Aye, fancy yerself a Dwarf? The Kal-Buldur (Pronounced Call - Bullder) Dwarves are a light roleplay clan that focuses on builds in an underground/mountainous setting. In case you are unsure what light roleplay means, I will explain how we use it here. The extent of RP for us may be, for example, a simple nickname and some In-Character dialogue in local chat reminiscent to that of Dwarves. We strongly encourage members to change their skins to a Dwarf, but it is not at all required nor does it affect your experience in the clan.
Feel free to look over the thread and get acquainted with how we function. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to post here, send me a private message, or join our discord!
[This section will detail and provide updates on any current city/project that we are working on.]
As of this moment, we have resettled inside the capital of Kal-Buldur. Pictures of the town outside, Windvale, and the underground can be seen in the following post. Expansion plans are underway, houses are open, and a small community of Dwarves are awaiting visitors!

Click HERE for information/news regarding the server.
If you visit the link above, you will be brought to the blog that the server owner updates from time to time. The 'About TAW' section gives a pretty good idea about what the server was/is/will be like. Originally it was just the owners singleplayer world, and has evolved from there. Every build, ruin, and book ever written on the server still exists somewhere (unless a war resulted in the removal of it), and that's what the players base their RP on.
The server, in it's current state, isn't the most active anymore. The community that is still around are typically the older players who come on to talk about past events and reminisce over the times they shared with others. By joining this clan, you acknowledge that sometimes, we're just going to be one of the only few on the server. It could get boring for you, so I wouldn't join up if you're not interested in a bit of vanilla minecraft.
It's not all bad though - plans are in the works for a new age on the server. It's main focus is going to be the retention of newer players. Until that age comes to fruition, however, I will do my best to give us things to do and will show you the unforgiving world and history that surrounds The Ancient World.
Dwarven Leaders:
While on the server or discord, feel free to address any of these following members if you have an issue or would like to join:
King of the Depths Grumfisst
King's Steward Shammysham6
Dwarven Officials:
A list of members currently in managing positions:
Resource Manager Kat_Sparks
Royal Dragon Commander thefallenone12
Barkeep Spaceknight127
Barkeep WishingOnAWendy
Dwarven Commoners:
A list of our members, alphabetical order based on role:
Dwarf Farmer UnluckyBlueSnake
Dwarf Miner Jexyback
Dwarf Miner Holothief
Dwarf Miner legobuster234
In order to make it so that roles actually do something, I have redeveloped a new system for organizing the Dwarves. The roles themselves do not limit how you experience the clan. They are primarily for: 1) Recognizing individual members' skills, 2) Keeping an organized structure, and 3) Allowing players to learn from and enjoy the experiences brought about by jolly cooperation. If you want to do something outside of your role, such as mine while you are a smith, you are perfectly fine doing so.
The Leader roles are to be permanent positions. They will only change if a leader becomes inactive or is incapable of doing their job. Limited titles found in the Labor and Military role sections, however, do not follow in the same footsteps. At the end of the month, each of the limited roles (Master Architect, Resource Manager, Equipment Overseer, and Royal Dragon Guard Commander) will have submitted possible candidates to replace them for the following month. The King and Steward will then select from the list of candidates for each of the limited roles. If the selected candidate does not wish to have the role, they may allow the King and Steward to select another. Candidates are only selected when the minimum amount of players to choose from has been reached.
Leader Roles:
King of the Depths (Limit One):
Description: The ruler of the Kal-Buldur Dwarves. The current King goes by the name Grumfisst, or Steel Fist, to reflect upon his unwavering personality in the face of adversity (Just RP. I'm just a chill dude, promise). It is not uncommon to see the King engaging frequently in manual labor because, after all, he is a Dwarf.
Responsibilities: The first responsibility of the King, no matter where he is, is to ensure that he is representing the Kal-Buldur Dwarves. When first entering a new land, the King decides on where the Dwarves will establish the Capital city. After this crucial step, the King serves as the diplomat of the clan. Enemies and Allies are decided, and the king signs treaties. The responsibilities of the King do not exceed these under normal circumstances. When one of the following roles are not filled: Master Architect, Tunnel Dwarf, Royal Dragon Commander, Resource Manager, or Equipment Overseer, The King will do his best to fulfill the duties of that role.
Requirements: In short, this title cannot be achieved unless the current King stands down. If a large percentage of the Kal-Buldur Dwarves agree that the current King should step down, then the King is honor bound to relinquish his title and pass it on.
King's Steward (Limit One):
Description: The Steward is the main adviser to the King, appointed directly by the King. They live in the same Castle/House/Fortress that the King does, in order to make discussion of important topics where prying ears cannot hear.
Responsibilities: Works with the King to determine the best possible solutions for problems, as well as serves as a script during diplomatic meetings.
Requirements: Because the Steward is chosen by the King, there are absolutely no requirements in order to become the Steward. If there comes a time where the Steward must be replaced, he/she is chosen based on how much they have contributed to the Clan.
Jarl (Unlimited - Restrictions Apply):
Description: A Jarl is the Chieftain of a settlement other than the Capital. If we are participating on a Towny server, then a Jarl will be running their own Town as a member of the nation.
Responsibilities: A Jarl must maintain their town. On Towny servers, for example, they will have to ensure that they can afford the daily upkeep. As far as resources and equipment go, the new town is independent from the capital save for in times of war
Requirements: In order for a Jarl to be appointed, there must be at least three people living in or working on the town. Once this requirement is met, the Jarl is decided by the members of the new town. This population requirement is simply to prevent the excessive maintenance costs that arise when everyone wants to lead their own town. It also serves to bring the clan closer together, as you must make a few friends in the clan who are willing to build/live with you before you venture off on a new project.
Labor Roles:
Master Architect (Limit One):
Description: A Dwarf that is placed as the Master Architect is one known throughout the clan for his ability to construct magnificent Dwarven structures.
Responsibilities: Decides the current construction project for the clan. Informs the Resource Manager if building supplies are low. Helps the Stonemasons learn how to improve their building skills (And vice versa, where applicable). Picks (2) Stonemasons as candidates for their replacement at the end of each month.
Requirements: Must be a Stonemason selected as a candidate by the current Master Architect, and approved by the King.
Stonemason (Unlimited):
Description: The backbone of every Dwarven Empire: The builders. Stonemasons are used to the underground art style of the Dwarves. They build grand pillars, entryways and traps along the Dwarven halls. Without them, there is nothing worth fighting for.
Responsibilities: Assist the Master Architect with any current construction projects. If there is no current construction project, assist members with their homes or add in decoration where possible.
Requirements: No requirements. The more advanced your building skills, the more you will be relied upon.
Barkeeper (Limit Three):
Description:A Dwarf approaches the wooden counter and, as if instinctual, you present him with a glass of ale the size of his head. You inquire about where he's been that day, what activities he's done. Just the usual, mining tunnels and planting crops, it seems. You decide to tell a story you heard the other day - or did you make it up? Either way, you get a wholehearted laugh out of the Dwarf, and he turns in for the night. You hear the door open, and the familiar sound of a Dwarf sitting down at the bar.
Responsibilities: Encouraging roleplay throughout the clan, bringing people closer together, and serving up a round of ale after a victory.
Requirements: Willingness to roleplay, a lot of energy and overall love for the Dwarves!
Resource Manager (Limit Two):
Description: A Resource Manager is an essential part of any Clan. Dwarves that have great memory and organizational skills are encouraged to become one, as they are vital to how quickly things can progress.
Responsibilities: Maintains a stock on all current resources at Kal-Buldur's disposal. Works with the Equipment Overseer and Master Architect to ensure that resources are properly distributed. Keeps the storage area well organized. Pick (4) candidates from the current Farmers and/or Miners at the end of each month to become the new Resource Manager.
Requirements: OCD-level organizational skills. Selected from the list of candidates by the King and Steward.
Farmer Dwarf (Unlimited):
Description: A Farmer Dwarf provides for the clan two very important things. They provide the food necessary to keep us alive and the resources necessary to brew alcohol for celebrations and buffs!
Responsibilities: Providing and maintaining a steady food supply for the Dwarves. Stockpiling excess foodstuffs such as wheat and sugarcane to be made into Ale and Rum when the Brewery Plugin is on the server. Finally, while awaiting crops to grow, it is highly suggested that Farmer Dwarves go logging, as wood supplies are not easily gathered in a typical Dwarven Settlement.
Requirements: Basic knowledge of farming in Minecraft is all that is necessary.
Miner Dwarf (Unlimited):
Description: The majority of Dwarves fall into this role. It is the most common occupation of a Dwarf. It's no surprise, as with mining comes wealth, and with wealth comes power. We Dwarves are greedy, 'tis true, but we aren't afraid of losing it all to start anew.
Responsibilities: Providing the clan with minerals to allow us to progress. There's typically two categories of Miner Dwarves. Those who mine in a branch mine, and those who quarry to provide excessive amounts of stone. Both are vital to any Dwarven Kingdom.
Requirements: Know what a branch mine is and be able to maintain the organization of one.
Equipment Overseer (Limit One):
Description: An Equipment Overseer keeps logs of where the sets of armor that smiths make are at. If any Dwarf wants to pick up a set of gear that they themselves have not made, they must ask the Equipment Overseer to retrieve them a set from the storage.
Responsibilities: Hands out armor sets during trying times (War, PvE assault, etc.). Keeps tabs on all community sets (Preferable if each set is named something unique, so that they can be easily tracked). Selects (2) candidates and from the current number of Dwarven Smiths to present to the King and Steward.
Requirements: Selected from the candidates presented to the King and Steward.
Dwarven Smith (Unlimited):
Description: The skilled craftsmen of the Dwarven Kingdom. They help to provide weapons and armor to Dwarves who are out gathering raw materials.
Responsibilities: Craft and enchant Weapons, Tools, and Armor for themselves and the clan. Ensure that there are numerous backup sets ready for use.
Requirements: Basic knowledge on the Minecraft enchanting system.
Military Roles:
Royal Dragon Commander (Limit One):
Description: The Royal Dragon Commander is the leader of Kal-Buldur's military forces.
Responsibilities: Discuss diplomatic matters with the King. This could be intelligence about possible enemies, strength of the Dwarves compared to the realm, or strategic locations that we should seek to settle new fortifications. A newly assigned Commander will pick (2) Royal Dragon Guards to serve the King. At the end of the month, the Commander will pick (3) candidates from Axemen and Rangers to submit to the King and Steward for replacement.
Requirements: Decent knowledge of tactics and an ability to lead. Chosen from a list of candidates by the King and Steward.
Royal Dragon Guard (Limit 2):
Description: The most heavily trained Dwarves become a part of the Royal Dragon Guard. The Guard are skilled fighters, given the most advanced armor and weapons that we have available.
Responsibilities: During any major engagement, PvP or PvE, the Royal Dragon Guard's duty is to ensure the King's survival. They will, without hesitation, put their lives on the line in order to protect the King. Because of this duty, they are not led by the current Commander and are, instead, led directly by the King.
Requirements: In order to become a member of the Royal Dragon Guard, you must be hand picked by the current Royal Dragon Commander. Once chosen, you must be confirmed by the current King personally.
Dwarf Ranger (Unlimited):
Description: Skilled with the bow, the Dwarven Rangers follow Axeman into battle, providing close range support. During sieges, they sit atop the walls and let loose arrows on the invaders below.
Responsibilities: Basically, this is just an RP role. You are not forced to use a bow during battles. Your only responsibility is to fight intelligently and be ready to adapt.
Requirements: None.
Dwarf Axeman (Unlimited):
Description: Axemen are the frontline of the Dwarven military. They fight in defense of their homes, their wealth, and their people.
Responsibilities: As with Rangers, this is just an RP role. Axes are not mandatory, you can use whatever weapon you prefer. Fight smart, fight bravely.
Requirements: None.

I'd like to officially welcome you to our little slice of the minecraft pie. As for your answer to #2, I think it would be a good idea if I also listed out the roles that one would be able to fill (Would also enrich RP a bit, in my opinion). I'll see you around on the Discord and server!
It's great to see a new dwarven clan on the server.
Aye, it's been a while for sure. The Dwarven city of Ironhammer is still a very popular conversation topic among the players on TAW, and we're hoping that Kal-Buldur will be just as popular in the time to come.
I have updated the topic post to include common and leadership roles that are currently available. If you don't see a role there that you would like to fill, feel free to suggest one. I've also added a shield to the post that is the basis of our shield design on the server (Orange with white +, though this is only for the mainland - we'll have new designs for Orrostar to reflect our transition of RP). I'm always looking for suggestions for the clan and the thread, so feel free to leave a post with some constructive criticism if you feel you have something to add!
The server:
These are the current land claims on The Ancient World. Our claims are in light blue. Windvale and Kal-Buldur are located in the claim on mainland (The very large landmass that is barely connected in some places), and our newest project is located in the mountains on the continent of Orrostar (Top-right).
We're making great progress on our current project, and are very close (I'd say about a week or two away) from our RP change. So far, we have finalized that we will be roleplaying as an exiled group from the mainland Kal-Buldur sect. We will be engaging in conflict with all others on Orrostar at a constant rate, but have devised methods that will not drive those players away. If a raid succeeds against an opponent, we will probably keep about 5-10% of what we stole. The rest of the loot we will return in the form of a broken-down caravan, its location provided to our enemy the following day. This will be done through a lone Dwarven scout losing his life to our enemy with a book depicting the carts location. So far, this is what we know for sure. We hope that both sides during conflict will respect each other's builds and terrain, only breaking non-essential blocks such as doors and minor holes in walls. We also hope that there is a minimum of 2-3 people online in a faction before any raids are carried out.
You may ask what the point is of only keeping such a low amount of loot from a successful raid, especially when most raids won't even be successful. In my opinion, I feel like there would be more to get out of battles if it wasn't complete destruction of your opponent. I want to give us a reputation as violent and evil, but I don't want us to be absolutely dominating. I welcome all other factions to engage with us in battle, but I do hope that they focus their attacks on outer forts rather than the main one, saving it for a final battle down the line. My main focus is roleplay and inspiring people to cooperate, not obliterating factions.
I will be discussing this matter with the other faction leaders soon, and hope to have more to say on this next friday. Until then, prepare yourselves for some epic battles!

Welcome to Kal-Buldur, fellow Dwarf! You mentioned PvPer, do you mean you would like to be an axeman or a member of the Dragon Guard? Also, we've recently built a tavern at our faction home, feel free to personalize it and brew up some ale in the back to celebrate your membership!
Updated the member list to include our recent members. Members who wish to RP have their RP names in parenthesis after their IGN. Overall, I think that I've gotten most of the information I need to convey on the post, now all that is left to do is work on the overall quality of the post (Such as fancier text for some areas, maybe some pictures as backdrops for some of the text/headers). We'll be putting up some pictures of our build on Orrostar here soon, though progress has been slow due to our master architect running into some issues IRL. The post also now contains the current map render, which will be updated once the age of exploration is in full swing. Again, any suggestions/ideas for the thread are valuable, and I would appreciate any constructive criticism.
The server:
Many things have happened since the update last week. The server has begun a new age, dubbed 'The Age of Exploration'. Feel free to take a look at the server's blog, as well as a YouTube video that should be uploaded this weekend, for a good idea on what this new age entails. With this new age, we have claimed a relatively small to medium sized Savannah continent for future builds. We've given the continent the name "Teren Mith" and are very eager to see dwarven fortresses dug out on its mountains. If you would like to be part of a new project being built from the very start, or even want to design it yourself, feel free to mention so on your application!
Spawn has also been moved from The Ancient City to the island of Port Orange. From here, there is access to many different continents that you are free to explore and loot, provided that you do not build on those that are claimed by rival factions. Overall the age is designed to be very friendly to newer players, so it is a good time to join up before things start getting more difficult.
As a final note, I'm throwing out our past plans/ideas for PvP. These ideas might come back into effect on a later date when factions are closer together. The current age has spread factions far apart, so I do not see organized raids being a thing for a while. We will, however, continue our current RP plans until they are finished. We're still working on a name for these exiled Dwarves as well as our major fortress, but banner designs are now officially complete.
That's all for today's update, thanks for reading!

Aye, you seem eager to jump right in! There'll be plenty of mead and future enemies to slay, but alas, we are at peace, so there will not be much of the latter. So priority objectives as of this moment: Build and prepare for future undead hordes, set some goals, and enjoy yourself! If our plan for PvP comes back around, we may have an opening for ya as the raid coordinator. Otherwise, we'll see you as the labor supervisor once we get to know ya better.

Luram, we're going to need a round of mead for the newest dwarf! You chose the best time and the best server to be a scout, as there are ruins and bases far and wide for you to explore! Hey cj, I recommend rereading the post again to find what you're missing in your application! I allow two attempts, so don't worry too much about the mistake, as long as it's fixed on your next application.
King of the Depths (Limit One):

Description: The backbone of every Dwarven Empire: The builders. Stonemasons are used to the underground art style of the Dwarves. They build grand pillars, entryways and traps along the Dwarven halls. Without them, there is nothing worth fighting for.
Responsibilities: Assist the Master Architect with any current construction projects. If there is no current construction project, assist members with their homes or add in decoration where possible.
Requirements: No requirements. The more advanced your building skills, the more you will be relied upon.
Barkeeper (Limit Three):
Description: A Dwarf approaches the wooden counter and, as if instinctual, you present him with a glass of ale the size of his head.

Aye, it's been a while for sure. The Dwarven city of Ironhammer is still a very popular conversation topic among the players on TAW, and we're hoping that Kal-Buldur will be just as popular in the time to come.

Update 10/21 - Friday Update #1
The thread:

Update 10/28 - Friday Update #2
The thread:

Welcome, mighty Dwarven Axeman! You'll be aiding in many epic battles in the future, many of which against impossible odds. I trust that you are a brave soldier we need you to be, willing to hold the walls against endless hordes of undead as they lay siege to our home. In the mean time, we're here to have plenty of laughs and enjoy the everyday building and camaraderie of minecraft!

I'll be on the discord and server for several hours, so be absolutely sure to hit me up on either one and I'll get you acquainted.

Hey cj, I recommend rereading the post again to find what you're missing in your application! I allow two attempts, so don't worry too much about the mistake, as long as it's fixed on your next application.
