The city is about 99% finished, pics in the 4th post
Hey everyone! I'm working on my second adventure map ( sequel) and I came here to get some thoughts, suggestions and feedback on an area I'm close to completing. So here's a quick overview of what these screenshots are of.
You can call this area the first "dungeon" if you want of the map. It's a mix of outdoors and indoors. It's an incan city built into the cliffs and mountains of Peru. Inspired by Machu Pichu in Peru and Mesa Verde in Colorado.
I'll post 3 shots so you can get an idea of the place from different angles.
This is a shot of some of the valley floor, the whole place is surrounded by custom mountains made with a mix of mcedit and hand crafting. You can see the main gate to a mountain with a temple on it in the distance as well as the stairs up to the temple.
This is a shot of the south side of the cliffs, I went went with very basic and ancient style stone buildings similar to ones seen in real life cliff cities
This is the north cliffs on the opposite side of the valley. The stone structures going fromt eh top to the bottom are for waterfalls that are controlled by pistons and a lever, used as a checkpoint system if you fall.
I went with night shots to give an idea of how the lighting makes the place look at night. Once again any feedback, suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated thank you
How long is this map? would you recommend this for 4 people or even 3?
Funny you should ask, I'll be releasing 1 player, 2 player and 3-4 player versions as seperate downloads.
As for length the map is looking to be 2 hours + with a straight run through. Longer if you go to the secret dungeons and areas I'm planning. This is just the first major area of the map. I have 2 more areas I need to work on still so it'll be a bit. One is a floating garden type dungeon high above the nazsca lines in the peru deserts. (Nazsca lines are a place in south america with huge drawings of birds and other animals drawn into the sand a long time ago, they're so big you can see them from sattelite.) The other is an underwater city kinda like atlantis.
Nice work! It's a good subject to build on. Is there ruins on top of the mountain like the real Machu Picchu, I can see clearly. Suggestion: Expand the area by adding some Nazca Lines on the ground; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazca_Lines

For the ruins on top that's a good idea, it's something i want to do but was limited by space and dungeon design. Maybe I could add a way up there as a bonus area/extra challenging portion with nice rewards. I've already added a temple to the summit of the highest peak but space was limited as I had to add a large redstone contraption involving a 2 minute timer and multiple 10-20 second loops under and around the temple for an event inside.
As for the Nazsca lines, would you believe me if I said that is actually the planned second area of the map ?
I know it's a longshot here but have you played a game called Illusion of Gaia, it's an old one. If so then you know where I'm going with this. If not, the idea is to have massive floating gardens as a sort of puzzle/dungeon area high above the lines. Where if you look down from the gardens you'll see the entire drawing from a great perspective. I'm considering doing 3 of the lines, the hawk/bird, spider and monkey.
Thanks for the feedback and suggestions it's great to get some solid ideas on how to improve the area and it's also pretty awesome someone else was thinking of the nazsca lines.

Cool man! You have great ideas. The floating gardens to see the entire lines, this is cool! I encourage you in your project. But I don't know the game you are mentionning. Good luck with your work. I agree with your choices: the hummingbird (I think that is the name), the spider and the monkey (my favorite one). Check on Google Earth, you'll have a good view of them (some are very hard to find. Actually, I was never able to find the monkey!!). I was planning to add one of the Nazca line too on my project; not sure if I'll do... too many stuff on my schedule!! - Ciao!
