I'm trying to think of designs for a bedroom. But, I just can't. Please post some screenshots of yours or a nice looking bedroom. Thank you a ton if you do!
I would like the bedroom to follow these guidelines, though
1. MUST be Vanilla Texture Pack!
2. No modded items introduce into the design.
3. Must have a functioning bed.
Thank you!
Can't access Minecraft atm, but here are some ideas. Put bookshelves next to the bed, to act like a bedside table, put pots with flowers ontop of the bookshelves, and throw some paintings around. Not the best ideas, but meh xD

That seems like a nice idea but my bedroom is quite large. I'd need a bit more stuff but again, not a bad idea.

Maybe put down some stairs, and put signs on the sides to act as a chair. Also, you could make a fish tank like so, and then put trap doors around the bookshelf
Currently not finished but already in use is my main bedroom. A quite large room. You could still add some stuff here and there. I'm still working on it. Instead of ladders (which look a bit like drawers in my texture pack) you could use signs. Instead of the cobblestone you could use wool and use another picture that looks better. The room is made to be used with a TP.
This is a small double bedroom under the roof of my farm house in case I'd get some guests sometimes. It might not be helpful to you but there's some smaller ideas here, for example the couch corner. You could put a bed in the middle of the crafting table instead of the outside.
This sounded like an interesting little challenge, so I whipped this up in creative mode. I took some of alpha's suggestions and ran with them.
A few basic things; Space is your friend, the larger you make a room, the more detail you can fit in it. Trim is a really easy way to make things look nice, and to stop your interiors from being plain boxes. And you can't have everything: fireplaces and large picture windows and walk-in closets would be nice in a bedroom too, but I decided against trying to cram them in to this design. I could of course make a bigger room, but, eh. Also, if you really want to make something cool, keep in mind that there's a rich history of architecture and interior design here in the real world, and taking a look at some of it can help your Minecraft building immensely.
I am not sure if anyone else has this problem, but I can never respawn from a bed if it is surrounded by half-slabs. The game counts it as 'Missing or Obstructed', so all I could say is to be careful.
My bedrooms tend to be smaller, but maybe some of them will help with ideas?
Simple Forest-y Bedroom:
There's not a lot of decoration, here, but there are small accents with the leaves/stone floor and vines.
"Pink" Room:
Netherrack and birch, with nether brick fence posts to create a four-poster bed and glowstone lamps. Plus? A fishtank and fireplace.
Water Room:
The floor is a layer of torches covered by glass, four layers of water, and then a top floor of glass. Items (like beds, torches, and chests) can't be placed on glass, so the stone slabs act as supports for furniture.
Skull Room:
Four-poster double bed using stone fence pieces to create the posters. Plus a nice, large fireplace.
Bunkbeds:
Created using doors and two beds. Just make sure that there are at least two clear blocks above the top bed, or you'll suffocate when you wake up.
Carpet designs:
Sometimes carpets are enough to spruce up a room. The first is a bit more complicated, with three colors of wool in interlocking L shapes (like tetris pieces). The second is a simpler "rug"
Good luck, and happy designing!

I use this kind of bed since months and never had problems...
