Have you ever wanted to sell Minecraft servers but have not had the money or knowledge to get started? Well at VelocityHosting we have created a program that is meant to help you take off running!
What is needed to host Minecraft Servers:
To host and sell Minecraft servers you must start with at least one server in which you can divide up into many Minecraft instances. You also need a control panel that gives users access to their servers and can optionally set up and divide servers automatically. Lastly, you need a support network... this can be as simple as an email address or a full fledged support ticket system/livechat/phone support. (An important note is that clients love instant access to support, that combines with the ease of live chat makes live chat one of the most used and beloved options.) Many will argue, and rightly so, that there are many other components to hosting... but this is the down and dirty to get you started.
Why you need us:
The single biggest hurtle to hosting servers is obtaining your first piece of equipment, and the risk involved with investing your money... we try to make this the least painful as possible. Our largest bit of saving is the starter reseller computer that we sell. Nicknamed the "Powerhouse," this dedictaed server can deliver serious power with a quad-core i5 processor and 16Gb of RAM. Most hosts sell RAM at $15 per 1Gb... so if you account for the extra memory to drive the system, databases, and other programs you can make an initial income of $230 per month. To you, this dedicated server only costs $89.95 per month. Licensing for you control panel is also very expensive though, we recommend Multicraft because of its ease of use, auto setup of servers, and because we will take care of licensing for you. By buying in bulk we save you money and each server instance will only cost you about $0.88 per month. Your first 5 licenses are on the house.
More "Powerhouse" Info:
-i5 Quad Core
-16Gb DDR3 RAM
-100mb/s UNMETERED
-2TB High Speed HDD
-Free McMyAdmin/Multicraft/SpaceBukkit setup/maintenance
-5 Multicraft Licenses/1 McMyAdmin License
-Free domain (If ordering for more than 1 month at a time)
-Free support/server maintenance (We are happy to fix your server for you if something goes wrong)
-Hosted in Italy, OVH Datacenter (Not Kimsufi, we co-locate)
-Minor support to your customers included (Small control panel issues or Mod installations)
-$89.95 per month (plus $0.88 per Multicraft License per month past the initial 5.
Why are we able to do this so cheaply:
We co-locate our own hardware in the OVH datacenter with a cheap, yet proven server solution. We have invested in reliable consumer parts (With replacements on hand) and by buying our softwear in bulk. We are also not greedy and plan to make this company profitable by offering cheap prices and astounding support.
To buy purchase the "Powerhouse" head to www.velocityhosting.org and purchase the server. Then submit a ticket to be a reseller, we will then admit you to the reseller program
Saving on operating costs with a free billing panel:
There is no Multicraft module for it yet, but BoxBilling is a great free solution to have a billing control panel. In web hosting a billing panel is nearly a must because it keeps track of all of your clinets and sends them invoices and tells you when to suspend or delete servers.
Another way to save costs:
I have been experimenting with the Bukkit team's new admin panel called "SpaceBukkit" and it looks very promising! It has a few glitches (So im told, I have not encountered any yet) but it appears to be very usable. It is completely free and I am offering my services to set it up free of charge and do regular maintenance on it. Here is a video I made real quick showing some advantages:
Domain name information:
If your purchase a domain name with your server then it can be linked to your dedicated server. Then you can host your website in the /var/www/html for no additional cost. (We do not make money on the domain name, it is priced at the current pricing with our registrar)
SpaceBukkit is not ready for GSPs yet. It has glitches and you can't host anything else properly on your Apache server after installed, because the webroot is redirected.
What's your domain registrar and average price per domain? Just mentioning, Namecheap...
Also, i5 can't manage a full 16GB well, at least with Minecraft. i7 can do it, but it's not so ideal, and a Xenon E3-1230 would be recommended. For similar prices to yours, you could get a Hetzner.de or OVH node directly for better specs.
Can you provide some more information on these servers, What I require to see is:
A test IP address
A speed test file, Preferably supply me with a 100MB and 1GB file.
Exact model numbers of each component used (If you collocate, you'll have all this information to hand.
Can you specify the RPM of this HDD, I'm guessing it's 5400 RPM? Sata 2 or 3?
Truly unmetered bandwidth at 100Mbps? Or is it capped to 10Mbps after say 10TB /mo
How much do you charge for additional IP addresses
Edit: I'd also like some more information on this "UK" data center you speak of on your website, where abouts is it located, who is the provider? Your thread above says Italy: http://screensnapr.com/v/lRklTD.jpg
1) 188.165.227.5
2) A 78mb file: http://188.165.227.5/stuff
(This is on a fully loaded server, all 16Gb active with Minecraft Servers... I do not wish to make a larger download on an active server. I am working on hooking up a new server right now with those test files... all out servers are being used right now :D)
3)Check back in a few minuets, Im still typing...
4)HDD - ST32000641AS - 7200RPM
5)For you it is unmetered. Regardless of what you use it will be unmetered... (Unless it is something crazy like 50000TB/month)
6)$49 for an additional 16 IP addresses or $99 for 32.
The datacenter is the OVH datacenter in Italy. While some will exclaim this is "Kimsufi" it is not. The OVH datacenter is an excellent datacenter and as you can see on their website it allows co-location. (I have been called a liar over this many times before)
Still waiting for the rest of those hardware specs..
Sorry, our tech guy is out today.... I personally do not know the specs. Ill post them once I have contact with him. I know the CPU is the i5 2600k and the RAM is DDR3. As you can see above I did find the specific HDD number.
It's not worth it, I did it and a month later he cancelled my server and by doing so it deleted all of my clients information. I now host with a 24GB RAM server for £40 when he was charging me £60 for a 16GB RAM server.
Do NOT trust this person!
Well this being said, can you point me in the right direction? Trying to find a scalable solution. Thanks!
Personally I would rather buy my servers from OVH, they are a very trusted website and have very good prices.
And the panels aren't that hard to set up, it's just the cost of everything.
