After months of delay and hundreds of suspensions, the Eulizean Imperial Palace has finally been built to replace (the now declared "puny") house of parliament. The mighty palace has now shown the might of the empire, towering above all other buildings, even industrial smokestacks and the masts of the largest ships. Truly, a marvel of modern architecture. Both Eulizean and Kingsholm methods were used in the construction of the palace and both agree that they are proud of their work. Indoor decorations are still required but aside from that it is completely liveable.
It was quiet in Europe, the last month there had been no attacks, no wars. Therefore the major powers of Europe did not have to spend money on their armies, because they had not lost any soldier in war. This led to harsh economic times in Swealand, it hit hardest in the capital Kingsholm.
Swealand's biggest export is iron which is used for weapons and armor, but in the past it was not so many buyers who needed iron. Better went there with the tree export, without Wars was no populations affected and the population had a low rise all over Europe. Therefore people needed wood to build houses, especially timber that Swealand had a lot of. But even though Gustav did get some income from the tree exports there was not enough to cover the income that the iron used to acquire him. The money was spent so quickly that Kingsholm soon was bankrupt.
Gustav therefore decided to replace the Minister of Finance to a well educated gentleman from Borgholm in hopes that he knew how the money could be spent without going into a big minus in the economy.
While Gustav sat in the throne room he looked at how the European countries spent their money. Many imported materials for buildings, which could indicate that they invested heavily in expanding the cities. This was also what Gustav had done the last year but now he should use his time for something else. All construction in Kingsholm was stopped and all the money would go to the army and the navy, it would also be used to set up a new port in the Polish border city that was still under Swealand's control. Gustav planned to awaken Europe from this peaceful night. He would build an army of 120 000 men with a fleet of 20 ships, this would he send to the east Baltic coast. Gustav was reading through the news about his allies. Swealand stood almost alone. Bugenhagen has allied itself with Germany and Russia. Swealand's relation to Eulizean has been worse and the Eulizean army has not become as big as it was before. In the south western parts of the Kingdom of Northlands has been affected by the Black Death. If anything were to happen did not Gustav know if the Northlands could help. The way Europe looks now is Gustav standing alone against the great powers Germany and Russia. Gustav went in conversation with the minister of foreign affairs, he was commissioned to travel along the east Baltic coast to look for allies, Cities, farmers, nobles, everything was better than nothing. When Gustav attacks on the baltic part of Russia he would need all the help he could get.
Gustav went to the The house of Nobility for help. Many of the families there had relatives around Baltika and many of the nobility houses had a small army up to 900 men. The nobility supported Gustav and after a week he had been supported by 8 noble houses around Baltika. One in Northlands, one in Bugenhagen, two in Germany, three in Poland and one in Russia. Together had they collected a little over 7,200 men.
Gustav went up to KingsHill Fortress to meet the 40,000 soldiers from the northern parts of the country. There they would spend the night after a long march before they went on to Kingsholm the next day. The fortress is built to take 29,000, so with 40 000 soldiers it was very cramped.
The following day they marched down to Kingsholm where they met 80,000 troops who waited in the Castle Square. Once the evening came, they boarded the fleet of 20 ships and sailed towards the Polish border town. From there they would take themselves into the Baltic part of Russia where they will meet 7 200 nobles ready to fight along with Gustav.
In the Polish border town, life was busy, the market infront of Magnus Palace many people were going to buy fresh goods. Now people could buy iron and furniture made in Swealand. Furniture produced in Swealand was a sign of wealth, soon had all the rich families the house filled with Swealandian furniture.
When Gustav and his men had arrived went Gustav up to his royal residence. Magnus Palace was ordered built by King Magnus, but he died a few months before the castle was completed. Therefore Gustav was the first king to stay at the castle. Later that day he spoke to the people, below stood a guard and translated his speech to Polish. Gustav talked about how important he thought it was to preserve the Polish culture and that he had no claim to the people although the city now went under the Kingdom of Swealandia. He had only one requirement and that was that everyone should learn Swealandian and use it as a second language. He ended his speech by informing the city's men that they could enlist in the Army if desired.
When night came Gustav invited the new city general Boleslaw Wrymouth for dinner at the castle. Gustav thought that by providing a Polish citizen an important role as would the Polish people become more fond of Swealand.
The following day made Gustav and the army themselves ready to march quietly into Russia to meet the nobility. Gustav made sure that all men wore strong armor in case they should be discovered.
Gustav and his army of 80,000 men headed out towards the Russian border to meet the nobility that had gathered. But two days after they crossed the border became the weather extremely bad, large amounts of snow sprinkled down and neither Gustav nor the army were dressed for snow. Gustav knew that even if they met the nobility would they have to go back to grab warmer clothes. Therefore, they chose to turn back to the city. Gustav sent 4 soldiers to Russia to tell the nobility that they needed to meet in the Polish city. At the same time he sent a order to Kingsholm after winter armor and more food.
4 days later marched 7,200 nobles into the fortified part of the city and showed up on the castle square. Each nation had the house flag showing which land and house they represented. Gustav stood at the castle gate and welcomed them.
Because the winter armor had not yet arrived to town Gustav and his men had to remain for at least another day before they could march towards the Russian port city of Riga. Riga belonged to the Livonia territory that borders to the Baltic Sea.
While Gustav was gone, it was his only child (Kristina) who ruled in the capital Kingsholm. She showed great interest in the people and lay a plan for what was the highest priority for her to do before Gustav came back.
First, she went down to a poor residential building outside the castle, she showed great interest in how they lived and what they had experienced. Most people who lived there were sailors and traders, most of them had up to 3 houses in different cities.
The next day she visited the town hall to meet the new finance minister who had done wonders with the economy. In the office hung a picture of Gustav and on the walls were Kingsholms flag. The flag was dark blue to symbolize the ocean that surrounded the city.
Later that day were the things that should be sent to the Polish town made ready to be transported to the port. The two traders who would carry it inspected the carriages to see if everything was there before they took it down to the ship.
In the Polish city had a diplomat from the Kingdom of Crimean Khanate arrived. Gustav had studied a little about the country during his stay in France and knew where the country was located.
The diplomat met Gustav in the audience chamber, where he told about that The Kingdom of Crimean Khanate was threatened by Russia now that the the Russian king was interested in the country's position on the map. The Crimean king was therefore interested in a military alliance. This enjoyed Gustav very much, if Crimean Khanate attacks from the south could Gustav march into west Russia, without much resistance.
Gustav thanked the diplomat and sent good words back to the king of Crimean. The diplomat left the castle and went back to Crimean the same day.
Gustav went out on the palace balcony to look at the square and the people there. It was late so there were not many there, but Gustav waved to the few who traded. He looked up at the sky which was the same as in Kingsholm and thought about what he wanted to achieve as king. He had one thing in mind, to widened The Kingdom of Swealand to a great power.

Eulizea (completely unaware of the major military mobilization of Kingsholm) had fixed its financial problems since Swealand was starting to buy iron again for armor...a word people hadn't heard in a long time since the era of peace begun.
Which, unfortunately for Eulizea, will soon be over.
A few days ago, some guards in stoneguard prison heared a large explosion in the depts of the prison. When they got there, they discovered that the former minister of defense Maximilian Ferrenton had in fact blown a hole so that he and his compatriots could escape the prison.
Rumors in the capital then started circulating that Ferrenton was creating an army to overthrow the empire once and for all to settle a oligarchy. There rumors (unfortunately) were right. The very next week, an army of 3,700 in orange uniforms led by Ferreton attacked the city. They were, however, defeated by half of Eulizea's remaining army, somewhere around 5,000 or so soldiers. Ferreton soon retreated into the forest along with about 1/3 of his troops.
Nevertheless, tragedy struck however when the Emperor was killed in battle by a lucky shot from one of Ferreton's troops. The funeral was held outdoors, outside the first church ever built in Eulizea. Prince Lamberth gave a speech of his father, stating him as a kind and flexible man, with bright ideas and a way of seeing innovation and creativity like no one else. The coronation of the new emperor will be held in a few days.
However, to rebuild its military might once more, Eulizea will need to retrieve its troops from Kingsholm, worsening the relation.
Today it is Christmas and therefore I will use the opportunity to wish all fans and partners a Merry Christmas. Here are two pictures from the server right now(live), the pictures show the two large halls in Kingsholm and Akersborg castle. Now you get to see how the kings celebrate Christmas.
The banquet hall at Kingsholm Castle. Here they have hung up spruce leaf in the ceiling which are attached with a red ribbon. The table is made ready for dinner later in the evening.
The Olav hall in Akersborg castle is made ready for Christmas dinner. Spruce leaves are hung along the walls and the Christmas tree is decorated at the bottom corner. Here awaits King Haakon that the royal family will be gathered along with the nobles of the capital Akersborg.

A day late because of security measures, Lamberth ordered for a pine tree to be placed in the town square and decorated with large glass spheres, symbolizing the apples placed on the first christmas tree. A feast was also ordered to be held in the palace. However, due to the reduction of funds in architecture, the half built palace was delayed and therefore the feast was held in parliament hall.
Lambeth gave a small speech:
"Well, this is a rather pleasant surprise! For a moment, I thought this wouldn't be done at all! I've been pretty bummed out since my father died and it's awful sad that none of the Swealandian officers will be joining the celebration here in Eulizea, but what can I say? They must be happy with their families and loved ones at home! I wish the same of all of you. My friends, my partners, my family. Merry christmas to all!"
A small session of clapping was held soon after, with a big cheery celebration held by all. However, mid celebration, Lambeth asked to talk with the main chairman of parliament, Frederic Newmann, a wise man.
"Chairman Newmann, may I speak with you for a moment?"
"Of course, Emperor."
The discussion then proceeded outside, to the patio of the house of parliament.
"Frederic, this is not going well. If I retreat the troops from Swealand, they might invade us. If I don't retrieve the troops, the revolutionaries will linch us. If I say noting, parliament will kill me."
"Some battles are best to not fight, my friend. Let go of what you are and you'll become what you'll be."

King Haakon of Northlands have become seriously ill after his annual trip through the country. Several experts see signs of black death and has given notice that he does not have much time left. The message that King Gustav fighting a strong Russia alone shakes his heart. The King's supporters have repeatedly advised Haakon to keep the army within the country now that the Black Death has become an increasing problem. But now Haakon is tired of hiding and watch allies fall one by one. Aake Haraldsson (Minister of Defence) visiting Haakon sitting in the Audience Hall at the castle.
Aake: Your Majesty wanted to see me?
Haakon look up from the table and responds slowly while coughing. Haakon: Prepare the troops, they sail in the morning to Riga. General Svein shall lead them.
Aake: With all due respect, Your Majesty, the residents are sick. When they find out that you are sending troops out of the country there will be riots. They will probably storm the castle. Haakon: If the troops remain in the country they will also be infected, it is only a matter of time. But right now they are healthy and prepared for battle, our allies is weakening. Russia is a threat to us all. We must fight while we still can.
Aake: As you wish, Your Majesty.
King Haakon arranges a meeting with the country's generals and ministers. He gets dressed in his uniform, probably for the last time. The meeting is being held at sunrise. Haakon informs about what is going to happen and they will together find the appropriate plan to deal with the possible consequences of the action. When the meeting is finished they stand up and say together "For King and Fatherland" which is the people's moto.
Later that day, the army stands ready in the courtyard. People have gathered to hear King Haakons speech. Then marched the men out of the castle and down to the harbor where the ships were ready. Haakon was then transported back to the bedroom where he should rest. Crown Prince Olav Haakonson was left at the castle to stand by his father side if something was to happens.
On the other side of the Baltic Sea marched King Gustav and the nobles into cold Russia. Gustav is now behind enemy lines and do not have the opportunity to be informed about the help that is on its way from the Northlands. The plan is to get up at Pernau mountain which has an overview of the city, where they will wait until nightfall and then attack the south west wall that is the city's weakest point.
In Kingsholm the sun has just risen, the sound of people talking and houses being built dominates the city.
Crown Princess Kristina has traveled to the ship yard after trader Marcus visited the castle with request for a new warehouse, now that the current were always full.
Kristina sees the problem and are positive to a new warehouse.
The new the warehouse should be built on the main islet and should only be used to store food and fabric. Then the current warehouse would not be as stuffed as before and therefore Kristina decided it should only be stored timber and construction materials at the ship yard.

Magna City. Great City. Capital of the Eulizean Empire.
Complete quiet.
There was no riots, no revolutions, no demands for anything. Thanks to the wise planning of Lamberth and Parliament everything was safe and healthy. Everything was quiet and peaceful. Too quiet.
Lambeth sat outside the house of Parliament, trying out a new beverage called tea. He prefered imported coffee, but it never hurt to try anything new. He had recovered from the nervous shock of his father dying and was improving the empire to a new image, like his father would have wanted. Newmann had gone to tend matters worth tending, but after 7 straight hours of tending to matters, the young emperor needed a break. He had also brought a small booklet to write down ideas. Unfortunately, said breaks could not be private. There always had to be 2 royal guards guarding him at all times, which made him uncomfortable at times.
Lambeth: You both are relieved of duty. Go back inside. I'm safe out here.
The guards went away as told, closing the door behind them.
At this moment, the rattling of the guards chainmail armor gave him an idea. He took out the booklet and wrote down "Sell iron, 2000 tonnes, to Britons. Typical price, Typical route.". The creaking of the small table he had been eating lunch with gave him yet another idea: "Sell wooden logs, 1000 tonnes, to Frosford, 300 the ton, East Eulizea Trade Route".
Frostford. No one had heard from Frostford nor Wylosia, everyone was concerned and worried that a great catastrophe awaited, yet he didn't worry.
While sitting outside, he noticed a messenger running towards him. Said messenger would flip the world upside down once more.
War was upon them.
Authors note: The computer which I build on is broken at the moment. I typed this up on another computer. Will add images as soon as possible.
After the town's small help to Kingsholm in the war, they tried to stay off the map until they could be more defended. They kept their ship production as their main focus, and the Council thought about selling ships to other nations and forming a military allyship. It was agreed on getting a steady supply of resources before they continued with this ambitious idea.
They also planned on expansion to the north, where they started building a small fort called Snowrock Fort.
Meanwhile, the castle was still in the works, and progress was fast. The only thing left to do was finish the main tower.
A few months later, Frostford sent 5 more ships to the war, but this time they were confident enough they could capture a Russian city for themselves. Doing so would show dominance and the power of the town. Unfortunately, things didn't go according to plan. In their journey, the small fleet encountered a large storm, which destroyed two ships. The storm also caused the fleet to lose their route, and it took them two more weeks to reach Russian land. They docked at a small port town, and the sailors rushed to attack. What they didn't know was that a small Russian army was there, and soon the two armies encountered. The Russians were more skilled than Frostford´s army, and they were easily beaten. It didn't take too long for the Russians to figure out it was Frosford who sent the attack.
Back in Frostford, the people were worried about the brave men who sailed to Russia, but when they saw ships in the horizon they were relieved. However, when they saw it was't five, but seven ships that were coming, they feared it wasn't the Frostford fleet. The townsfolk were watching the ships from the port, when they saw the fleet open fire on the FCS Neptune. Soon, the ship was in fire, the masts falling of, and the few survivors jumping off the deck.
People screamed and ran as the Russians opened fire on the town, and their army ran to the town square. People ran to the castle, while the soldiers burnt the town market down. After that they burnt down the big inn, which collapsed and set fire a row of houses next to it.
Some of the Russians headed to the small farms, while the rest headed for the castle.
Their cannons breached the walls, and they set fire to the Council House and the Ship-Building School. Then they aimed at the castle, and opened fire on it. After some shots, the main tower collapsed, and fell, crushing a part of the roof and the second tower.
People ran to the east side of the island, where they used small cargo ships to sail to Snowrock Fort.
Meanwhile, the Russians left the island, leaving Frostford in flames.
The Frostford people had to start over again, and they couldn't ask for help since it was too risky; now they were all by themselves.
After a 6-day long march Gustav arrives Pernau mountain. While they march up the hill side they discovers the ruins of Pernau fortress that used to be here when Riga was a separate kingdom. On the top is a large part of the wall still left, even if the wall has large holes it works to hide Gustav and the troops until the attack tomorrow morning. They set up the tents and lay down to sleep, only 16 soldiers are left to keep watch. In the middle of the night they awakened by cannon shot down at the harbor and parts of the city lit up by flames. The sound of a bell goes through the city as a sign that they are under attack. Gustav pulls up his telescope and look down at the ships, the flag is red and blue with a golden lion in the middle. It is the Northlands. The fleet is not large, only four of the nine ships are clean gun ships while the 5 others seem to transport soldiers. Gustav knows that if he doesn't do something soon, the whole city's defenses will make the port their target and then the fleet will be shattered. Gustav makes the army ready for an attack, and through the darkness of night marches the soldiers down the hill side. There are few soldiers manning the wall and Gustav have manage to get control of the gate towers. The gate is opened and the army marches in. At the port goes the Northlands ashore, they still doesn't know if Gustav have seen the attack or if they will receive help. Gustav fights through large Russian forces. After a very even match the Russians choose to retreat back the city fortress in the back of the town, the fortress high walls gives them a huge advantage and Gustav know that if they would be able to take the city it will cost many lives. Gustav and General Sveen meet in the town square after the Russians moved back, they plan how they intend to take over the fortress. Gustav says that trying to take the castle is going to cost too many lives, if not the whole army. We have the city. Secure the walls! We wait for them to give up. And everything went as planned, after four days the Russians give up, they are captured and placed in the prison farther down in the city. Finally can Gustav send the message that Riga is under Swealandian command. Gustav sends the news back to Kingsholm with orders to bring gold back to Riga to pay the nobles for their effort. 6 days later comes the reply from Kingsholm, but it's not good news. The town Frostford has been attacked by Russia which led to the entire town was burned down, Swealand has still not recived details about how many in The Counsil that survived the attack. That Russians sail that far north is a bad sign and Gustav fear that Kingsholm are next. He chooses to return to Kingsholm and makes Charles Vikenheim in charge of Riga. 4000 soldiers remain in the city while the remaining 11,000 travel back with Gustav. The Russians had a total loss of 9,000 men, Gustav had lost 15,000.
When Gustav arrive Kingsholm he is met in the same way as after every battle, women are standing silent at the harbour looking curious at the men in the boat with hopes that their dear is still alive. And when the men get off the ship and find their families break the rest into tears, they have lost a husband, brother, father or son. It's a sad day for many.
Gustav choose to drop the welcome ceremony in the square and goes straight up to the throne room.
Gustav asks his advisers to come up to him for a conversation about the news of the attack in Frostford. A small source says that there are survivors after the attack and that they have gone over the mountain to seek cover. The men advises Gustav to show his power by sending a fleet to Frostford and hunt down the Russian fleet. But Gustav reject the proposal. Gustav choose to do nothing. He put the country on alert, if someone were to attack they would get much resistance.
Early one morning comes a message that interests whole Europe. King Frederick William of Germany is dead, and the Germans still doesn't know who will be the next king. In Germany, the person must have the support of the Dukes around the country in order to become king. Frederick William's son, Prince Frederick is probably the one that will be the next king. But for Germany the loss of the king creates great uncertainty. He ruled all of the country and now that it was not clear who would be the new king the country stopped up. Duke Joachim Hector was made temporary head of state in the country.
A few days after Frederick's death comes a German diplomat to Kingsholm. He is led up to the embassy hall, where he meet Gustav. He asks for peace between Swealand and Germany. Gustav is agreed with the proposal but declined to a trade agreement between the countries. Gustav is open to negotiations when the new king is determined.
Now that Germany has made peace with Swealand do also Bugenhagen ask for peace. Gustav says yes considering the strong relationship between the two countries before the war.
3 weeks after the agreement with Germany, the country has a new king. Prince Frederick received support from 8 of the 10 dukes, even the Duchy Prussia supported the new king. This because Frederick has promised more power to the Dukes. This support resulted in Germany and the Duchy of Prussia gathered to the Kingdom of Prussia (now that the Duchy of Prussia was the largest of the two countries). But Brandenburg retains its status as the capital of the new kingdom.
The coronation is held in Konigsberg castle now that Brandenburg castle is getting a new facade. King Gustav is invited to improve the relations between the two countries. Even the Russian king is present during the coronation. Each of the 8 dukes are present, they have their own chairs as a sign that they together with the king govern the country. After the coronation it is held a feast in the castle hall and after that Gustav choose to return to Kingsholm.

The traders which Lambeth had sent to Frostford to sell wood had seen the town go up in flames. Fortunately, the traders caught good winds and managed to head back to Eulizea in time. Soon, the troops were rallied and sent to pick off the remaining Russians. They soon found a lone vessel, ready to set sail back to Russia. The small fleet fired upon them, decimating their forces and burning their ship to a ash. Unfortunately, the rest of the russian army was nowhere to be seen.
Enraged by the treachery of the russians, the Eulizeans declared war against the russians.
Hey guys sorry for taking so long with the Update, but I have been in london for a week (school related). The next update will hopefully come within a few days with some help from my "story crew". Well, I guess that'll do...

Without troops, the empire will fall.
With bad relations, it'll fall too.
What to do???
Well, I guess that'll do...
Well, I guess that'll do...
I cannot see the pictures anymore...
They should be showing now
Thank you, they are. Im loving this thread by the way! Keep going!
Thank you!! Next up date will either be on friday or saturday

Well, I guess that'll do...
Well, I guess that'll do...
I love the story, its really nice
