Welcome to the KEK Department of Transportation road infrastructure showcase thread! Supplementary to my rail system, the highways feature lane markings and overpasses like a conventional dual carriageway.
Materials used are hardened clay. Occasionally yellow and white carpet or gold/iron pressure plates are used as cat-eye reflectors.
Please do not ask for a download of the map or server. Most of the work is on a WIP server that's not public yet.
Road signs are just in-game maps on item frames. You can make custom map items by creating in image with the proper dimensions and saving it as a map file in the server or world folder using a custom program.
Welcome to my signature! I'm on the forums almost everyday (even if its just for a few minutes) So if you have something to tell me or tell me about, just send me a PM (private message) Note- I do not usually check the places I post to see if there are replies, so the above applies. ~Notch
As far as extra decorations to the highway system, 250-500kV AC transmission lines often parallel the ROW for freeways and highways, so I attempted to make a transmission line tower (for presumably a 500kV AC cable).
Older transmission line towers have a lattice structure (shown above). Newer ones have a steel mast, so I may also do a few of those.
Adding roundabouts to the arsenal of KEKDOT engineering. Roundabouts for moderate traffic densities is much more efficient than stop signs, and much cheaper than traffic signals.
In the background, I also added a dead-end transmission line tower to go to underground power (ideally to a transformer substation which hasn't been built yet). There's also a cell phone tower seen to the right.
Here's some more images of the Junípero Strait Crossing. Features a fixed cable stay bridge with a 22km 550kV AC intertie & the old minecart railway on a modified cantilever truss bridge. I updated the streetlights, added traffic signals, added traffic cameras, and updated guardrails as well. Added some proper abutments and added some culverts where needed based on the terrain. For some of the viaducts, I intend to use anvils as bridge bearings on the supports.
On a 1.7 server I play on, I added road signs via maps.

I'm glad to finally see people use hardened clay for making roads, it looks much nicer that the previous alternative wool. The bridges and transmission line towers shown are really nice.
That's crazy KEK, I can't believe all of the absurd amount of time and effort you must've put into this build. You're a very meticulous person, and the meticulous people always have the sharpest eye for little details. Hats off to you my friend, hats off.

I use a modified private shader based on SEUS 10.2 Ultra with Global Illumination with the default texture pack.
