If Pandaria ever gets released, there will be a standalone download with just the Pandaria tiles in them. You won't need to do anything special. Just extract and overwrite.
Great! i fought you were going to remake the whole world and (skip this blabla)... So we are going to have a seperate download with only the files of pandaria to replace in the current map?
PERFECT!!!
So how is that mini version going? is it going bether than you planned and are the new blocks included?
The mini version is coming along well. I'm still tweaking the algorithm a bit so that trees have solid trunks similar to real Minecraft trees. I also want the terrain to be smooth enough to walk on. I'd like it to be a functional survival map if possible.
Any new blocks will have to be added via find-replace. There are a couple places I plan to do that (e.g. granite in redridge, instead of netherrack) but it has to be done manually because it's just a downscaled version of the 1.0 map, not a re-render.
I would like to release it a week or so before Blizzcon. That's not guaranteed yet, it's just what I'd like to do.
Are you still working on the regular version? It would be so awesome to play WoW in Minecraft with a cubic chunks mod. Do you think it would be possible to convert your layers to one layer when a cubic chunks mod is released? Maybe with the missing parts of the world tree and icecrown glacier. Just imagine the view.
If a mod like that were released, it would be fairly trivial to convert the altitude layers into a single map. We already did it once to generate the Overviewer render.
U can do it on your own, use mcedit, copy a part of the world you want, use iexplorer to open a mcpe world on your ipod, ipad or iphone and paste, save, close and taadaa! There are many tutorials if you like more description. Heres my favorite :
Hey Rumsey, I'm planning on adding all the World of Warcraft NPC's with their text/possibly quests? into a copy of the map. Would that be okay with you to use it for that purpose, and use it on my server?
Is there an alternate way to multiplayer this besides craftbukkit, it went dead cause of DMCA takedown
The sourcecode for the plugins is available on github if someone wants to port them. I don't have the time to do it right now. It's unfortunate that bukkit is gone, that's a lot of work from a lot of people completely wasted.
If Mojang releases a first-party mod API I might rewrite the plugins for that, but I don't know when that will be possible.
This is a very neat idea, but, in practicality, it doesn't accomplish much. The conversion can only do so much. It would take an immense amount of hand-crafted fine tuning to make the world actually playable. As it is, it's interesting to fly through in creative mode to see all the familiar sites.
Version 2.0 should be a community effort sort out the details - perhaps starting with good 'ol Elwynn Forest. I'd love to have my server's spawn set to Northshire Abbey.
I haven't the foggiest. Whatever the files are south of the great sea.
Why would you need to know that? I don't even need to know that.

Also, does anyone know how to raise the clouds? I'm still getting used to the server side of things but this is the only thing that looks weird to me.
Thanks,
Chris

That should be possible with the Optifine, but I don't think it's updated for 1.8 yet.
