We've considered it, however it DOES kinda mess with the mentality of the player knowing their world is now limited and restricted. Many people play Minecraft to experience the freedom. So we won't be installing anything for now. We'll just ask that players not sail for hours on end again for a week straight to see if they can break 100,000...
However if the trolls/griefers start to become THAT dedicated to sit there for hours/days just expanding our world, and if the situation arises that this becomes a very common thing we might have to consider the border.
Open regions!
There ARE a few regions opened due to the amount of builds placed in game so feel free to look around. However as in our last world this was the prime issue that led to us having to restart our world. People exploring for hours, days at a time just simply sailing the oceans.
I know the feeling of exploration is what drives many of you but I'm here-by asking you guys, try and stay under 50,000. However if you REALLY need to get far away from civilization then I ask that you use the nether as a way to fast travel. I'd much rather long huge tunnels in the nether with occasional pop ups in the overworld than tons of empty chunks of ocean that are being un-used. Worst comes to worst next year I could just reset the nether and keep things going.
Worried about your builds and claims?
Currently most if not all are under an "Admin claim". We'll do our best to transfer them all to the correct players, however we'll need your help should we have missed any. If you see a nice build that's unclaimed with no signs as to who it is, alert the admin. If admin is not present? Claim it yourself! We'll see to it that you're rewarded for protecting the build till he arrives.
Requested Privacy?
Upon entry you'll have to let me know. I currently have a list with the coordinates so I'll give you them out or admin will TP you to your home. Remember, we need you to at least sign on once on the server before we can transfer an admin claim to you. So even if you don't have time to play right away, just pop in real quick so we can get you situated.
Region posts
We WERE planning that there be no more posts in the wild, however there's some issues configuring the plugin to work as such. That being said as far as I know, the posts are still out there. Again though we ask that you explore the land, and if you want to head out you can sail, just not for hours at a time. Use the nether for long distances.
That's pretty much it...our starting area is somewhat a little bland being as how they're just a box selection around a persons build from the old world and brought in here. So we're relying on all of you to make the area around your build "pretty". We all work on that for just a little bit I'm thinking we could get a nice looking village going on, lol.
Lastly we'd like to thank all you guys for being so patient with us as we transferred this stuff over. And regretfully we have to ask you to be patient once more as we get the builds situated and sorted out and transferred to you.
A user went and made a fan video regarding out server! Go check it out! lol
(Intro is a tad long, video starts at 25 seconds in and just showcases some builds from our "Monument" region where the grand builds from our previous world were transferred over)
Of course we welcome anyone to record and post footage of our server, that being said, the more effort you put into the video, the better reward you're likely to get from the admin. Most likely in the form of claim blocks so you can claim even more land.
I was wondering if possible could we get Dynmap plugin installed, I'm assuming this is a craftbukkit server since the other protection plugins are craftbukkit. It would be cool to get a sense of where all the named region posts are in relation to each other and also see our village from a top down perspective for planning purposes. It's pretty easy to set up, I've set it up on a server I used to help run in the past. Would be great to see our minecraft world from a different perspective.
Also Steve was mentioning the possibility of having an arena set up. He also mentioned that it may be possible to set up pvp claims, was wondering what the reality of that might be, maybe not right away but say in the next three months? A few of my friends would like to do some pve/pvp beyond just the standard normal difficulty of monsters right now. I know that may not be the original intention for the server, but was wondering if there was flexibility in how the server may grow to accomodate those that maybe interested in these type of activities going forward.
In our last map/world before we were forced to reset I had built a little arena for players to use. It was mainly to fight Withers and for people to "spleef" or whatever it's called in. However every now and then, even though it's a Damn Near Vanilla server, either myself or even Steve sometimes does little competitions.
Mine were more along the lines of archery competitions, foot races, and the like. However the arena soon became popular enough that people went crazy over having a little place where they could fight it out against hoards of mobs and try and survive. As far as I know we're currently in the process of setting up a new arena. Bigger and fancier than our last one too. So PvE is definitely gonna come just as a little side gimmick. It's no where close to being the main point of the server
- - -
Far as Dynmap goes, me and Steve were talking about it last night when he said someone mentioned it on server, I'm now assuming that was you, lol.
Unfortunately we agreed it be best not to include. We strive to be as close to a vanilla experience as possible and our current plugins are only there because they're the best way to handle to handle griefers/trolls and protecting what you own. Far as region posts go, they're every 400 blocks in a grid fashion across the world. As you continue out they'll generate in the wild. Wanting to to see the area you'll have to build a lookout or something, we want people to explore and see these places as they were intended, not on a map far away.
We also had the problem that people who move into the wild to be away from people whether cause they have a large build or just want to be left alone would then have their locations compromised. In theory it would be a grand idea for maybe other servers who want basic protection, but want their own flavor of minecraft.

As for PvP claims? It's possible. I know that much. It's been discussed before. However if there were to be any like...PvP enabled claims? It would be solely restricted to the arena and no where else. Whether it will be implemented? Is unknown. Our goal is to just get things set up as they are. Then we'll see about things like that
Cool thanks for the quick response, also on behalf of NoOneButPaul, DeConMasterson, Raptorhill, Mercer14 and Morendeath thanks again for providing a great server. We would absolutely be up for some of the activities you mentioned as well as the arena project once its completed. We are really enjoying our time at region Stream, our new home away from home.
If anyone new is interested in joining us at region Stream just stand next to a region post as described above and type in /visitregion Stream
Best place to build is west and north of the town center, here are some screen shots of our welcome center as well as a horizon shot of the area where best to build. West of the town center towards the jungle there is space along side the right side of the road as you get closer to the jungle river there is room on the left of the road. You can also cross the bay bridge to the north that heads to the mountains where there is plenty of space for new homes.
Welcome to Stream!
For new people direction where you want to build is north and west, once you build a decent house you'll be added to the founding members list in the welcome center.
Hello! I had built up a shop in the Stream-region but two days after it was finished my computer crashed and I couldnt start it.
Luckily it may be fixed in couple of weeks so do not worry cause I will be back.
/ APQvist
Hey APQvist, no problem whenever you get back that's cool, will let the others that live around in you the Stream region know. BTW Dukecool is making a villager center across the road from you as we've begun to convert zombies to villagers so people can trade emeralds for stuff they give. Once it's done the villager center should look pretty cool.
Here is a screenshot of the first zombie we captured and started to cure him so he can become a villager:
The region of Stream has gone through many changes in the past few days, we've gone from a population of 10 to close to double that number now, with many new faces joining us every other day. We've also grown from a small settlement into a full blow thriving town. Bellow are some screen shots of our Town Hall, Lighthouse, Stream Sign, some shops from the business district, future villagers center and some select homes. Although we are currently bustling we are also currently in the process of clearing some jungle and making available some land for home building along the river shoreline. If you are interested in joining us make sure once you get on the server to type:
/visitregion stream
There are signs at the town hall to point you in the right direction on where you may want to begin building and as always you can talk with some of the town founders such as noonebutpaul and orenbus which may have a good idea where you may want to begin. Also if you haven't used the server plugin once you are ready to establish your home, its extremely easy to use and very helpful in securing your belongings.
And now without further to do the town screenshots:

Anyone looking for adventure, start a new home, or become a part of a community, the town of stream has recently completed connecting a new road to neighboring region of glenwood and jungle areas in between. We also have nether portals set up for easy access to stream's town center, there is also still plenty of room for you home developers along the river banks.
We are currently in the process of building a villager market where you will be able to exchange those nice emeralds you find in certain regions for valuable items from the npc villagers. The market will also include a place to test your aim with a bow and arrow and for competitions along with possible other attractions such as battling and survival tests. Join the number one region on the Just Minecraft server today!
New players I REALLY suggest you take a look at the above posts.
It's around 11 PM EST now and the server has somewhat died down for the night. Only about half full. If you're a late night player or just in a different time zone now's a great time to join.
For current members of the server a quick little update. Issues regarding players "hacking" and "cheating" have been resolved. However nothing is ever foolproof. Know someone who's hacking in some way? Whisper it to a mod or the admin in game, if your claim is correct and leads to the discovery of a hacker/cheater you'll be rewarded.
So far the reward is just some iron till staff can talk things over and come to a decision on how to go about this
Stream's new Villager Market is nearing completion as can be seen in this picture on the right you can make out the central keep surrounded by the bazaar tents which will hold villagers of different category items.
As this project is nearing completion we will be starting up a couple more town projects including a town library with enchanting table and anvil that town members will be able to use. The library will be located near a town public mob spawner for those looking for accessible table after having gained some xp. We are also looking at a couple of other new projects and currently considering volunteers for those projects, so if you are a builder (internal/external/underwater/other), gatherer, redstone engineer, shop owner, mob fighter, etc. we want you to help us bring stream to the next level! Also if you are just starting off to the game of minecraft we welcome you with open arms as well, there is new land being cleared, as I am typing this, that will be used for anyone interested in building a new home for themselves in a great and growing community. Welcome to Stream.
If anyone is new to the server and looking for a place to build a home, store or other please contact orenbus or noonebutpaul in game. We both can show you where are some good places to build around regions stream and glenwood.
To whisper a player in game type the following command:
/w <player> <message>
here is an example:
/w orenbus hi could you show me where I can build a house?
If noonebutpaul or I are online and near stream or glenwood we would be happy to help you out and also give a tour of some of the perks of being a citizen of stream.
However if the trolls/griefers start to become THAT dedicated to sit there for hours/days just expanding our world, and if the situation arises that this becomes a very common thing we might have to consider the border.
For now though we're fine.
