I don't know if this is the right place to post this. I thought maybe it's better to put this in the off topic catagory, but as this does have to do something with Minecraft, I posted this here.
So, I have been having some strange problems lately. When I bought my laptop it worked fine, I recorded at around 60-80 FPS. When I say 'laptop' you are probably going to think of an underpowered piece of crap. It is nog as powerful as a $1000 gaming rig, but for basic games like minecraft it's fine.
Specs:
- Intel i5-4200U CPU @1.6GHz
- 12 GB of RAM, DDR3 (I upgraded it from 6 to 12 gigs)
- A (somewhat crappy) 5500.
I use fraps for all my recordings. I have tried recording to an external drive and even a network drive.
The problems started when I updated my graphics drivers. I did not know how to revert it, so I 'refreshed' my windows installation (it reinstalls the operating system and removes all programs, but documents will stay). After the 'refresh' everything worked fine again. A few days later, my FPS was back down again. This time I went to the manufacturer's website and downloaded the old drivers and made sure to not enable auto update. It worked great for a few weaks, after that the issues started again. I reinstalled the old drivers again, thinking it would work. But no, it didn't. I tried three different versions by now.

My friend has exactly the same laptop as I do and also has this problem.
I really don't know what I am doing wrong or how to fix it, I hope there is someone out there who can help me
P.S. Sorry for my bad-ish English, I am Dutch and only 14 years old so I can't speek very good English
But if you still wanna use fraps ... Before recording ... Close the minecraft launcher -> ctrl+shift+esc ( Task Manager ) And close "Minecraft" dont close jawaw.
Then rightclick jawaw and Set Priority -> High ( Realtime may cause Block lags )
Since the Task manager is open... close all the background tasks which use up alot of memory...
Other than that i dont know anything about Fraps
If you wanna Record it ( for you and your friend ) Get -> www.smartpixel.com
Its really good .. but i think it has the (Trademark logo thing) ..... but you can remove that by recording the game an inch more than the game so that the tag dosent come in the laucher(gameplay) and u can edit the rest by video editing softwares....

Memory is really not a problem here, most of the time I use only 5 out of 12 gigs. (I have the extra memory because I run minecraft servers sometimes). I will try smartpixel! I don't think I can crop the video in movie maker, which is what I have been using right now. I kinda want to step away from movie maker but I felt like I didn't need to (I don't need very fancy editing, just like Etho). I did get a free copy of Cyberlink Powerdirector preinstalled, so I will check that out.
EDIT: Just noticed SmartPixel has a built-in video editor
EDIT 2: SmartPixel looks pretty nice, once thing: FPS normal = 20, FPS High = 25 and FPS Ultra = 30. I would expect something like 20, 30 and 60 xD
EDIT 3: I never knew this existed, it turns out to be an amazing piece of software! I recorded a quick video in 480p on my plotworld server, looks great, FPS much better. (30-60) I am planning on recording in 720p in the future, I hope it will turn out just as good as this clip did. Thanks for the support! (Woops, I accedentially pressed the anti-shake video optimize button :/)

use obs it should help everything out as it doesnt really mess up your fps when you record you can also stream with the program.

Obs us also really nice .... but ( My Opinion ) Smart Pixel has more options and features ...
I have tried OBS before, I have the same issues. I have also tried Bandicam, no difference either. Thanks for helping me though
