What makes you interested in Coastal Online? I've been looking for an mmo type server for awhile and having everything custom sounds amazing! It also seems that the team is seriously invested in this server and I'm always extremely happy to see that.

Just an update on how progress is going so everyone can get a grasp of where we're at.
In the last couple of weeks, we've planned new Expeditions, game mechanics and game content. Some of this game content will extend the duration of development by a bit, but the design choices we made were important ones as we wanted to create a game atmosphere that's unique to the Minecraft community.
Map Development
As of the last update, we're currently 9/30 maps completed, finishing off our next batch of maps which will put us at 13/30. It seems like this is taking forever, and it really does feel this way, but the map development team is committed to creating quality maps for everyone to play on.
The Engine
On the side of getting the server's engine running, we're looking at 60% total completion, with most of the database and information storage stuff completed. We're actually looking into bosses, special boss attacks, monsters in general and items for the next while. We've decided to also revamp some of the old design choices we previously made, a large one being combat.
Combat
Combat is a very important key factor to Coastal Online. We want to ensure that our combat system is something truly unique that combines team effort and strategy to play. We do love Minecraft, but let's be honest, Minecraft combat revolves around clicking as fast as you can.
The way we've worked combat to work, it's about timing your attacks so you don't miss an opportunity to attack, dodging with backwards dashes and waiting for openings to deal heavy damage. We've also got durability on our gear, and knockback stats as well as STR, AGI or INT bonuses. Lifesteal will play a big role in what weapon to choose, and ultimate damage.

Damage is set out in a way that gives a range based on a percentage (80% being damage can range from 0.8-1.2*dmg of wep). It's really complicated stuff, there's flat damage bonuses too.
All together, it creates a really crazily complicated yet simple system to pick up. We hope that this combat system changes the way you'll view combat in Minecraft and helps you strategize you're encounters with monsters.
