I'm new to Minecraft (as of Xmas day 2015) and I would like to play multiplayer. I'm trying to find a vanilla, player vs environment survival type server. While I can find those requirements easy enough, there are other tags that I have no clue to their meaning. Is there a key or place that explains the tags somewhere for a rank newbie like myself? And how exactly do I find the server I want (assuming I'm accepted by the whitelist app?) and log on? I have checked the Minecraft Wiki, but there's a base assumption of knowledge that I don't have and I'm not sure how to get.
So after you start minecraft, you're brought to a screen
Singleplayer
Multiplayer
Realms
You're going to want to click on Multiplayer, obviously.
now you see a couple of tabs in the bottom, one in particular
says, ''Add Server'' Booyahh! we're like 70% there. Now you see
two editable inserts and a few tabs.
The first editable insert is for you to name the server.
Now this can simply be the name of the server you're about to play on or, whatever you'd like to put really..
The next tab says server address, that's the one that is unique to each server. Each server has it's own unique IP
in a nut shell, every time you apply for a server when there's a whitelist, you usually don't see the address until the
owner looks at the applications, and accepts you. The owner would then proceed to message you either through the forums.
You'll notice on the top right of the webpage there's a letter that's your inbox, the one next to it is your notifications, and yes you
guessed it the next one is your profile. Nowadays they use skype, basically you can choose to add them on skype or have them
add you on skype. (usually not recommended to send it publicly, you can instead message them privately through the forums, your skype id.)
Anyways, after that whole process they'll also message you the IP (that's the server address.) You put that in the second editable insert, then hit
''Done''
Boom, now the server is there for you to play on, either double click on it, or in the bottom tabs you can click join server. (you'd still have to click on the server.) As to the other tags, I haven't a clue what you're talking about, maybe give me an example?
Also, if you probably knew all this and you're just looking for a server that fits your criteria, I got one for you, I've sent you the IP. Welcome to join.

You just need the server IP, and then you have to put in your "multiplayer", then "add server", as the guy above me said.
Thank you thank you thank you! This is the information that I needed. Really appreciate the timely info xtcSix, NASH0XX1:)
