This is my main base on my friend's private survival server we've been playing on for a few months. It's still a work in progress since I plan on adding some more details and features. The vines along the lower part of the base is a semi-temporary vine farm that will eventually be removed and other details added. i don't plan on making it gaudy(er), but definitely breaking up the big flat spaces some more. I'm still thinking over my castle gates...geh! Currently adding on a massive tree on the top of my castle. I also still need to finish my Greenhouse with water feature, stables, chicken coup. and a harbor/fishing farm on the river bank. After that I will finally add landscaping in and around the castle and possibly some kind of wall (trees?) with lighting to make my farming areas more secure from damn creepers.
The other two images are of the inner hallways looking from each direction. I kept getting confused in which direction I was heading, so i color coded them. These are of the first floor Eastern Hall. There will be fewer vines once i add some other bits... or I might simply remove them.
I'm kicking around the idea of starting a youtube channel, but I'm not sure anyone would watch it.
One by one I'll be redesigning my themed rooms in the castle which has plenty of extra rooms to spare. This is the Potion Room. i knocked out the outer corner so I could refill water bottles from the infinite water source I created from one of the run-off streams.
The cauldron wall is mostly decorative, although I could technically use the cauldron.
And this is the kitchen. It looks cut in half height wise because I added a food storage loft. Eventually I will redesign the Armory, Forge, Crafting Room, Enchanting Room, and Machine Room.
There is access to the bulk storage from the Kitchen, potion room, and Crafting room. the bulk storage is the last image. Don't judge...it's a work in progress. I plan on redesigning it as well. This is also where my "Subway" stop is set up to the central railway hub, although you can't see it in the screenshot. I'll be adding a mine cart dispenser soon.
the first is my greenhouse in production. I stalled when I decided I didn't like the smaller entrance and I need to think more on the northern end where I want to add a water feature... who knows?
The next two are screenshots of my dyed sheep shed. I have white and brown ones in the large barn.
The last two are of the large barn. I've since added a silo as well which you can see in the very first image of my base. i'm not completely happy with it, so I might add some details or adjust the roof. When i get it adjusted I'll be adding the indoor chicken coup on the second level since i don't want a TON of outbuildings and I already have storage in barn basement and silo.
More or less finished the major limbs. I'll need to farm more dark oak for the upper/crown branches after I decide on the shape of my Tree Room in the crown area.
I started filling in leaves and glowstone and will eventually connect the limbs a bit more as I fill out the volume more and fill in the cro...wn. There will be jutting out bits and drooping bits with the leaves really poofing out from the ends on the branches.
Eventually I'll add "lines" (single fence posts) dropping down with glowstone. I'm going to have to add a temporary dirt platform three blocks under where I plan the lowest leaf droops to go. I'm tired of falling to my death all the time and it's slowing me down. upset emoticon>.<
This is going to be epic!!! (and take a loooong time)
Thanks! I've added some corner turrets to the castle itself, and redesigned a couple of rooms as well. Here you see the new turrets which I think gives my castle more of a castle-looking profile. (Ignore that giant brown platform high up though... that's my working platform for the giant tree... I kept falling, lol) The other images are of my new Crafting Room. It's purpose is to have a little bit of everything for small, day to day projects. i'll be building a Tool Smithy on the next floor up, and an Adventure Room on the third floor which will be for planning and reserving materials for special projects. The middle chests diagonally right from where you see my everyday junk armor set is a "fast drop" system. Just a line of hoppers and chests that leads from the third floor all the way to the basement Dungeon. it's for quickly dumping materials to sort out later. I want to make something fancier at the bottom, but that will come when I finally redesign the storage area.
I'm trying to do a unique ceiling in each room, and it's been a lot of fun designing them. The great part about adding the turrets is that i now have a connected breezeway and a neat second diagonal entrance to each room.
I ended up moving my pantry to the second floor above the kitchen. The original half-floor just wasn't sufficient with the production level of my farms and plans to create a food store for my friends. This means I'll have to re-adjust my kitchen design a bit since now i have the entire room for it rather than just half. I'll probably add "cupboards" with more quick access foods, similar to the purpose for the Crafting Room. This Pantry though, is more about mass storage, but I tried to spice the look up a bit. I added draping leaves and potted saplings in hopes that it looks like a mini in-door herb garden. There's one wall that looks awful, but it'll be fixed once I re-do the kitchen... I have many diabolical plans... yes I doooo....
This is a very neat base, pretty nice and colorful. Keep going!
Thanks! I'm trying to re-do the outer walls a bit, but so far it's been a fail, lol. I'll have to re-create it in my creative test world and play around with it there. My graph paper plans don't seem to have been sufficient this time. My hope is to make some fancier gates.
I did finish designing some more rooms in my test world, and will hopefully have those built and ready to show over the next couple of days.
I spent a good chunk of time last week farming more dark oak wood and various leaves. I filled out a couple of branches more and did a basic cover on all of the branches. Safe to say....I'll need a LOT more leaves. Still trying to figure out how I want to do the crown though...
I did some more work worth showing finally. Lately I've mostly clearing out spaces, namely the area directly beneath my outer Castle Wall. I built an underground corridor for faster access to my basement supply room. In the second image you can see the spruce doors that lead into that corridor.
The first image is of the outside gate of my East and West Gates. I plan on making something a bit different and more open on the North and South Gates later. The fencing on the sides that you see are for checking for mobs and shooting them if I feel like it. The third image shows some droppers I put into the floor of the outer gates as a decorative detail. The fences are stationary, but I thought the droppers looked cool for now.
The fourth and fifth images are of the inside gates. One with banners and one without. I added the banners as a test, but I think they feel a bit too busy. Eventually I'll landscape around my castle and will likely make some custom trees inside and outside the base. It'll give it (hopefully) a classier look and probably make most of the banners go away. The mini-balcony on the inside gate is just to break up the strong vertical profile a little.
It does take a lot of patience, as well as time and a bunch of resources. I consider it as a kind of sculpture, so I'll go whole hog on it.
As for the banners, the inside gates look fine, it's the outside gates that need tweaking really. They feel too busy and too many torches. I think I'll remove some banners add the same kind of sconces as on the inside. This weekend I mostly worked on an overworld gold farm and started building my blaze farm in the Nether (finally).
Howdy!

This is the light fixture/ceiling of the Potion Room.

Hi again!

Thanks for the encouragement!
