Important Notices - 8/8/2013
Starting to build up an alpha release of the pack. No Thaumcraft yet, but I want to get some general bug testing/config work done a lil early. Might throw up the server with what we have currently, but the world would be reset shortly, as it is mostly for testing as is, as well as me getting used to the 1.6.2 format for stuff so I can make snappy releases once we get stuff going. Most likely, we will NOT be updating to 1.7 without another world reset (don't blame me on this one, Mojang themselves are doing a re-write of world gen... We may just stay on what we have, we may not. I don't know), but I won't say for sure until this actually becomes an issue. Could be we have explored so far out that the natural cliffs of chunk edges won't be an issue.
Also considering what I want to do with spawn on the server, if I want to...
A. Leave it "au natural". No editing to surrounding terrain before the server starts up...
B. Build a small shelter/campsite like design, where you can get a safe-ish first night before moving on...
C. Sow the seeds of a small town. Nothing special, would be up to the players to expand upon it.
D. Be flamboyant. Go full out creative on dat spawn, and make pretty nice looking area to start the whole thing off in. Probably couldn't pull it off solo in a reasonable time frame.
If you vote for the final option, and want to help out, show me a few pics of things you have built in survival/creative, and I might consider adding you to help out with the server before the "official release." We will have a pretty constrained timeframe to work on it (I won't allow more than 2-3 days) so we would have to go quite fast. If I have to, I'll install a plug-in to hard set the spawn point of the server as well as a few other plug ins, but this is a bit farther on.
Mods are still in flux. Feel free to fire off suggestions, although do realize I probably will deny most of them. I only aim for pretty high quality mods, and sadly the community has a lot more high quality tech mods than magic ones. Doesn't help Azanor and Mithion set the bar so high as well though, lol.
I agree with clue1001 actually, a small town could be nice, like on the Hermitcraft II server and Mindcrack.
I actually liked what you did last time, a small shelter spawn, and also a small settlement nearby(where nearly all of the players on the server lived together). I felt that was quite good. Please tell me you read this and considered it There's no choice for two of them xD

I'll say this much. 1.6.2 makes mods a royal PITA. I recommend people grab Magic Launcher. For the time being, I will have to use it to get stuff set up for us, because of some process changes in how everything is loaded and makes modding much harder.

Once I finish everything up, I'll make some instructions on how to install mods for it on our front page, but you can also check it out yourself if you want to for the time being to get yourself familiarized with it to make it easier for ya in the long run.

Isn't it easy? Just use Forge installer and put mods in the mod folder
Well guys, I just found an unbelievable gem of a mod today. While not heavily done yet, I REALLY want to use this for the server after a while. While this might require another mini-restart, I think it would heavily be worth it based on how it looks.

Interested in joining this server as it has mods that I like and I'm having trouble finding a good server. Also have you considered adding ENCHANTING PLUS to your server? I view it as balanced and it already updated to 1.6, the maker does allow it in modpacks under certain conditions that are on the page and I think this would be really nice.

No, it won't. He plans on dynamically placed biomes to support all biome mods. But he doesn't plan on an update for a while, and if we do want to add it, most likely it would require another restart. So the question is.... are we willing for an extra restart a while down the road to get our hands on this? Once it is ready, it would literally be a near instantly ready update for us to do, but with such a massive world gen change, it would require a full restart to go with it.

I'd say no on this. It does indeed sound tempting, but it would shift levels in the game. The enchanting system requires you to do it a lot more often than you'd do if this mod was actually implemented in the game. It would be a little overpowered, and mess up the fact that gold has higher enchanting powers.

Well, I have a lil bit of good news guys. the ATG mod I mentioned a lil while back updated to 1.6.2, and he is working on the mod compatibility with other biome mods (including BoP) now. Odds are he will be fully finished before Thaumcraft 3.1 comes out, so we will not need a second world reset to get this wonderful mod in the lineup. I do have some testing I'll have to do before I could start the server up (if Azanor somehow finishes TC3.1 at the exact same time) but otherwise it shouldn't be to hard to add it in.

Yea, but it was very messy getting it all set up, as it is just weird. Biggest issue will be distributing things, but I am getting it set up.
