Just kidding, got on tonight. But yah tried getting back into this server, but god does 1.8 **** this up... it's impossible to go more than 3000 blocks away from spawn (to where it might be possible to find a tree) without starving to death. There is absolutely NO food near spawn, except for zombies, and no wood either within accessible reach. You'll starve to death before you can even accomplish anything...
Edit: Go to nether, get mushrooms, have food, profit :biggrin.gif:
Best MC server out there, its just a cesspool at spawn. you have to find an abandoned farm, I suggest fanning out in the -Z direction, there may be some farms in that direction. good luck to the newfags :tongue.gif:
Server will shut down for one or two days anytime the following weeks. It will be announced in the log-in motd.
It will receive new hardware and run on faster storage, which should allow more players on this messy world with a bit less lag.
Also any ideas on how to celebrate a 1 year old world?
A good way to celebrate the 1 year old world would be to try and get everyone to go back to the spawn area and clean it up a bit; plant some trees, maybe. Try and throw down some dirt instead of so much cobblestone so that maybe animals might spawn there again. I'd pitch in and bake a few cakes to be left nearby for newbs. Since you can't pick them up again after they are set down they might last a little while (maybe).
Spawning on 2b2t is like waking up in hell, lol. Although that does appeal to myself and many others, it also makes it difficult for newer players to get a toe-hold on the server. If the spawn area was a little less ecologically hostile we might see a rise in usership.
That being said, I'm sure some group of griefers would either use it as an opportunity to ambush the volunteers or otherwise they would grief the hell outta spawn again as soon as the clean-up was done.
Either way if you used FRAPS to record the event it would be a good publicity stunt even if we all got wiped out by griefers. Just my 2 cents.
Won't be up today, a bit sorry about that. The fix wasn't as easy as I thought. Although it's backed up now and has to go through some serious patchwork. It will most likely be back tomorrow in good shape.
