I've done tons of servers over the years, but haven't for the past while. Just moved to a new location, using Cogeco now. I've port forwarded, and when I enter my IP into an online port checker, they show up saying the port is open, and I can even see the MoTD my server has, so it's definitely recognizing it.
When I enter my local IP into Minecraft, it shows up.
When I enter the public IP I put into the port checker (which showed up fine) into Minecraft, it says "can't connect to server".
When I enter my ipv6 into Minecraft it shows the server and I can join (it's a ridiculously long IP), however, port checker sites don't recognize it (because it's not a "real" IP address).
I've used freedns to make a reroute thing, and it works on my computer, but no others (they all say it's an invalid name or something).
All firewalls are off, I've done DMZ, opened ports for 25565 in my router, and restarted the routed. Tried it wifi and ethernet.
I'm just confused why my regular IP (ipv4) will work with port checkers but not show up in MC, and why my ipv6 shows up in MC but not in port checkers.
Any reasons why MC won't recognize it, even though port checkers do? Any ideas I can try to make it work?
(Additionally, this is making it annoying to do a free DNS, because obviously it wants an ipv4, and when I use the ipv6 with AAAA it doesn't work for some reason).
