I am a server owner and admin, and am looking to put together a tight-knit team of people to govern and build up a world. Before I get into the details and present an application template, let me give a bit of background on the server...
It initially started small. I put together a server machine where I work, initially to provide a platform to allow clients to preview their websites, and also to house some various in-house, web-based company tools. In a "what the hell" mood, I setup a small Minecraft server. In the beginning, it was just my younger cousin and I playing. It ran quite smoothly, so he invited several of his friends. What was 2, became 10. So I got to thinking- I should really stress test this thing...
A friend of mine runs a stream on twitch.tv, and informed me the crowd there just eats Minecraft up. So I bumped the max players to 25, and we posted the IP on his stream... needless to say, we hit max pretty quick. And the server ran smooth as butter for everyone. This was an SMP server, pretty much vanilla. Over the course of about a month, I got to know the ins and outs of plugins, admin tasks, and other aspects of running the server. We've stress tested up to 50 players, and it runs quite well, albeit not as smoothly as what I have set now- 30 players.
Now to the current situation. I had warned my community about the impending 1.3 release, and when they first joined the server the month or weeks before, also informed them that the server was in beta, and that eventually we were going to start a fresh world. Well, that time came and nobody seemed to listen to the dozens of reminders about what was going to be happening. Most of the player base left, but several of the good, dedicated players pop in now and again to see what's going on.
Right now the world is clean and fresh. I'm running WorldBorder, with a radius of 4096 around 0,0. Thus, we have an effective border-to-border size of 8192. Not the largest by any means, but quite big for a player max of 30. I have several other plugins and tools running, but we'll talk about that later. Know that, while not an expert, I am quite up on plugins and plugin development.
I have plans to upgrade the server machine to quite the beastly little thing, and share my creation with the Minecraft community. I think everyone will dig it. For now, it's running a quad core cpu, 8GB of RAM. We got pretty fat pipes here as well. The machine is a humble and strong one, but not what I want to run long term for Erebus.
Okay, if you've made it this far, you've done well and earned some points with me for being intelligent, mature, and patient enough to give 2 hoots. What I am looking for, is another person to help me manage things. I don't need another admin, but a right-hand man to keep an eye on things and help moderate the community we build up. Having a broad experience with Minecraft is great, but a focused experience in dealing with a community is what I'm really looking for. A sense of humor. Google-fu. Common sense.
I'm also looking for a couple of good builders. Great builders would be, well... great. My goal is to (obviously) build an excellent spawn area. What I've been calling a "spawn town" as of late. And then several other "server towns". As well as forts. And the more expansive Capitol of Erebus. All these towns, forts, and the capitol are named. They have themes, and functionality.
So I'd like to take the next week or so, to get to know a few applicants, and hopefully build a team of 3 or 4 cool and gung-ho people to welcome into the Erebus family. I mentioned before the world is virgin; I may expand the world out to a border-to-border radius of 16384. I may also regenerate with a new seed. So come into this knowing that we will be experimenting for a few days, before I lock down and say "let's do this".
Okay, the application bit. Not asking for blood type or a photocopy of your most recent retinal scan, but I do have some things I need to know. Failure to follow this template, will pretty much result in me ignoring your application. I'm asking applicants to use Pastebin, to avoid spam and such. PM me the Pastebin link. Following is the application:

Short and sweet eh? Well, this is just more of a pre-app, to initiate contact and get the ball rolling. There will be a second and third stage to all this. Second stage will include more secure info... not personal, but rather I want to guarantee the information in the second stage is legitimate, and posting that in the app here would allow people to skirt around that. I don't feel like wasting time on that stuff. The third stage will continue in-game, and most likely if you make it there, you're in. For the assitant/moderator position, it will come down to how you get along with the community of Erebus. For the builders this applies as well, but with the added pre-requisite of showing off what you can do.
In closing, know that the server is a great pride of mine, not for the glory, but the joy. I like the community, and to be honest it's quite fun. There is certainly work involved, but it's not hard. Just time consuming. I'm working on a website- we already have temporary forums and a wiki.
Age: 25 Email: [email protected] Skills: Pretty good builder, in my own head anyway. Good people skills, always helpful. More then willing to help out newcomers, and a professional with most coding languages. Most importantly dedicated and loyal to my friends.
A paragraph about yourself: These are always fun, more so because who the hell really wants to talk about themselves? I guess I'll go ahead with the obvious here and say I am addicted to Minecraft as a whole, and well just video games in general. Nothing quite like this medium to find relaxation and a way to express ones creative mind. Other then that though, I can't really think of much else about myself that one wouldn't learn from just talking to me.
Could you tell me if the server is hosted in the EU or US?
The US, but we have people from all over. So far everyone says they are lag free (minus the occasional spike for various reasons, usually client-side).
Just a quick update- I've found our admin/moderator, and a builder. Looking for another great architect! Solid experience with redstone would be a huge plus...

I know that 13 is a young age. But I'm not someone who would call you a fag if you kill me. I was an admin of the #1 server on MCSL when the server was still up awhile back. I've had alot of experience on alot of different situations. And if your not accepting mods or admins, I can build pretty well. I don't have much to say. I can decorate pretty well. And that's all. Oh, and I'm quite funny if I do say so myself. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Hey DezoLord, I replied. Thanks for the heads up... seems the messaging center on here is finicky. I've actually been noticing several little "bugs" with the Minecraft forums. The browsers built in spell check, for example (in Firefox at least) gets blocked.
Anyhow, I have 1 good architect/builder now. A possible assitant admin/moderator. I could use another great builder, who has a good amount of experience with redstone. So jakeman4489 and HatingEmperor- I appreciate your interest, but I'm affraid I need some 18+ staff at this point. Nothing against the "yungins", or that I doubt your abilities. Just how it is. I'll update my OP to reflect this new requirement.

Also of note- I asked applicants to post their applications on Pastebin. This was a test to see if they could follow simple instructions, and utilize a basic web-based tool effectively. So far, only 2 people have succeeded to do this!

@connor119 - thanks buddy, but I stated 2 posts above yours, 2 things that you failed to understand. Which pretty much rules you out: I wanted the info posted to Pastebin. PM the Pastebin link. I am not looking for anyone under 18.
This tactic of making a simple task to follow, is really ruling out the peeps who can't follow directions. Moral of the story? I don't need people who can't follow simple instructions, or apply themselves to standard.
Still looking for a moderator, another builder, and a terraformer!
The head architect we have answers to me, but we are both busy with many other tasks. So an assistant to help push things along and clean things up would be awesome. The requirements for the terraformer are the ability to not only clear out terrain, but make it look natural... as well as fit with existing and in-progress structures.
The moderator position has been tough to fill. I've interviewed a few people who seemed quite mature and capable in the first couple stages, but once it got to the final in-game stages, turned out to be goof-balls who weren't respective of what a moderator is and isn't. So please, only apply for this position if you are truly experienced. I don't need immature moderators who simply want OP status. I have permissions set up for a good clean moderator group, that enables what an efficient moderator should be able to do- teleport, kick, check the server status, etc. Moderators don't need OP status, and as many other experienced server owners/admins have explained... people who merely want OP status are just confused.
And remember- I'm looking for mature and adult members now. I have plenty of 9-17 year olds on the server.
I'm not sure if this server is still online, but when it was online, I loved the server. So hears me apply;

I've been playing Minecraft since beta 1.02 (the first beta update) and know quite some things about Minecraft now.
I can be really helpfull if people ask, and I'm also somewhat of a troller. This may or may not be irrelevant,
but I can go from trolly, to actually really serious, which may sometimes be quite annoying.
Yes, the server is still online! And you're on the whitelist, so you can still jump on. We had a hiccup some time back, and everyone seemed to just drop off the server. Some of the regulars still hop on every now and then, but no one else is on when they do... so they leave. 5 minutes later, someone else gets on... it's a shame really.
I've passed on responsibilities to my good friend, who gets on now and again to make sure no one has been griefing, or to just chill. I check for updates to the server and various plugins daily, and make sure things are running smoothly. Erebus will be around to stay- it just isn't as active as it was some time ago. I'd love to see it get back to those fun times, but it comes down to people being active on the server.
The reason I haven't been able to be so active, and plan the events and such... I run a business, and things have gotten a bit busy as of late. On top of that, I started my own game development project... most of my free time is slotted for that. I'm trying to work in a day or so a week for Erebus, but every time I hop on, no one else is around!
By the way, those are some awesome builds. Get back in there and spice up the world a bit! You'll notice the new central town of Gortho is just a tower with paths leading out. There is a bit of terraforming that needs to be done (random floating 3 block noise bits for example).
