I recently designed this primarily as a living space for my wolves, but its also useful for storage, and looks good right next to your farms :cool.gif: This is definitely significantly larger than the other two, hopefully that is okay with everyone :unsure.gif: Please tell me what you would like to see in future builds in the comments, wont bother me at all lol.
Also, you dont have to follow my ideas exactly, be creative and do your own thing! (Post pictures as well, they're nice to look at :tongue.gif:)
One last thing before I start :laugh.gif: I made a Twitter especially for my builds. Im on there constantly (now even) and its a great way to reach me with whatever you might need. Here's the link!
HowTo: Build A Barn
To begin you will need:
* 479 Wooden Planks
* 667 Logs
* 30 Fence
* 30 Signs
* 12 Wooden Doors
* 64 Torches
* Pickaxe/Shovel/Axe for digging and mistakes
[**A Piece of Wool Separates Steps**] Note: I was placing the last of the items used for this build in the chest when a creeper came and blew up the chest and part of my castle wall :sad.gif: I went and counted everything to try and be as accurate as possible but be aware the numbers might not be 100% correct. I'm sorry, I tried my best.
I know this is a lot of wood, but well worth it. If you don't want to destroy your forests you can also replace the logs with red wool and the wooden planks with white wool on the outside. IMHO that would look just as good. It will give it like an old style cartoon effect lol
Step 1.) Dig a Hole (Insert Yogscast Joke Here) 17x17x1 to be exact
Step 2.) Fill it with Wooden Planks
Step 3.) Outline your walls with Logs
Just in Case Your Still Confused

Step 4.) Fill the "holes" with Wooden Planks
Step 5.) Ring the Door Frames with Logs, Just for a decorative look, totally optional :wink.gif:
Step 6.) Time for the stalls, I really over complicated this when I began building it. I tried different designs for 2 days and finally settled on this one. This can be easily changed to how big/little and how many stalls you want in your barn. For this I made 6. I'm not going to go into extreme detail when it comes to building the stalls because I really want to see how you made them however once I post this I will come back and put pictures in a spoiler box that show how I did it step by step. :wink.gif: (So don't be to mad :rolleyes:)
I tried to keep it as symmetrical as possible, you can see the middle stall is off but I want to keep it double doors because of the wolves struggle to go though just 1 door.
Here's a view from inside the of the middle stall, shows how I did the walls
A view from the other side
A top-ish view
Then I just reproduced the first side on the other
Here's the steps to making the Barn Stalls like I did. (For one side. Just repeat for the other :wink.gif: )
Go 3 blocks up from the floor and connect the back to the front of the barn with Logs
Where the Logs go down on the walls bring Logs down
Place logs across the bottom, leaving space for the doors
Add doors
Connect from the Log "pillar" to the wall like so
Repeat on the other side
Place the last of the Fences across the middle
...All the way down
...Go to the end
Step 7.) Now lets roof this thing! Again I put Wooden Planks down for a more decorative look, plus it works as a guide for the roof.
Then I placed Logs to frame the loft
Then I went a little higher
Now cover the entire top with Logs with 1 sticking off both ends
-=-=-=-=-
-=-=-=-=-
Keep going until the entire thing is covered
Step 8.) Connect the 2 Lofts with Logs and place Torches to light up the inside and outside
And that's it!
Now all you have to do is move in your animals!
...Or Zombies... :tongue.gif:
Thanks for Viewing and Enjoy :biggrin.gif:
Remember to post your pictures for everyone to see!
Also.. I went one size larger on the pictures? I didnt want to go to big and just over kill it.. So is this better or should I go larger? I use Flickr so it has the different sizes. Just comment what you prefer (along with comments and requests for future builds!)

Hey Truffles I really love your building tutorials! I have made a ton of the docks you showed us how to make, and I also made a well, which by the way, is absolutely beautiful I was wondering if you could next make a fishing port. Thanks for reading, hope you consider my idea
Unfortunately you cant willingly make them go in to a barn stall. However a couple of stray sheep wandered into my barn and I gently nudged them into a stall. As for chickens, you can do the same thing or throw eggs at the wall until they spawn.
However in both cases, if you walk to far away (possibly after a period of time) they will de-spawn :sad.gif:
Possibly, in the 1.8 Update to go a long with the Farming "skill" being added in game this will allow us to raise animals and such and I guess "tame" them (for lack of better words, maybe wolves can become sheep dogs :laugh.gif:) and then players will be aloud to keep them.
Other than I don't believe there is an actual way.
Really nice, I didn't use your idea just to make a barn i used it on building my house and i also replaced the wooden planks with sandstone it looks nice too
Nice! i use baby animals, mo creatures, and more creeps and weirdos so i cant wait to build this barn and have all farm animals in there. i will have cows, pigs, sheep, and chickens in there it since i can now tame them with baby animals and a stable for my horses from mo creatures. also i will probably make a large stable for camels and giraffes just for lolz. also i will probably change the log roof to cobble since i use a texture pack that makes cobble actually look good and i really like the look af having atleast 3 different resources in a building.
i will upload a few pics of it with all the animals and everything once im done if you would like to see it. but dont expect it until atleast next weekend, i just started this world and want to do it all legit, so i have to collect all the supplies first

Yes, please share! :smile.gif:
and I totally understand changing the roof. If your building these legit. That's a crazy amount of logs and im sure that would definitely kill a forest or 2 :laugh.gif:
