I have tried three google pages of hosting services, for both Minecraft and Starmade before the Smelter - they were all either laggy, or their 'support' replied after days, with useless information that I have already tried during that time.
Since using the Smelter I haven't experienced any lags, the gameplay is fluid so far and their control panel has everything I need. I'm using their service to host servers of both the Minecraft and Starmade now. Hopefully they will add support for many more multiplayer games, while retaining the quality of service.
The most surprising is their support team - if I have a problem, a question, it doesn't matter if I mail them at night, saturday, sunday or the Queens birthday - they reply like SECONDS after. It's almost magical.
Therefore, three thumbs up for the Smelter team - a strong 10/10. And as I said - hopefully more games will be added soon, so I can stop using the other services that either lag 24/7, crash like crazy or their support teams reply months after the issue has already either been fixed, or the server was already moved somewhere else.
Thank you for the kind worlds Darkfault. We are happy that you're enjoying our services, and we will be around as always, should you need any assistance!
More services are coming astonishingly soon by the way.

Love these guys. Used a bunch of hosts that all were 'cheaper' or claimed to have 24/7 support and you honestly paid for what you got with them, a cheap service. While not brekaing the bank, the smelter is honestly the best amount of bang for my buck. I run a private server with my clan and we play around on it. FTB infinity is what we run and haven't had the server ever crash on us.
We spawned in a world tree (that was roughly a thousand blocks in diameter and making our computers chug despite how good of a setup we had. Now, let me make this clear OUR COMPUTERS were lagging. The server was a beast of a machine. A member lit the tree on fire and we had a good fourty or fifty chunks worth of fire in the world, burning away at a tree that lagged our personal machines, but the server never skipped a heart beat.
So, with a burning tree and no way left to make the process a quick one, we did the only thing reasonable, started to fight the fire in the tree with nuclear weapons. Launching a crusade against a burning giant, using nuclear devices every fifteen seconds or so, we fought this tree down and one. With only the most minor of hiccups that one could assume for their own computer, the server chugged onwards and never once crashed on us.
So, to the smelter and awesome support for when i knew i couldn't make a bill date and to allow me to freeze it till my next paycheck, thank you. You guys are freaking awesome.
Bonus pick to show i'm not just making up this shtick:
Crackpack, the new FTB modpack, is available preinstalled for our servers with super easy setup and summer discounts! Play along with the Mindcrack members on their various YouTube and Twitch series with this customized 1.7.10 pack.
The smelter is the best host out there for Minecraft and Feed The Beast mod packs. They have the most intuitive system for setting up the server.
If you want to customize your server then it takes a bit of practice because you have to modify it and never delete the don't update file or re-moddify it if you do update it. But you can reset to the default or switch to another mod pack extremely easily so fiddling with it is simple.
They have their own backup option so you can backup the world as one zip instead of every little file and with ftp you can still backup the entire thing as a whole as well. This has been invaluable to me. It's the only service I've seen where I can simply paste the files in and everything works. With other services I've tried there's always something that goes wrong because of how they set it up to run. It's nice to not need tech every time you want to load an old backup.
Their tech support is good as well. When one of the packs had a bad update they were the only ones to let me know it was a known bug with the mod pack. At the time I was still trying other servers but they didn't have a clue what was going on and didn't know how to handle my problem.
I have and will always use or go back to the smelter for all hosting needs. I do hope they get big enough to support more games though. Minecraft and starmade are great but I would love to see Ark or 7 Days To Die hosted. Though more indie games would be nice as well.
If you want a solid, consistent, and simple host then The Smelter is the best way to go.

Thanks for the great review mcpop9. We're really happy you're enjoying your server!
Wow you really don't give much for premium an extra .2 Ghz.
Kinda funny to me lol
Even though you advertise you a premium host.
And you comparing between standard and premium doesn't show much, to me it's not impressive and if i was a customer i was take my business elsewhere. I doubt you give 1Gbps, you give it to as many boxes you have on that and it splits it. Cause you give 100Mbps to the standard and you jump 900Mb.
All i need to say is you don't have much diversity in what you are offering.
Its best not to keep secrets away from people and not speaking my mind would be keeping a secert from you and my parents didn't teach me that way. Even though they aren't really around much anymore.

Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion but that doesn't mean that every opinion makes sense to everyone.
A better CPU option for a measly $3/GB more is diverse enough in our books. You can always choose the Standard Tier if you believe the Premium is not worth it.
When I first ordered my server through them, the site was under-construction and had some problems which gotten straightened out there.. so kudos to the customer service rep I talked to during that time. However there was some performance issues and problems I had since with them after that, when I first signed up I didn't see all of the information listed and their terms of service wasn't there when I first signed up
Anyways, I filed a ticket and after going back and forth a bit... they agreed on a refund for me that would be put into my account to use.. I could buy other services with them if I chose to, but I had wanted a paypal refund instead... I got no response on that and found out that my refund had been taken away and my server was since suspended...
I don't like how my server was suspended when I had two more weeks or more left, and now I'm out a server and I'm out my money.. so I don't recommend this company at this time though they might change in the future..

While I would also feel the same way as you in this situation, there are some aspects of this story that you selectively avoid to mention.
You purchased a plan that was too small for the modpack you were running and for the number of players on your server.
You asked for a refund 14 days into your monthly plan when our money-back policy is 3 days.
When investigating the issues you reported, we discovered that they were modpack related. We suggested several ways and offered our help with fixing them. You ignored us. We offered you the option to change the modpack or upgrade your plan. You refused.
After a ridiculous amount of tickets asking for a refund, we agreed in good faith to credit the full amount you paid for your plan (instead of the half that you asked for). Of course we suspended your server after this as you could use your credit to purchase a new one. Despite agreeing at first you then insisted on a Paypal refund.
You proceeded to open a dispute with Paypal that you immediately escalated to a claim. At this point Paypal withheld your payment from us and of course we removed the credit from your account as that would mean refunding you twice.
When Paypal decided in our favour, you posted this "review", just like you had threatened us you would.
All of the above actions on our part were according to our Terms Of Service that you had agreed to during your purchase. Even if you claim that they were not available (which they were) the simple fact is that it's not possible to place an order unless you agree with the ToS. Clicking on "I agree" means that you accept them even if you never bothered to read them.
We always try to go the extra mile to help our clients and taking a look at the reviews on this thread you can see several cases where we did exactly that. However there are some times when demands are simply so unrealistic that we can't cover them even after doing everything in our power to make a client happy. I'm sorry that this was the case with you.

1. Well that is not entirely the case, I purchased a 3gb server from you guys.
2. I didn't ask for a refund, I asked for a partial refund seeing as to all the issues I was experiencing with the server at the time and I was not entirely satisfied with that which I did open a ticket for.
3. I did not ignore you, I attempted steps and troubleshooted on my side of the things which I replied to you in the ticket, I do not have contact with all of the people on the server all of the time.
4. I did not want to purchase another server from you after what I had experienced, I asked for a paypal refund and noone replied to me... the ticket was closed after that which seemed like you didn't want to issue a refund to paypal which is fine.
5. I did the paypal thing after I got no response on your side, I did not escalate it into a claim at all till a few days have passed.
I just felt like pointing out a few things from my side, but most of my time with thesmelter was a good experience barring a few customer service hiccups, I did state that the website was broken/being updated/under construction and I did not see and "Terms of Service" ToS on your side when signing up.. perhaps I shouldn't have ordered a service when the site was broken but that was my fault.. No one is attacking anyone. Since this is our forum thread we feel that our side of the story needs to be made public as well. We would also like to point out that you have now filed a bank chargeback with the obviously false claim that the purchase was not made by you and without your approval.
This is by far the best customer service I've ever experienced. Loving their support even though i rarely use it and loving their system which is very easy to use. Ive had some issues with my modpack since it was glitchy and they found a way to make it work even though it was hopeless at that point. Lucky for me they spotted the problem. I am a frequent on their live chat because i am insecure for some of my choices and yet they are very polite despite of me being stressed over a mod or two and how they will affect my server.
Now I am running ftb crackpack and oh boy the way it is running is making me regret all the other companies i've been with. may sound a bit exaggerated but it is not far from the truth. They helped me and supported me so the least i could do is to refer them to my friends who got server with different modpacks and all was grand of course.
so my review if someone wanted number is 1000000/10 and i agree with the guy 2 post above me (aetrcsom, not the other one of course) for more games because that would be like the most epic thing for me since i like to stream and have many games on my schedule. one last thing. shout out to stela and phil for keeping up with my server. these guys are the swats of minecraft.
Thank you very much for the review pink_creeper. We are glad you are happy with your server and we are always here to help with any issues.
