans onto the server to basically do their own thing in the background and not become too involved? The other side being, were your plans to actually build a relationship with the server members and be actively involved with them? Why I'm really asking, is because the whole point of me putting so much effort into this competition is actually not to say "hey cool, I'm on Jason's server, and I might be in an episode!"
See, my time playing Minecraft has been immensely fun, but similar to that of a drug user (in a not-so-serious way of course). I have my highs (my builds, accomplishments) but after every one of those amazing experiences, I'm left feeling empty, knowing that I'm all alone in what I'm doing, and that nobody is there to experience and witness it with me. For example, I have these ideas for builds and things that are great to me, but if I go and spend the time and effort on completing it on my own, sure, I'll get it done, but I'll just end up looking at it, see some livestock jump around, and realize how vain it all really is.
Wow, this is starting to sound a lot more deep than I intended, but I'll continue to the point.
The reason I'm putting so much into this, is because it will give me people to share my journey with. It'll add a sense of purpose to what I do, and really make it feel like I'm having some kind of an impact on others. I want to actually meet you guys, become some kind of "friend" to you, and really connect. It's such an amazing opportunity in front of me, and I really should be watching the series through for some more answers, but I felt this was important to get out there.
To save my neck here, I'll throw this out too:
Not saying that I'm against the idea of a few kids (not meaning to sound derogatory when I say "kids") pump hours into this on their Christmas break from school and get on the server to tell their friends. But I can't help but feel like some potential was wasted, and an opportunity lost if nothing with substance comes of people joining in on the fun, you know?
Hopefully some of this actually made sense to you. It makes sense in my head, but expressing myself is not something I can brag about. Thanks for your time :smile.gif:

Here is how this all came about. I wanted to continue my let's play series, but I had so many real life friends that picked up the game as a result of the series and me talking about it, so I wanted to make the Let's Play series go into a multiplayer setting. Which ok, that was easy, done. Of course as soon as I made this change every viewer immediately wanted in as well, and I am all for everyone getting to play together, but I knew the limitations of the minecraft server. Even if my server could handle 100 people you wouldn't really want 100 people all fighting for a place to live on the server so the number of people that I could allow was going to have be limited if I let anyone in at all. So I started to think about what I could to give people a FAIR chance at getting into the server, something where my personal bias wasn't a factor in who got in, yet also being a "test" that only the true fans of the series would be willing to complete. This is how I ended up with what I presented to you guys. I personally had to rewatch the series a few times to get my tallies for a few of the questions so I know the amount of time it takes to answer a few of the questions, granted hiding the questions was a lot easier than finding them and I really didn't expect it to take as long for people to find them all. I think the people that played along side the video to find the questions probably took the easiest route to finding them all.
As far as the role the winners will take in the Let's Play, I cannot say for certain, I do not forsee them playing the same roll as say Madcow who I have been friends with since high school, however I would like it if they were a part of the server, active, and creative. With this being so much a creative game with open ended possibilities all left up to the person's imagination there is a lot of unique stuff that each person could bring to the server. Will they be raiding dungeons along side me? Maybe, but not my top priority.
I think part of having a let's play is interacting with the people that watch your videos on a daily basis, if I could let everyone in I would go for it, but we all know that isn't possible. I have been working pretty hard these last two weeks coding backup software and some website development for this series to allow more interaction between us. I know that the subscriber base is still semi-small with a little over 500 subscribers which is the only reason I can have this competition at all right no. If I had 50k subscribers or 500k subscribers there would be no way I could this because I would be overwhelmed. That being said I am trying to enjoy this time period in the series when it is still in its infancy and just try to have fun for myself and for the viewers.
I am not sure if I really answered your questions or not, I kind of went on my own little tangent there.

No no, that's great. Hearing your take on it was all I was looking for. My only concrete idea (which strangely enough is nowhere to be found in the wall o' text up there) was to get like, maybe the top 10 people, and have some sort of screening process where you'd get to know them, and narrow it down to a few in the end. Now that I'm writing this out though, it seems to be horribly unfair to those who put the effort into it, and got kicked out because they weren't "good enough" to get in.
Actually, that sounds downright depressing. I'm guessing you thought of this at one point, then immediately threw out the idea because of how awful it would be to actually do it, haha.
I'll go back to my questions now.

Just thought I'd throw this out there in case it is confusing some people. Episode 24, the "Death Toll +13" video, I've watched through quite a few times in a row, and I only count 12 deaths. There was the spot in the video where it kicked you out to the title screen when you died, and you were still dead when you loaded the save file back up. I think you might've counted that as a separate death?
EDIT: Ah, just watched the start of the next episode where you died again, then wrote off your stuff. You must've counted that as the 13th death. Carry on, haha.

I am missing 2,12,22, and 25 I watched the series over twice I'll be able to tell your voice out of a crowd of 50 people by know haha.
If I may be so bold, 12 and 22 are both in spots that very little time was spent in. That probably doesn't help at all, haha.
22 is like a needle in a haystack, but oddly enough, its the part of the haystack you're likely to search in first.
On a side note, I have every question answered at this point. I gotta double check 13 and 19. It's so easy to miss one of those, and it involves watching the entire series again... :-( Half way through, though. I should finish by tomorrow if I've enough free time. :-)

Long live Mindcrack! Great let's play series; good pacing and funny stream of consciousness commentary. I must admit, I passed it over two months ago after watching part of the first episode. With so many LP's out there, the introduction in #1 just didn't grab me. Should have been like, I'm funnier, more clever, and more relatable than those other LPrs. Maybe someone should say it for you. [FIXED]

Bad design on the mug led to water and magma occasionally forming blockages. A catwalk allows access to fix these, in a recent cleaning attempt two legendary miners slipped on water on the catwalk and fell to their deaths in the obsidian mold.
Reply to the wall of text (not quoting to save an hr of scroll down time lol) :
What would work for the next season to help with getting input from other players in the server would be to either make a town (with walls and all) or a community housing thing (one biiig house with rooms for everyone)...
that way you can quickly show off what everyone has been up to whenever you go on your way around the town/house
ALSO, you could get to know the players you don't know IRL while building the town/house, since it would be more of a group effort... from finding a spot, to digging everything out, to deciding what to add
Of course, this would probably work best if you start the server when every member can be on for the start... but if not, you can always start off the town/house with whoever is on at the time and then make other things (tree/wheat/mob farms and anything else) with the other members whenever they're on
wow... sorry i keep posting long messages lol i tend to ramble on a lot XD
All in all, for the next season, it would be good if you could have the test BEFORE starting the server... if not to do a community thing, then so everyone has a shot at those sweet sweet resources
P.S: wouldn't condemn you for hacking in lightstone... since you can't go out and get it now lol XD (i know it would be kinda useful for the underwater thing you guys are gonna make)

Yea that first video in a series is always dull, I have hated that video since it was uploaded because it is always the first one people view and I wouldn't watch the series that guy is pitching lol.
It is possible to fix the older videos that link to the wrong thread, I was slowly doing that last weekend and never finished, thanks for reminding me.

We have actually talked about that because we are in the process of building that minecart station now and it is highly needed, we have been using jack-o-lanterns a lot and moving them around depending on the current sight of the build. I am really just hoping that he adds in the nether soon because I don't want to hack in lightstone because I know some people won't be ok with it and I think farming it is going to be a lot of fun, it is something I never did in season one.

Yeah, the Nether never really was explored to its potential in the videos. It was mostly just hilarious deaths and tunnel builds. I just got through that part now during this (third?) playthrough, and I find myself staring off into the distance hoping that you'd take all your Diamond and go adventuring down there, haha.

I don't really like farming it lol cause sure you find it in packs of 20+ blocks... but that just gives you 2 blocks... which isn't enough to do much
and i was even doing that on peaceful lol i can't imagine how much of a pain it would be while being blown up every other minute
And... yeah i forgot about jack-o-lanterns lol guess it won't be too bad if you use those :tongue.gif: probably gonna need to do a long distance run to gather up enough though... those things are rare... and the lightstone if purdier too

I foresee us spending more time in there in season two as soon as it is available on SMP, I am sure that lightstone will become scarce down there pretty quick though cause we all want it pretty bad right about now.

Maaaan I want to play Minecraft so bad right now, but it would be a huge waste of time with these questions needing to be answered. If I get any of these wrong I will be quite cheesed. I've put at least a full day combined into this so far.
I was also the guy who said he was starting to talk like you after catching up during season one. I think it's happening again.
EDIT: I'm up to around 60 mouse mentions now as well. Figured I'd throw them in there while watching.
