You'll see the cave in the distance, leading down to caves, lava, and my nether portal. And a pool!
So close I can fish from my porch :smile.gif:
And of course I have a Minecart to take me back and forth from the surface (where you can see the main above-ground rail tracks):
It's the third dome in my current world, and the biggest, but in the distance of some of the pics you can see a cross extending up in the water; that'll be the top of a new, bigger planned dome. Even so, overall I think it's a pretty nice place:
What do you guys think?

Everything I build is 100% legit. No mods, no tools, nothing but time and effort.
I'm heading out now, but I can when I get back if you really want it. I'm working with the sailingisfun seed, and like I said, this is only the current biggest in a series:
I'm just going to work my way up until I decide to plan something this big:
On the other side of the island, THEN I'll be satisfied with possessing a creation worthy of the praise epic.
And yes, everything I do is 100% legit. A texture pack is as far as I'll go, and even then (as you can see from the pics) I won't stray far from default. I do have pics of construction, but they're boring as you'd expect, slowly a dome appears from the top down filled with dirt inside ready to be dug away and lowered onto the next phase.
Excellent job! Most underwater bases usually seem to be rather...bare. Nice work with the greenery! And bonus points that it looks to be a proper, spherical dome. (Though I can't quite tell from the screenshots)

Is this really legit? Awesome work, it's so satisfying to build huge projects legit. My first projects were legit, but I became lazy and my now my latest project, a city, is done with TooManyItems...
I've always done everything in Minecraft legit. It is really satisfying to see a large work grow day by day. I can understand why people get lazy, but I just take whatever book I'm reading and listen to the audiobook version while I'm building (currently 1632). My mind pays all the attention to it, so hours and a good story later, it seems as if all of a sudden tons of work was done without even noticing.

My first underwater bases somewhat were, but that was a while ago. I had to quit once 1.7 came out and made it unplayable with lag, but I decided to try again with 1.0.0, and it seems fixed. Even so, I decided to try with a new world.
The greenery is awesome. The first time round the options were pretty spare, but now I have tons of options, including (if only 1) a water plant! I still need to get pumpkins, watermelon, and birch. And maybe that weird new nether plant. But it is pretty well done I think. I would change things if I could: make the house 1m larger to the left, make the pond not so uniform, and no matter how many arrangements of trees I've tried I've never been fully content...oh well :-/.
Even so, while it looks like there's a lot of space to put stuff, it is pretty cramped, which is why I'm eager to start work on the new, larger dome. I've built 6 total now, and I gain experience every time, so that when I finally do build one 400m across, I'll know what to do with it, and how to go about doing it. For example, building my first domes, I used to just flood the whole area with sand/gravel, torch them out, then build on dry ground and refill when I'm done. With domes these size, that's just not even slightly practical, so I've had to adopt a new method. Now I get two or three layers done, then build dirt lines two or three deep and with two spaces between them, and bucket it all out. I'm open to advice though.
And it is spherical, or at least, based off the perfect sphere topic diagrams. My first attempts weren't, they were just copied from trial and error domes I constructed above above ground rail stations when I finally felt competent to build underwater. Now I'm going off the blueprints, but again, I'm open to advice if you know another source.
In the future, in addition to building more domes (for livestock, netherworld, a larger farm dome than the one to the far left in the picture of the current three), and connecting them with well done underwater tunnels, I'll make at least one dome that has "broken", built to look ruined and run down, with the top broken in places and the place flooded. So many ideas, so many plans... I'll get to them eventually

Eww, Megaupload? Can you use another website? (Just a note: I don't care what anyone says about it being safe; I just have issues with Megaupload in general.)

Well with AdBlock/NoScript alone there's no issues. I can understand why you're hesitant though, so here's a mirror. I do think MediaFire links are common on this site, but if you know any other sites that might be preferable, well...

Honestly, I trust Mediafire more than all these other websites (though I personally use another website, but I'm sure you guys wouldn't know about it).
Aaaaaaaaaanyway, so I bet Creepers are a nightmare in these... lol.
Haven't had a problem with them yet, luckily. The land above is lit up for hundreds of meters in all directions, so nothing coming down the stairs. The cave is lit up enough far enough down that nothing's coming up either. I have worried about things coming down from the trees, but it hasn't happened yet, so... In my previous ones I did have such an issue, but I hope it's not needed this time. If it is, I'll just throw some glowstone under the leaves and that should do it.

nice job building all that legit. I understand why you play legit. I used to create with the ressources I hardly found. But today, I add some mods that helps me building and it brings the creativity experience to another dimension. The time you take to find the ressources is time you could had save to build some stuffs. But I understand the feeling to see your creations growing little by little each and every day... and thats a nice feeling. A dome underwater... it must have been difficult to do?
Again, nice builds!

Thanks. It wasn't too difficult, once I got the hang of it. I have pics of it, but you can see the method illustrated in this (outdated) pic of the one I'm working on now:
Just time consuming is all.

Cool stuff. I'll happily wait for the planned big dome to finish, inspiration is always welcome - my own underwater domes look pretty bleak and plain because I simply can't design anything fun. But perhaps your thread gives me some ideas :smile.gif:
a little heads one of the camp 3 missions i forgot to add so when you get to the gather info mission you can skip that one i would really like it if you left some feed back about my map all the mods you need to install are at that link plz down load it! thx
When you walk in, you can see to the left:
A house!
With bed and crafting table downstairs:
Chests and furnaces upstairs:
Then if you look to the right:
You'll see the cave in the distance, leading down to caves, lava, and my nether portal. And a pool!
