Civcraft - A Political Experiment Like You've Never Seen Before

  • #1

Welcome to a world which belongs to its players. Civcraft is an experiment for communities, political ideologies, debate, and discussion. Our backstory is based on history, not fiction. We're forming a new direction for gameplay, not just about surviving the elements, but about surviving each other, where players can work together to create and shape civilization or to watch it crumble. A world open to any idea, manifesto or philosophy, created by the players. You build this world, but in doing so you take on the responsibilities of protecting it. This is the great pastime and challenge of mankind: Civilization.

Civcraft employs several very specifically designed modifications to seriously change the typical Minecraft user experience. Of these, two are the most important:

Prison Pearl is a modification which allows players to effectively ban other players via the use of an enderpearl. When one player kills another with an enderpearl in their hotbar, their victim is bound to the pearl and sent to the End. The Pearl itself can be destroyed, freeing the player, but this often requires cooperation or coordination. There are no administrator bans on Civcraft for griefing: players must take it into their own hands to capture and imprison those who would seek to do harm to them or their property.

Citadel allows people to expend resources to protect their property. Each block you place in the game can be reinforced with a single unit of material: stone, iron, or diamond, each material giving an increasingly high reinforcement value. In order to break and destroy these blocks, someone would have to break the reinforced block potentially hundreds of times. In this way, players can protect their own property in a manageable, pseudo-realistic manner, forcing players to band together to remove certain blocks or build safe structures.
