Introduction:
The world of our prehistoric ancestors was a vastly different place from our own. When an incredibly small portion of the world's population could read or write and a minority of the population ever had the opportunity to see past their birth towns. People weren't sure where they came from or why they lived the way they did but they just did. Although humanity had inhabited the earth already for 100,000 years (at least) and life for the naked apes had become so much easier since the founding of agriculture and towns knowledge was still very much constricted unlike today. Around this time the earliest of governing systems and philosophies were conceived. The majority of human life was fixed around major rivers and coastal areas, states are formed and language is developed. Cities pop up from what were previously villages, territorial struggles commence and monuments are built. From this comes the rise and fall of nations.
The 12 Olympians
Thus the twelve great gods and goddesses, the Olympians, became supreme. They were called the Olympians because Olympus was their home. What Olympus was, however, is not easy to say. There is no doubt that at first it was held to be a mountain top, Greece's highest mountain, Mt. Olympus in Thessaly, in the northeast of Greece. But some ancient Greeks thought of Mt. Olympus as more than a real mountain. They imagined it as some mysterious region far above all the mountains of the earth. Wherever it was, the entrance to it was a great gate of clouds kept by the Seasons. Within were the gods' dwellings, where they lived and slept and feasted on ambrosia and nectar and listened to Apollo's lyre. It was an abode of perfect blessedness. No wind, Homer says, ever-shakes the troubled peace of Olympus; no rain ever falls there or snow; but the cloudless firmament stretches around it on all sides and the white glory of Sunshine is diffused upon its walls. As with any typical family, there were some disagreements. Often Zeus had to throw a thunderbolt to break up family arguments.
These "Twelve Olympians" made up the divine family, but they had a deadly enemy ready to play again.
Storms raged in the sky as the Heavens were torn asunder by Zeus' mighty lightning bolt. Monstrous tidal waves tore through the land, summoned by Poseidon. Armies of the undead and a sickly black flame, controlled by Hades slowly crept over the world. The God's were at war, not with each other, but with the Titan's, once again. The Titans seemed ready this time to destroy their children and rule the cosmos again. Gaia had unleashed them from the pits of Tartarus with the help of her new children. The Gods seemed all to ready for this nightmare to happen. They called upon mighty heroes and demigods to help them in this fight for the fate of mankind laid with their victory or defeat.
Terrible battles ensued between the Immortals, neither side gaining or losing an inch, they were deadlocked. Ares would charge forward, only to be thrown back by a thundering wave brought forth by Oceanus. Zeus would hurl his lightning bolt into the hordes of Titans, only to be pushed back by the sickle of Uranus wielded by Cronus. Demeter seemed upset by the course of the war and the toll it was taking on nature. She didn’t wish for this war, but it was to come whether she wanted it or not. She knew humanity would suffer, but she would do her best to protect them. The humans fought just as hard against some of Gaia’s new children. The green brutes were made to fight the humans with the strength and stamina of a few humans. The two sides lost so many and yet neither one wanted to give ground. Choices had to be made. Who will you help to win the fight? The Titans or the Gods? Only the fates know.
Role-Play:
Mythology:
Greek mythology contains creation stories that are very different from either the familiar story of Adam and Eve or the Big Bang. In Greek myths about the early world, themes of parental treachery alternate with tales of filial betrayal. You'll also find love and loyalty. There are all the essentials of good plot lines. Birth and cosmic creation are linked. Mountains and other physical parts of the world are born through procreation. Granted, it is procreation between things that we don't think of as procreating, but this is an ancient version and part of the ancient mythological worldview.
To gain total control of the universe Zeus fought a series of wars with the Titans, the Giants, and Typhon. In the war with the Titans, Zeus along with his five brothers and sisters (Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Hera, and Demeter) conquered the Titans with the help of the Hundred-handed monsters and a wise son of a Titan, Prometheus. Pan, the satyr, took glory in the idea that his weapon, a shrill shout, with a sudden, unreasoning terror, or "panic," helped in overcoming the Titans. Zeus bound the Titans in chains and hurled them into Tartarus of the Underworld.
The gods and goddesses continued in a war with the Giants. Although the gods seemed to have the advantage, they learned from an oracle that they could never defeat the Giants without the aid of the mortal, Heracles, who shot many of the strongest of the Giants. Zeus and Heracles fought together. Zeus struck Giants with his thunderbolts and Heracles finished them off with his arrows. Zeus then hurled the Giants into Tartarus as well.
Zeus fought Typhon with lightning until even the Titans imprisoned in the depths of Tartarus trembled. At last the god prevailed. He crushed Typhon's smoking body with a mountain, Mt. Ætna.
Lore
Gods vs Titans
Long ago, there was a period known as The Great War. This war consisted of two types of beings. The Gods, also known as the Olympians, and those known as the Titans. The Titans sought to rule the world and the enslave all mankind. The Gods would not allow this and so began The Great War. The Titans were strong in the beginning but though they had numbers and size on their side, they were slowly being defeated. Many upon many of battles were fought during this war. Only a select few have been documented.
The Battle of the Sea
As one may know, each God controls a different element or nature of life. The Titans did not control these but came in many elemental forms such as flesh, molten lava, or earth. The Titans knew if they could take the sea, mankind would be without water which would lead to thirst, starvation, and, madness. They would soon bow down to their giant masters. They launched their attack but soon forgot who they were tangling with. Poseidon ruled the sea and would not give it up easily. He had been working on a new creature for Aphrodite. He called it a “horse” which is what they are known as today. He used this new creature to aid mankind, for they would not give up the sea so easily either. Together they ran into battle and crushed the Titans pathetic assault. Many human lives were lost that day and too many cities and towns were destroyed. For you see, Poseidon had to unleash the fury of the sea to stop the Titans. They were easily crushing the humans and their horses. He raised the sea to try and drown the Titans. But Titans are strong and stand tall. The cities were flooded and many humans drowned. Men, women, and children alike were all killed that day. But, this tragedy was not in vain. Poseidon knew the risk but there was no other way to stop the Titans. After the battle, the sea was lowered and the land was once again revealed. Human remains were washed away and only ruins were left standing. Poseidon swore he would avenge all who were lost that day and told Hades to grant all the lost souls eternal peace in Elysium. He swore that once this war was over, he would make every village, city, camp, etc. that worshipped him, a bounty of fish and water. This would last for a year and nothing but peace and happiness would be within the land.
The Battle of Gaia (The 100 Year Battle)
This is one of the most historical battles ever documented. The world we are on, the way it’s shaped, the way it was formed, was all because of this battle. The Gods had the upper hand and were ready to destroy the titans once and for all. The twelve gods and the army of Titans met on each side of a plain. At the sound of a horn, the battle began. This was the longest battle ever recorded for it lasted 100 years. Mankind was not prepared for such an event and was nearly destroyed. Zeus loved mankind and was tired of seeing them suffer. Each god was sent to collect as many humans as they could and bring them to reside in Mount Olympus. It was said that only about 100,000 humans survived and made it to Mount Olympus. Once safe, the Gods knew they could unleash their ultimate powers. This shredded the land leaving it a barren landscape. Titan after Titan fell but still the Gods were outmatched. They could keep fighting but not forever. Eventually the Titans would take the advantage of the Gods’ fatiguing and would slaughter them. Seeing this, Zeus decided to abandon the hopes of crushing the Titans. Seeing the Zeus losing faith, Poseidon reached to his brother and suggested instead of slaughtering them all, trap them. It was a bold move and had great risk. Many Gods were wounded but miraculously, none of them died. The Gods had done the unthinkable. They opened Gaia and one after another threw the Titans down. Once every Titan found was enslaved, they were cast in chains and sent to work. The Gods were pleased with their work and celebrated. But this celebration did not last long for Gaia had been ravished. Mankind was on the brink of extinction. The gods knew they had to do something and together, they stood around Gaia, arm in arm. They chanted “Μaζί, ενώνουμε τις δυνάμεις μaς γιa νa σaς εξοικονομήσει Γaίa. Γιa νa σaς μετaρρυθμίσει κaι νa σaς κάνει κaι πάλι την Μητέρa Πaντοδύνaμος” Which translates to: “Together, we unite our powers to save you Gaia. To reform you and make you once again the Almighty Mother”. All of mankind was grateful and again strong cities were built and the gods once again worshipped. The Gods sent every lost soul (except the Titans’) souls to Elysium to show their mercy and beg for forgiveness. To this day, no one knows the fate of the escaped Titans but knows they are out there and that the Gods will protect Man and never let something like this happen ever again.

Skins:
Names:
Civilizations:
Nations:
Cities: Cities can be unregistered and do not required borders. A group of five players or higher who live in the same area can be considered a city. A mayor as head of state is optional.
County: A county is a group of ten players or higher who live in the same general area and have a capital city. A count as head of state is optional. A county must be registered and given land borders to be recognized as such. (Registered counties receive a bedrock vault to store the national treasury)
Kingdom: A kingdom requires multiple counties and must be registered, each county must have land borders as well as the kingdom as a whole. The kingdom must have a capital city in which the king resides.
(The King gets a daily trickle of Favor which he can spread to the people or keep for himself)
Empire: An empire requires multiple kingdoms and must be registered, each kingdom must have a capital city in which the king resides and the empire must have a capital city in which the emperor resides.
(Free warps to every city under the empire's control and warps from the city to the captiol if the Leader so desires)
Ranks: Can be gained or lost so nations must remain stable in order to hold their rank. There are many ways in which large nations can drop down ranks or even die altogether.
War:
Wars are fought by declaring invasions on different areas/cities. Participants of the defending nation should report to that city that is being invaded. All attackers must stay outside the walls or a reasonable perimeter of the settlement. Have an admin watch the battle as it is fought.
Invasions end when there is only one side alive and they have captured the city.
Wars end when both sides agree to it or one side surrenders or becomes inactive. Also, it is possible for an entire nation to be completely destroyed when all territories they own are lost.
Players who are killed during war need new characters and they must be submitted to the MC Forums, unless they are just going to take the role of a citizen in the city they were killed under whoever won the battle for that city, be it friend or foe.
Assassination: If a player has a valid reason to assassinate another player, he or she may. If it is not role-played correctly, contact an admin who will review the case. Their word is final and faulty assassinations can result in temporary banning for the killer. Do remember one side during an assassination was never told it was going to happen. You do need to tell a staff member who you are killing, why and when to see if this is approved. This is not an act of war unless the person is SEEN. This means you have to see them killing the person not just having it appear in chat and blaming. (If you report an assassination through seeing it in the chat log, we will brush it off and move on.) If it is not roleplayed out at all, screencap it and send it to one of the admins.)
Conquest: If a nation conquers another nation then it can gain it as territory. For example if a county conquers another county then the victorious county can become a kingdom taking the previous county's land. If the conquered territory is depopulated or launches a successful rebellion then the rank gained is lost.
Grace Period: This is a permanent peace between unregistered nations and everyone else. This allows the players to find more members before building and worrying about war. Once registered though, this period is immediately over, but that doesn't mean assassinations can't happen. There is no raiding when under the grace period.
Rebellion: A newly conquered nation cannot rebel from their parent nation until it has been under its control for at least a month (Minecraft time). A war will then take place to determine whether or not the rebelling nation gains its independence.
Succession: A nation can succeed from it's mother nation if it calls for succession. The mother nation can agree to let this nation succeed and allow it to gain independence. The choice is up to the mother nation as to whether or not it wants to allow the territory to break off. All the nation wanting to succeed can do is call for succession if the right to independence is constantly denied as a sub-state and or colony of the mother nation you might want to risk it in a rebellion.
Invasion: An invasion is when an invading nation attempts to steal a certain territory from another nation. If the invading nation wins then it can take that territory as its own.
Counter-Wars: If war has been declared upon you and you win the war then you can continue with the war by invading the losing nation for a certain territory or conquering it in it's entirety. This way an invading nation picking on a bigger nation might get swallowed up.
Favor:
The chart below shows the items and their value. The currency unit is just Favor as these values are common worldwide.

Nation leaders and governments reserve the right to do as they wish when it comes to their nation, for obvious RP purposes, as long as they follow the server rules. Any issues regarding moving of player property who belong to that nation should be brought to an Admin for discussion. If players do not like what their leader is doing, they have every right to get what is theirs and move out of the nation. We are NOT allowing leaders to take claim over another person's belongings even if it can be done in real life.
Warps:
Each new city must be registered for that specific nation before an admin will create a warp to that city that can then be accessed from spawn. If it a truly amazing boat that is "big" enough to it may have more warps. There will be no more /spawn.
When at war with another nation, be sure to destroy any enemy boats at your ports.
There is to be NO WARPING to a nation where no one is online from that nation
Players are NOT allowed to use warps on ships that do not belong to their nation

What do you know about classical antiquity?:
The famous Battle of Hastings did not take place in Hastings! It was actually waged at Senlac Hill – which is about 6 miles (10km) north-west of Hastings. “The battle at Senlac Hill” certainly doesn’t have the same ring to it as “The Battle of Hastings”!
2. One of the earliest versions of the London Bridge was destroyed in 1014 when the Saxons rowed up the Thames, tied ropes to it, and pulled it down! This helped regain London for the Anglo-Saxon king against the Danes. It is possible that this event may have been the inspiration for the nursery rhyme “London Bridge is falling down”.
3. Berengaria of Navarre was the Queen of England by her marriage to King Richard The Lionheart. Little is known of her life – but what is known is that she is the only Queen of England never to step foot in England! The entire time that she was married to Richard, she lived in Europe. In fact, Richard himself only spent about 6 months in England as he was so busy traveling on crusader business.
4. In 1086, 10% of the population recorded in the Domesday Book (a large census) were slaves. In some areas, there were as many as 20%.
5. England used to be the native home of Brown Bears, but they became extinct around the 11th century. In latter parts of the Middle Ages, the bears were imported into England for sport.
There is much evidence to suggest that King Richard I (the Lionheart) was a homosexual. There is a possibility that he met his wife Berenegaria whilst in a sexual relationship with her brother, the future King Sancho VII of Navarre. It is also reported that he and King Philip II of France were involved. A historian of the time, Roger of Hoveden said they “ate from the same dish and at night slept in one bed” and had a “passionate love between them”.
7. It was not uncommon in England during the medieval period, for animals to be put on trial for crimes. Animals could be sentenced to death if found guilty of their crimes. Take that PETA!
8. The Middle English term “pygg” referred to a type of clay. In the middle ages, people would often keep coins in jars or pots made of pygg – these were called “pygg jars”. By the 18th century, with the evolution of language, these came to be known as a “pig bank” or “piggy bank”.
9. Contrary to popular belief, medieval English people bathed quite regularly in public baths designed for that purpose. This was due to the belief that “cleanliness is next to Godliness”. Public baths were eventually opposed by the Protestants in the 16th century because of prostitution being common there.
10. Most common folk had to produce their own food. For this reason rye and barley bread was common amongst the poor who could not afford the large quantities of manure needed to grow wheat for white bread.
11. Trial by ordeal was common in England in the middle ages. In this trial, the accused would be subjected to a very painful task (such as being burnt by a hot iron) – if they survived the trial, or their wounds healed quickly, they would be found not guilty as it was believed that God had performed a miracle to help the accused. The Catholic Church forbade participation in these trials and demanded the use of compurgation instead. Compurgation was the taking of an oath of innocence by the accused which 12 peers must believe.
12. One bizarre recipe for a medicine to protect against the plague involved drinking ale that has had crushed roasted egg shells, leaves and petals of marigold flowers, and treacle added to it. Needless to say this was not particularly effective.
13. The Barber’s pole symbolizes blood and bandages, as most barbers also performed the roles of surgeons and dentists in their towns. Bandages stained with blood would be washed and hung from a pole outside the barber’s shop – these would then twist in the wind to form the spiral pattern we are all familiar with today. Macabre but true.
14. Prior to the introduction of surnames in England in 1066, everyone born had just one name. When surnames were introduced they would often include a nickname – such as Robert Red (symbolic of his hair color). If Robert went bald over time, his name could change to “Robert Ball” (ball meaning bald in Middle English). In time, the system evolved to a point where people would take the same name as their father – giving us the modern surname system.
15. Contrary to popular belief, gargoyles were not added to Churches and buildings to ward off evil spirits – they were drain pipes! True gargoyles project out of a wall (decorative monsters are not gargoyles) and rain water flows out their mouths away from the building, rather than down the side of the building causing damage. Their true purpose can be seen quite clearly in the photograph above of St Mary’s Church in Adderbury. Gargoyles can be found all over Great Britain and are visible on virtually every Church built there during the middle ages.
