You’re walking around the markets at around noon. There’s a lot of people around you, still gathering their items as they prepare to shut down their many stands. Suddenly you feel a gentle lifting of your coin purse as a child graces you and soon after they take off sprinting. You have been robbed.
*Sighs as she realizes this action* "Could of just asked, oh well no big deal. " *shrugging and went to walk off* "Then again I would not ask for help if I was scared " *mutters softly and laughed to herself* "I'm not going to worry over it. I can make more coin" *stops turning slightly* "Must be a way to help but how"
You’re heading back to the city through the woods when you hear a whining coming from nearby. Upon further investigation you come across a grey-coloured wolf that appears to have its leg caught in a bear trap. Around it is three smaller lumps of fur, obviously puppies belonging to the trapped mother. Without help, they’ll all die, but wolf skins are quite valuable too, not to mention that the nearby farms suffer quite a bit from the wolf population.
" Oh you poor thing" *glances around* "I hate doing this" *pulls out a knife putting the adult out of her misery* "I will just bury the poor creature don't care how much the fur costs" *cleaning the knife she removed the leg from the trapped, carefully she picks up the puppies* "I'll care for them best I can" *placed each one in her satchel which was empty then picked the dead wolf up and walked off*

-Magic Biography; Explain the reason you want your character to have magic through backstory application: (At least three extremely well-crafted paragraphs. You must describe to us why your character can use magic, what drives him to further his ability, how he learned that he could use magic, and what benefits magic brings to this character, what type of magic they’ll strive to use, etc.)
-Please give an example in your own words describing the limitations a drawbacks placed upon those who use magic: (This should be at least one well-crafted paragraph):
-Please give a description of the magic system in your own words:
-You are given a weak trinket of <blank>, you haven't had much practice with magic yet, but you will try your best. Describe some things you could/would do with this trinket:
You start with one aspect only. You gain the rest of them (How ever many your race may have) of your own choice through further RP, however you will not be able to attain them immediately.
Thank you for applying! Unfortunately, I will have to deny your application. It is severely lacking in information overall, with the backstory being far from the expected length and lacking any mention of server lore and historical necessities such as the Pact War. Your meta-gaming definition is very scattered and lacking in a clear definition, and there's reason to believe you haven't really gone through any of the server's lore in that even the race can't be decided upon or defined clearly. Should you like to reapply, please adjust these issues and poke!
-Do you have any prior roleplay-related experience, if so could you give an example? Yes. I do. I've been roleplaying for 6 years now. An example? Alright:
Tired… Groggy… exhausted. All of these feelings balled into one big lump within the elf's chest. He raised his eyelids, revealing his bright blue eyes which turned to look at the window. The same window that was inviting the sun’s rays into his bedroom and directing into his face, forcing him grunt in slight pain and cover his eyes with his forearm quickly to shield himself from said agony.
-Define Power-gaming in your own words: Not giving a player a chance in roleplay and/or acting unbeatable. For example, a character getting shot by four arrows in their legs and still having the ability to run like an animal on adrenaline. Or during a fight, a player claims they are strong enough to grab a sword and rip it from your hands with no problems.
-Define Meta-gaming in your own words: Using out of character information within character. An example of this is looking at a dynmap to search for someone you are trying to attack. Or getting information that someone is coming to kill you and running off to hide.
-Define Role-Playing in your own words: Roleplaying is being able to play as someone you can’t become in the real world. Such as an elven knight or a human mage. Even an assassin. Well, I guess you could be an assassin in the real world but it wouldn't be okay! Anyway, roleplay is creative and imagination with no limits or consequences.
----IC Info---- -Character name: Paige
-Character race: Half elf.
-Character gender: Male.
-Character age: 32
-Character Occupation: He works as a butler to any lord or lady of his choice.
-Character description: Paige stands at 6 feet exactly with silver white hair that reaches past his but is held within a high up ponytail. On his face, he wears thin oval glasses which cover his light blue eyes and a small beauty mark under his left eyes ever so slightly. His attire is always a suit. This suit included a bow tie which was black. A pure white button down collar shirt. Over the shirt is a dull black coat with a cloth neatly folded with a pocket over his chest. He wears simple leather boots but under his pants legs. He also has white gloves but often never wears them. This is his everyday attire. He would never be seen in other clothing unless he was asleep or his suit was damaged beyond repair. Even though he is a male, he dawns feminine qualities such as long eyelashes, soft and unblemished skin, and bright beautiful eyes, soft lips, things that could easily mistake him for a female but under his suit, his physique is robust.
-Character personality and traits: Paige is often seen as very charming and well mannered. It is rare to see him angry as he considers an angry butler is not a good one. He will always been clean, smelling of lavender oils he makes when he stumbles upon them. When approaching someone new, he will bow and greet them with respect no matter how awful they are to him. He focuses more on his job then his social life. He doesn’t mind making a friend here and there but when it comes to lovers, he considers being alone the best option as to not distract him from his goals.
-Character biography: Paige wasn't always his mannered self. Around during his child years, he was quite the punk. He caused mischief where he went. He broke windows of houses he hated, bad mouthed people he disliked, destroyed property, the list goes on. His father always punished him for his god awful behavior but it only encourage the young elf to be at his worst behavior. Around 10, Paige was introduced to his new little brother. Cyrus. At first, Paige was very put of by the fact he was an older brother but what really bothered him was the fact that he was no longer an older child and that this brother was born from a completely different woman. Eventually Paige was forced to accept that he had a new sibling, whether he liked it or not. At age 11, His father was sent off to take care of business in another city, aka the war, meaning he would possibly never return. In the fathers absence, Paige was assigned to a butler who was in charge of raising him and his little brother, Cyrus, for the time being.
Even with the butler as his new guardian, Paige still continued his awful behavior. But unlike the father, the butler didn't punish him. Didn't scold him. Nor did he give him any sort of attention. This annoyed Paige and he then challenged the butler to a fight. The butler then addressed a deal. “If you win, you may cause all the damage you want. Honestly, I'll even take blame for you mischief.” Intrigued by this offer, Paige asked what would the butler get if he won. He told Paige that he had to stop his juvenile behavior and learn the ways of an elegant butler. Finding this fun, Paige accepted his challenge… And lose horribly. This forced Paige to become a butler.
For 5 months, Paige did all the butler said, cleaning, cooking, fixing clothing, being well mannered, always high posture, etc. Paige begin to enjoy it. Yes, it was basically chores but he was having fun spending time with the butler. At the age of 14, Paige eventually became a well mannered butler. However, the father was not happy. He wanted to return to a son who was a strong soldier. Not a prissy butler. The father then despised his own his, abusing him anytime he disobeyed his orders or acted like a servant. Still at age, 14, Paige and his little brother were struggling during the war, the father was never around as he went off to fight in this war. Paige was doing alright, with the butler, his brother and himself living together and working, nothing to stop them. There were times where they struggled for food and water, learning how to survive in the town if the butler was to die. It was hard at first but he learned. Paige felt nothing could stop him! However around 16, the sudden plague happened. Paige got word of the plague and got worried. His brother was still a child and technically, Paige was still young too. He was aware of the immunity of high elves and diseases however, him being half elf still meant he was still in high risk of being infected by this and didn't want to take the chance. With everything packed and limited time, he took his little brother and abandoned his home, seeking refugee in new lands.

Suddenly feeling his coin purse being taken, Paige swiftly turned around, already noticing that the child was quickly escaping. He quickly rushed off to pursue the child thief but due to the crowded streets and his tall figure, it was hard to follow the child; let alone keep track of where he went. Eventually Paige got tired and lost the child. Feeling as it was hopeless, he decided to return home and search through what little food he had since he couldn't buy anything now.
You’re heading back to the city through the woods when you hear a whining coming from nearby. Paige noticed the wolf in peril and felt sorrow for it. He had no medical supplies on him and he didn't know what to do. He knows wolves can be very hostile towards humans and even if he was to help, the mother would eventually bleed out. But if it is freed, it might kill him. “Ugh… Why must the gods force me to do this?” Paige sighed and slowly walked over. He then gulped and quickly opened the bear trap as fast as he could. Once it was opened, he ran away, letting nature deal with her now.

-Character Occupation (optional, note you still must talk to the lord

characters starting skill set): farmer/masseuse
-Character description (At least one to two paragraphs describing your
character’s visual appearance.): To anyone who doesn’t know Rhaelyn, she would look like a fairly attractive, hardworking young woman. She doesn’t actually like working, though, so that statement would only be half true. She really shines when smiling, though. Her eyes always seem to be sparkling when she does, which might be because of their bright blue colour. She has an oval shaped face, a small mouth and a fairly small nose as well. Her skin is smooth and pale and her hair is wavy, long and blonde. She generally lets it fall over her back and shoulders, but on special occasions she sometimes wears it up. Her body is slim, but she is fairly fit as well. Her adventurous lifestyle dictates such. She’s 5’4” tall and weighs around 120 lbs. Most of the time she wears very simple clothing and even though she washes herself often and thoroughly, she has the tendency to get herself dirty pretty quickly as well.
-Character personality and traits (At least one to two paragraphs
describing their personality traits and/or quirks.): Rhaelyn is quite shy, which becomes very noticeable when she speaks to strangers. It takes a while for her to warm up to people, but when she does she often becomes good friends with that person. Her shyness does not diminish her curiosity, though. She often studies things that are unknown to her thoroughly, be it an animal, building, someone’s clothing style or someone’s use of magic. She never liked heights and thunder much, though. Rhaelyn is friendly and polite, and she usually backs down fairly quickly when faced with trouble. She hates getting into fights or arguments with people, and can sometimes lie to avoid confrontation. This sometimes leads to even bigger issues in the long run, though.
Character biography (At least three paragraphs describing your character's history and experiences):
Rhaelyn’s parents, Azariah and Eredin, got married in the middle of the pact war. They hadn’t the money nor the connections to arrange a grand wedding, and many of their friends and acquaintances had already passed away or fled during the war. Nevertheless, they couldn’t have been happier. They saw their marriage as a beacon of light in the dark times they lived in. It wasn’t easy for them, though. Many around them didn’t appreciate the union of two different races, even if it was between alliance races. Azariah and Eredin felt it was because of pride, and even theorised sometimes the elven and humans might have some conflict brewing as well, even though that might be far from the truth.
61 years into the war and 5 years into their marriage, Azariah and Eredin had their first and only child: Rhaelyn. The timing couldn’t be worse, though. Azariah went into labour mere hours before an attack from the pact, and the child wasn’t born before half the town was alight. The monsters were standing at their door, and all Eredin could do was hold them off as long as possible, hoping rescue would arrive soon. Luckily for them, it did, but not before Eredin had already taken an arrow to the chest. There was no saving him, but Azariah and Rhaelyn were brought away safely. Eredin never got a proper burial, much to Azariah’s regret.
One of the soldiers, named Nathaniel, who rescued them was injured gravely during the fight, and was thus sent home. He was one of the closest friends of his unit’s commander, who gave him a generous allowance. The soldier, pitied the mother and child he’d saved. They’d no home, no income and no father figure in the family. Nathaniel took Azariah and Rhaelyn in, since he’d now plenty money to do so. Azariah always thought it was purely out of the pity he felt for them, but Nathaniel had ulterior motives as well.
When Rhaelyn was 10, Azariah and Nathaniel, who had married a few years prior, moved to Barkamsted with her. There she learned everything she knew; how to cook, wash, perform other tasks around the house and most importantly: social skills. Rhaelyn never thought of herself as a woman who’d become a simple housewife, though. She craved a more adventerous life. Until 2 years after they’d moved to Barkamsted, the war had stopped her from going out and leaving the comfort of her home. It was only until 10 years after the war had ended that she could actually convince her mother and step-father to allow her to leave the house by herself. Her dream came true, but her dream is only where her story truly started.

Thank you for your application! However, I'll have to deny this application on account of a severe show of any knowledge of the Pact War showed, as well as being rather unrealistic and making the character out to be a special snowflake of sorts. To start, the Pact War started 85 years ago, with Barkamsted becoming the last safe bastion of any Alliance races 15 years ago and the war ending 13 years ago. Your application's timeline and character age are horribly inconsistent with this.
Furthermore, your character description and personality are severely lacking in detail, only containing the smallest amounts of information. I'd like to see more work on this. The backstory in general is very all over the place, going from one point in time to another with the smallest connections. To start, I don't see any reason why a guard, a Captain at that, would choose to adopt a random and unknown child only due to the death of their parents. That'll be denied in its entirety, and the backstory, in general, will require complete reworking. Should edits be made, please poke and another review may follow!
-Do you have any prior roleplay-related experience, if so could you give an example? I have 6+ years of RP experience, from different MC roleplay servers, to SWTOR, WoW, and even the occasional Discord RP. All being in a Fantasy setting.
-Define Power-gaming in your own words: Powergaming is when you force an action onto another Player, or if you do something outside the realm of possibility for your character. For Example, "Tim swings his sword and cuts Jon's head off." Is powergaming, as you gave no time for any reaction what so ever for the other person. Or if you "Tim creates an earthquake that tears down the city's walls!" Is also powergaming.
-Define Meta-gaming in your own words: Metagaming is when you use outside information in character, and have it influence your actions. For instance, if you find out OOCly that your sweet wife has been boinking Tim the stablehand, and you go out and randomly kill Tim for no other apparent reason, then boom, metagaming.
-Define Role-Playing in your own words: Role-playing is when you take on a persona of a character you created and act out what that character would do. For example, you want to be a farmer! You create tim the farmhand and you act out your farming fantasies on the server in accordance to any rules of said server.

-Character name: Baelin Galaeron
-Character race: High Elf
-Character gender: Male
-Character age: 91
-Character Occupation (optional, note you still must talk to the lord about loaning or purchasing any stall/shop for your character if he/she would have one. This more or less helps us to better understand your characters starting skill set): N/A
-Character description (At least one to two paragraphs describing your character’s visual appearance.): Baelin stands at about Seven feet in height, yet very slender due to his Racial heritage. This of course makes Baelin a more slender and skinny looking Elf yet quite healthy for one of his race. Even with his rather pale complexion. Baelin has long silver hair, almost white-like. His eyes however are a deep-sea blue.
-Character personality and traits (At least one to two paragraphs describing their personality traits and/or quirks.): Baelin is a rather quiet type of man, with mostly keeping to himself in most cases. Every since he was a child he was more bookish and more of a indoors type of person. Of course due to this his social skills are not... entirely there. However as of recently he has been trying to learn the proper manners with speaking with people and so on, knowing its time to get on with life. Despite his quirks and faults, he is a kind gentleman yet that doesn't stop him from becoming vindictive should someone wrong him or his Family. Baelin enjoys learning and reading, something he has always been interested in since he was a child. And of course, when someone asks him questions about a subject he enjoys so much he is eager to pass on his own knowledge to those he like.
-Character biography (At least three paragraphs describing your character's history and experiences): Baelin was born in the Grand city of Silivrenmir on the 23rd of Narquelie, born to two High Elves, and had a typical normal childhood for the first few years of his simple life. However that all changed, once the Pact began their way upon Elves, Dwarves, and Man. With the focus of the War and where the thickiest fighting occured, Baelin's family had to flee the city as many others had too back in those days, forcing them to be refugees in a foreign world where his family knew little about. However as the war dragged on, Baelin's Father signed up to join the military of the Elves, to help win back their favored city. Unfortunately he later fell on the field of battle, killed by a Troll's mace. With Baelin alone with his Mother, the two fended off hunger and the cold in the city of Barkemsted.
His Mother, a tall beauty in her own right, managed to acquired a job at the local tavern, serving Soldiers and Commoners alike while poor little Baelin sat in a back room by himself. Nothing to do but read from the occasional book he managed to scrounge up. It was in this small room he developed his anti-social quirks and isolationism, his thirst for knowledge. As the years drew on, he didn't change much, soon being a lonely teenager in his room, ever reading. At some point however, he began to travel more around the Tavern and eventually around the district of the city he had lived at. He wanted to see what exactly was out there in this world, to see what his books talked about. What he had to flee from when he was a babe. That was the moment..
Eventually he managed to get a few odd jobs here and there around the city, becoming a man in his own right as he wanted to help his Mother out who over the years began to grow weary of everything. From helping local merchants move goods, from helping out at local bookstores, anything to acquire any bit of coin to help move his Mother out of this retched hole of a tavern, as many men had tried to have their way with a beautiful Elven woman. Though he was too late in the end, to help his mother. A drunken man at the Tavern had took her life after his advances were rejected by her. Though the man was jailed, it left a bitter taste in Baelin's mouth. Such cruelty deserved to be met with similar cruelty, atleast in his eyes. He learned his lessons, from his childhood and his early adulthood. His philosophy was sharpened, and he struck out on his very own for the first time..

Baelin turned his head a bit as he felt the child brush past him, and immediately sprinted off. Oh dear, he knew what happened. That was his entire savings and he knew he wouldn't eat without it tonight. The Elf quickly took off after the child down the street as he waved his hand towards any nearby, "Help! That kid stole my money!" He shouted, yet not many were rushing to help a Elf being cheated out of a few coins. Luckily however an Elf was quicker than most, even more so a child, and soon managed to gain enough ground to catch up before tripping over the kid. Once done he quickly snatched up his coin purse and tossed a coin over towards the kid, "Next time, be smarter and steal from a Dwarf or something.." And with that he leaned closer, "Or better yet, don't steal unless you want a hand cut off." With a bit of a deep breath he straightened himself up before sticking his purse inside of his pocket, keeping a hand wrapped around it as he was going to take a bit more precautions from now on.
You’re heading back to the city through the woods when you hear a whining coming from nearby. Around it is three smaller lumps of fur, obviously puppies belonging to the trapped mother. Without help, they’ll all die, but wolf skins are quite valuable too, not to mention that the nearby farms suffer quite a bit from the wolf population.
Baelin would stop in his tracks as he watched the wolf, his eyes quickly darting around to make sure there was no others around that will make a meal out of him. However as no other animals were around, he took out his dagger. The wolf was injured, and had been messing with the local farmers. It was a mercy to put her out of her misery, and a favor to the farmers, plus a little bit of gold in his own pocket. He took his dagger and went to stab it into the Mother's neck, severing its artery to make it end quickly. With that he picked up the Wolf, leaving her children behind. It was the course of nature after all, survival of the fittest. If the cubs would live from this, they would be stronger, if not, well, no one would really care if there were more wolves in the woods hunting livestock and Children.

Even though he is one, he is very bad at it. He is the town drunk in all aspects. Wherever he is, his eyes seem to be holding some unseen tragedy, and they would be darting around looking for a threat. He would have sticky fingers, as much as he tries not to, he can’t help it. He would still be a kind hearted man, perhaps it isn’t his fault for the alcoholism, maybe he is trying to forget something. Despite his past, he would be the jovial figure in the bar. Raising his drink for a toast every ten minutes. -
Character biography (At least three paragraphs describing your character's history and experiences): Ishmael was born in a small town near Falkvard. His parents were simple farmers, and he a troubled child. He always got in trouble for stealing, it was a second nature to him. He continued this pattern until his 16th birthday. Missionaries had arrived in his town. They were followers of Aderoth. He saw an opportunity, he liked people and who would arrest a holy man. He went on his merry way with these missionaries, and it remained that way until the even of his 31th birthday. His band of missionaries were attacked in the dead of night, he never even saw who they were. He hid, but the sun rose as it always does. Bodies of good men were strewn about, some with chunks bitten out. He broke down. He picked himself up, he spent weeks burying the bodies, at the end of it he was half dead. He stumbled into the nearest tavern and started drinking. It never stopped, he did odd jobs to earn some coins, but was seldom bothered. -
Please give us a short RP response to these two scenarios. (At least one paragraph for each): You’re walking around the markets at around noon. There’s a lot of people around you, still gathering their items as they prepare to shut down their many stands. Suddenly you feel a gentle lifting of your coin purse as a child graces you and soon after they take off sprinting. You have been robbed.
*Ishamel would scream* “Stop, child ! I am a Holy Man ! How dare you !” *he would stumble after the child, throwing his bottle of rum at the small figure, he would start screaming* “Guards, guards stop this little thief” *the Guards would inevitably stop the thief, returning the coins to Ishamael, and asking him if he wanted the child put away. He would shake his head, no and grab his coins walking to the nearest tavern and start drinking*
*Ishmael would stumble to the wolf, it would snarl viciously. He would feel saddened, his mentors taught him the value of life, even if it is evil. He would carefully walk up to the wolf, whispering to himself, and undoing the trap. The wolf would stare, eventually getting up and walking into the woods. *
Extra notes (Optional, could include theme songs, pictures, etc.): Only fill out below if you want your character to have magic capabilities.
Well, I want my character to have magic to make his descent into madness that much more interesting. He would always have the power to use it, but the missionaries who let him join them helped him to realize it was even there. They taught him the Light Magic of healing. He would advance considerably with his magic during their travels. That was until the eve of his 31th birthday, when the battle happened. He hid, until the sun rose. His friends, who he considered his family, dead, strewn about. He frantically kept trying to heal them, trying to resurrect them, it didn’t work. He exploded, not literally of course. From what he could tell, his magic left him. (Not really but there will be a journey to get it back for him) He broke down and started burying his friends. It took weeks, he was dead on the inside. (Then he winds up in a tavern) The extent of his magic would top out at major wounds, life threatening of course. But for a long time, he would be able to heal minor cuts, or gashes. The only thing that drives him to further his ability is to stop what happened to him, from happening to anyone else. He would only seek to heal, even heal himself of the alcoholism.
-Please give an example in your own words describing the limitations a drawbacks placed upon those who use magic: (This should be at least one well-crafted paragraph): Well, let’s start with drawbacks. For me, this would be not being able to kill, this would only pertain to my character. The magic doesn’t damage light monsters/humans. For me the limitation would be healing life threatening wounds, but it would take a long time to get to that level. Those who use this magic, cannot use dark magic. For others, they could manage to manifest the light into solid form, to make a shield or something else like that, but again this would only effect dark/evil/undead creatures.
-Please give a description of the magic system in your own words: Well, in this world. You either have the ability for magic, or you don’t. They can be more advanced depending on their race, all casters slowly work up the chain of magic. They could start with a small amount of magic and advance it. All casters need something to use to pour their magic into, such as a Trinket. Trinkets can break though. Lastly if you push yourself too far with magic you can possible die. -You are given a weak trinket of <blank>, you haven't had much practice with magic yet, but you will try your best. Describe some things you could/would do with this trinket: For this trinket I would start practicing very minor healing magic. Perhaps healing small cuts, or small wounds. I would volunteer at the local hospital, if it exists, and perhaps learn from light mages there. But I would slowly work my way up with wounds over a long period of time.
You start with one aspect only. You gain the rest of them (How ever many your race may have) of your own choice through further RP, however you will not be able to attain them immediately..
Thank you for your edits and rework! Everything should work much better now, with the forewarning that those ten years spent in Rhaelyn's birth village would be spent rather hungry and famished due to the lack of trade and general growth as all villages and lands were burned and mowed down, leading to Barkamsted being the last safe bastion of the Alliance.
With that in mind, you should be fine to go! Welcome to Saphriel, you will be whitelisted shortly!
(Keep in mind that for the first week staff will closely monitor you and if they feel you do not meet the standards of the server you may possibly be removed. Though this very rarely happens and as long as you follow the rules and RP properly you should be fine. This rule has only been put in place due to 'fake apps' made by someone other than the applicant being used to get non-RP friendly players on server. If you need help or have questions with your app, you may ask here or use the help chats in our discord.)

I have roleplayed a large amount on a server called Lord of the Craft. I have some Roleplay experience from other games as well, like WoW.
-Define Power-gaming in your own words: Power-gaming is when your character does actions that arent able to be replied to. For example. If my character *Shot an arrow is aimed and lands on and hits your heart.* and doesn't give a chance to reply or do something in that situation, that is power-gaming.
-Define Meta-gaming in your own words: meta-gaming is when you use information outside you characters knowledge in character. For example, if i see above someones character that their name is "Jones", and I say "Hey Jones!" in character when we haven't met and don't know each other's names through Roleplay, that would be metagaming.
-Define Role-Playing in your own words: Roleplaying is taking the role of a certain character and doing things as if they were that character. My real life personality would not be the characters and would not be what i would Roleplay. I would roleplay the character's personality.

-Character race: Human
-Character gender: Male
-Character age: 24
-Character Occupation (optional, note you still must talk to the lord about loaning or purchasing any stall/shop for your character if he/she would have one. This more or less helps us to better understand your characters starting skill set): General Artist ( Does things art oriented, music, writing, etc. ) and Has some farming experience.
-Character description (At least one to two paragraphs describing your character’s visual appearance.): Jaya looks like a commoner. He wears a green shirt, long brown pants, brown boots, and a sleeveless leather jacket as his normal clothes. Jaya would have a kind look about him, not at all seeming violent or uneasy. he has brown hair and brown eyes. Some additional things he has is a belt pouch, a shield with his family's crest, and a sword.
-Character personality and traits (At least one to two paragraphs describing their personality traits and/or quirks.): Jaya is very well versed artistically. He enjoys writing fictional stories, poetry, playing music, experimenting with instruments (as in how they are made), as well as painting and drawing. He also knows a fair amount about farming due to growing up on a farm. Jaya would seem to most as a kind individual. He would rarely be seen or known as getting angry or doing anything aggressive. Jaya borders on being a pacifist, he hates fighting. Jaya will fight back if he is against a wall though, or some similar situation. Jaya also is very trusting, maybe too trusting. Though Jaya is able to fight if necessary, he has no combat experience. If he was to get in a fight with someone with some combat knowledge, he would likely lose. Jaya also has no combat experience.
-Character biography (At least three paragraphs describing your character's history and experiences):
Jaya Jayamen was born to Jan and James Jayamen on their farm near Barkamsted. At age 4, Jaya started learning how to farm from his father. Doing minor chores and such to help out. At the age of 6, Jaya started learning how to write and do basic math, as his parents wanted him to be educated. In the next few years, Jaya learned better how to write, even making a few fictional stories. His parents, seeing the stories he wrote, were impressed, though not just for being his parents, He seemed even at this age good at making stories, well as well as a young boy would be able to. Jan took the initiative to teach Jaya poetry, which he immediately loved.
By Jaya's 10th birthday, Jaya had written a few small stories, some poetry, knew how to write commonly, and was good at farm work. On the day of Jaya's 10th birthday, Jan surprised Jaya with a trip to Falkvard. When arriving in the city Jaya was a bit taken aback from it, Jaya wasn't used to such a busy place. As Jaya and Jan were walking in the city, they came up to a shop. Jaya could hear something strange but beautiful coming from inside the shop. A sort of rhythmic pinging in different pitches. Jaya asked his mother what it was, and she said simply it was music. Jaya walked into the shop with his mother and was amazed. He saw many different odd things and devices in the shop, he saw lutes, harps, flutes, and other such instruments, though he didn't know what they were.
The owner of the shop was playing one of the instruments, a wooden item with metal strings. Jaya, entranced by this, listened to it with eager ears. He asked his mother if he could get one of those for his birthday. Jan smiled sadly as they didn't have that much money. When explaining this to Jaya, the owner of the store stopped and came over to them. The owner said that he overheard them and was willing to sell an instrument of the right kind to the young boy at a discounted price. Though Jan still didn't have enough, Jaya piped up and asked the owner if he could learn to play from him. The owner smiled at the boy, thinking seriously for a moment, then agreed. Jan, surprised at this, said they likely didn't have enough money to pay for lessons, to which the owner said if the boy had enough wanting to learn, he would do it for free. This started Jaya on beginning to learn to play instruments. Jaya, before returning to their farm that day, got one present from his mother. A book called "A Walk in the Woods". An adventure about a young clever boy having an adventure.
At the age of 14, Jaya had learned to play the Lute decently, he also had been given a very used lute by the owner of the store 2 years ago. Jaya had also written a small adventure book, as well as a fair amount of poetry. Jaya had also been experimenting with his lute, modifying the strings, and playing around with different ways of playing. He also had made a few songs. It was around this time that Jaya asked the store owner if he could learn to make instruments. Jaya had grown curious and eager to do so after using his lute. The owner agreed, seeing as it would mean less work for him as well as helping his friend.
Over the next 6 years, Jaya spend a good amount of time Farming, writing, Playing music, and making instruments. He also picked up a little on how to paint. Jaya had made a few songs, been working on a novel, been writing his thoughts, and also tried to experiment making instruments with spare parts at the shop.
Now, at the age of 24, Jaya knew a good deal of how to make instruments, as well as having a design for three instruments of his own. He has written a novel, as well as a volume of poetry, he was well versed with playing instruments, he has made a few songs, he knew well how to farm, and had played a little with painting. He told his parents he would be leaving the farm to try to go on his own path. He wanted to see if he could make a name for himself as an artist. With his lute, his books, and his sword and shield for safety, Jaya headed to Falkvard to be an artist. but if Jaya will succeed in his goals, only time will tell.
-Please give us a short RP response to these two scenarios. (At least one paragraph for each):
You’re walking around the markets at around noon. There’s a lot of people around you, still gathering their items as they prepare to shut down their many stands. Suddenly you feel a gentle lifting of your coin purse as a child graces you and soon after they take off sprinting. You have been robbed.
Jaya would start sprinting after the child, carefully avoiding hitting other people. Jaya would refrain from saying "Stop thief!" because he wouldn't want the child punished. If Jaya were to catch the child, He would take back his coin purse but give a little to the child, saying, "Please, if you need money try asking, or if you feel up to it, work for it. find a way. There are endless possibilities, you aren't unable to think of a way just because you are a child. Please don't resort to robbing." After which Jaya would let the child go. If Jaya were to lose the child, Jaya would likely sigh and take his losses. he wouldn't go to the guards, as he wouldn't want the child punished.
Jaya would take a look at the scene, thinking very hard on what to do. Being raised on a farm, Jaya was used to killing animals. but Jaya also was kindhearted, and didn't like seeing others, even animals, in pain. Back at the farm, Jaya was taught ways of killing animals as painless and quick as possible. Unable to think of the wolf in pain, as well as the pups, Jaya would carefully pry the trap open if he could without getting hurt from the wolf. Jaya knew that the wolves may cause trouble, but he was raised seeing killing as only done in necessity, like for food.
Extra notes (Optional, could include theme songs, pictures, etc.): I hope that my character being good in general with the arts as well as farming isn't too much. He also borders on a pacifist and is not combat trained, so he is pretty helpless in a fight. I hope that will balance the fact he is skilled artistically. Thank you for looking at my app!

Thank you for your wait! I'll have to be placing this application on pending, for the time. It is indeed the quality we expect of our application, and proper OOC knowledge is shown, but the character's backstory is severely lacking in the information expected for entry into the server. There is no notice of the Pact War, nor its effects on Jaya's family, surroundings, and self. For reference, only 15 years ago was Falkvard alone retaken during the war, the Pact War itself only having ended 14 years ago.
Please adjust your application to recognize these details, and another review will follow!
Hi, and apologies for the wait! Unfortunately, your application had been lost in the collection as they had been reviewed. Staff and server have been more busy than usual recently, so it's fine to poke and ask about the review process if ever concerned about long wait times! It is very much a help to have any applications which have waited close to or longer than a week to be brought to our attention. With this in mind, I will have to deny your application for its content.
Your application's backstory and general magic application is severely lacking overall in both the quantity and details expected. Both the backstory and magic biography are lacking in quantity, to start! Three well-crafted paragraphs are expected, though they are not provided in either case. There are no mentions of the server's lore in the backstory either, such as the Pact War, the major driving point of the majority of the server's history for example. Should you wish to attempt editing and adjusting these, please poke me with any questions and they'll be answered to shortly!
-Do you have any prior role-play related experience, if so could you give an example?
Yes I do have some role playing experience such as a D&D (although not serious, it went on for a while with a circle of friends), I played on a few role playing Minecraft servers before but having it in mind this was quite a while ago and cause of this I cant recall the names but I can say I am familiar with the genre and what it entails. I have also played the MMORPG Black Desert Online, whilst this isn't as such a role playing game I did use it for that purpose from time to time.
-Define Power-gaming in your own words:
Power-gaming is when someone creates a character that goes to their advantage in ways other players cannot reach, especially from scratch. This could include someone making a character that has maxed out strength for example and can just out fight anyone that is currently existing, or making someone inhumanly fast, although not possible it still happens. Although that is one side of it, power-gaming can also be when someone forces an RP situation upon someone that is almost guaranteed to turn out in their favor, or makes it so the other player doesn't have time to react and get a response in. For example, if someone were to go up and stab someone in the back instead of attempting to stab them in the back, the other player doesn't get a chance to see if their character could respond. Generalizing it, Power-gaming is a form of role playing that isn't accepted in most places and can deliver a negative experience.
-Define Meta-gaming in your own words:
Meta-gaming is when someone can find out information through means they weren't supposed to, this can be OOC or IC, then use this to their characters advantage. This could be done through the range that chat can be heard in games, or when people are talking about it outside of the role play but someone uses that information in character. For example, a group of characters could be plotting something important or talking about a new event for example that the eavesdropper shouldn't hear, but because of the chat radius or other means of text being visible to the character that wouldn't really be in ears range the controller of that character would then know what is happening and use it to their advantage by possibly attending such an event or intercepting their plots. Sorry if that is worded a bit weirdly, but again generalizing it meta-gaming is another form of role playing that isn't accepted in most places, potentially isn't accepted at all.
-Define Role-Playing in your own words:
Role-playing is where someone is able to create a character in a world that is virtual or fictional that they believe they would enjoy and want to experience. For example in this case a character in a sort of medieval-era which you wouldn't be able to live out in the real world. This character can have traits and personality components of the controlling persons choice but as the definitions above suggest it should be natural and something that is considered fair between everyone else. This doesn't mean however that there isn't a lot of possibilities as everyone can still come up with anything and that's what makes role-playing enjoyable, the sense of wonder that you get to play and experience a life that you would want to live.
----IC Info----
-Character name:
Vanessa, Prefers to be named Nessie.
-Character race:
Human
-Character gender:
Female
-Character age:
26
-Character Occupation (optional, note you still must talk to the lord about loaning or purchasing any stall/shop for your character if he/she would have one. This more or less helps us to better understand your characters starting skill set):
Hunter - Not for the thrill of the kill or as a sport, more for educational/research reasons/avoids killing creatures and does it to learn.
Animal Caretaker - Loves to take care of animals and see new ones.
-Character description (At least one to two paragraphs describing your character’s visual appearance.)
Nessie stands at a confident five feet five inches, just short of the average female height this does not bother her. She has well toned skin with a gentle tan, however it is far from perfection as she has quite a few scars here and there, particularly upon her face. She has rough, black hair that reaches just her chin accompanied by light brown eyes. Her attire consists of simple fabrics, mostly different shades of green and brown, enough to cover her torso and arms however she wears relatively revealing shorts. The clothes she wears although not looking like much do provide quite a lot of protection against the cold as they are thicker than one may think. For protection of the feet she wears simple brown boots lined in fur for comfort.
-Character personality and traits (At least one to two paragraphs describing their personality traits and/or quirks.):
Nessie has an approachable personality, although genuinely being mute due to her past when someone is able to get words out of her she is fun to be around. She also has a habit of using her palms to walk when being cautious about something or going near something that is new to her, this is due to her past and can be comparable to a knuckle walk or sorts. When around animals its like a new side of her is brought out as she becomes way more talkative and joyful, especially if its a species she hasn't come across before. She takes hunting very seriously and if someone were to go with her she would make it crucial that they were as silent as she was, some may find this annoying. Something that is also notable about her personality or general appearance is sometimes if she is talking to someone new she will have a nervous twitch. She doesn't know why this happens but it does embarrass her.
-Character biography (At least three paragraphs describing your character's history and experiences):
"It only takes patience, breathe. Every life comes to an end Nessie."
Since birth, Nessies' family were always strong about their passion for hunting. It was only a matter of time before they tried to introduce her to it. She and her family resided in Barkamsted at the time, since it had been known as the safe haven of man during the times of the pact war, but this didn't stop them from practicing their hobby. Every day when she wasn't being steadily educated at around the age of 6, she was taken just outside of the walls to a woods nearby with her parents. These woods were inhabited by small creatures, wolves perhaps, anything you'd expect to find and that's what her family lived around hunting. For months, adding up to years they kept going out to the same area of the woods trying to get Nessie more fond of hunting, they tried giving her daggers and bows but she could never bring herself to do it, she couldn't kill.
"Breathe, Every life comes to an end Nessie."
For what seemed like forever by the time Nessie grew to the age of 12 she still had no hope from her parents of killing any beings in those woods, and with word of the pact being stronger their trips died down slowly and slowly as time went on further, but this stupidly didn't stop her parents from wanting to try. They didn't want to give up on her. Her parents decided to take a break on the trips when she reached 13 and instead focus on educating her on different things she could find in the woods, telling her that animals were there to be hunted but she wasn't having any of it. Stubbornly, her parents gave up with being patient and decided they were going to try to force her to take her first kill. After years of staying in the walls, the panic was over and the pact war had come to a close. News of this reached her family and thus they decided to once again take her into the woods despite Nessie strongly disagreeing to go. This time, the day would not be in their favor. To this day she still doesn't know what it was but during their trip a noise unfamiliar to them was emerging from the trees and Nessie was forced to leave them and go back to the city. Everything will be okay, they said. Nothing will go wrong, they said.
"Every life comes to an end, Nessie."
That is all that remained of the quote she had been hammered with her whole life. After her parents not returning for days she feared the worse and decided to seclude herself in the residence she lived in, locking herself from civilization, only leaving when necessary. To present day it has been years since she decided to dissapear, no-one knew what she was doing, no-one really bothered to want to know so she was left to be missing, in the dark, alone.
I turn around to the lifting of my purse, only to see the child taking off behind me. I try my best to catch up pushing people out of the way and shouting for people to stop the child. Despite no-one listening to my efforts I do end up catching the child and gently, but firmly grabbing them by the arm. I speak softly to the child "Now, why are you stealing what belongs to me little one?", when the child responds with a heart breaking story about why their parents need money and are running low on food, I spare a little bit of what I have to help. Although the story may be fake, I couldn't resist the puppy dog eyes given to me by the child. I walk through the markets and exit to go home, feeling slightly better about myself.
You’re heading back to the city through the woods when you hear a whining coming from nearby. Upon further investigation you come across a grey-colored wolf that appears to have its leg caught in a bear trap. Around it is three smaller lumps of fur, obviously puppies belonging to the trapped mother. Without help, they’ll all die, but wolf skins are quite valuable too, not to mention that the nearby farms suffer quite a bit from the wolf population.
As I make my way to the distress call of the wolf, as soon as it catches my eye I go to try and lift it free from the grips of the bear trap. Being unsuccessful for a while and seeing it worsen the pain, something in me triggers as it allows me to make one final push to open the trap. I treat the wound as good as I can, tightening some vines from nearby around its leg. Although the vines wont be much help, I couldn't bring myself to put it out of its misery as well as the puppies, and couldn't bring myself to know that some villagers could end up killing them for the fur. I watch them hobble off into the bushes, hopefully never to be seen nearby again.
Everything looks to be in order with this application! The backstory is to the point and covers the Pact war's impact on Vanessa's family, so you should be good to go! As a forewarning, however, the character will not start out with their family home in Barkamsted; be it lost to property management or otherwise, no land or home will be under their name. With that in mind, welcome to Saphriel!
-Do you have any prior roleplay-related experience?
Well, I've been on several Minecraft roleplay servers in the past such as LOTC, Thronecraft, Alaurin, Fallout The Last Frontier and Aenasan. I've also participated in a few fantasy forum rps and Discord rps as well.
-Define Power-gaming in your own words:
Powergaming is forcing actions against another player ranging from casual roleplay to that of intense combat roleplay in which a player might emote impaling their opponent on the steel blade of their massive greatsword in a single emote.
-Define Meta-gaming in your own words:
Using knowledge that you've gathered through OOC means and applying it in an IC in which your character would of not have such knowledge.
-Character age: Not exactly known however, it can be assumed from his general appearance that he is between 18-20 years of age.
-Character Occupation: Farmhand
-Character description: Duncan has the appearance of a youthful young human male that has just recently reached adulthood. His hair is a nice shade of light brown and is grown out in such a way that the ends of it reach down to his lower neck. Duncan's face lacks facial hair due to regularly shaving every now and again. His skin is also quite fair with a slight tan due to long hours in the sun's rays. His attire consists of a simple jerkin over a long-sleeved wool shirt, with dark brown trousers and black boots.
-Character personality and traits: Duncan is a rather simple man even in his youth, with a currently optimistic outlook on life. He's become rather hardworking and honest due to many years of manual labor as a simple farmer. However, even in his youth, Duncan has proven himself to be incredibly stubborn and rather disliking of immediate change. His most defining strength is how headstrong the young man is, while his greatest weakness being his general inexperience in most fields. Overall Duncan is a well-balanced individual who like most folks only wishes for a happier existence.
-Character biography:
At first glance, one would look to Duncan and see just a simple commoner of little importance or wealth. However, would many do not know is that life had not always been this way for the young man. In the later days of the Pact war, a family of rich merchants was given a new addition to their family in the form of a baby boy who they would name, Duncan. For five years Duncan had lived amongst his family's personal estate amongst the rolling hills of the nearby countryside. Duncan was never lonely, finding friends in both the Family servants and his fellow brothers and sister who he had plenty of. However, fate had different plans for Duncan's family when a large Pact raiding party of Orcs and Goblins had besieged the estate. Eldin Forrester, Duncan's grandfather and patriarch of his family had rallied the rest of the estate guard and his own personal men at arms and attempted to counter the raiding party. Yet this final defense ended with Breckenridge and his men being cut down and the estate being set aflame.
Having nowhere else to go and having heard of the city's taking in of refugees. Duncan's family made their way to the city of Barkamsted with only the clothes on their backs and the little wealth they still had in their purses. Even in the current day, Duncan remembers very little of the family's pilgrimage to Barkamsted and only truly remembers looking upon the city's gates as a small child. From there his family had begun a new life as simple farmers who every once in a while reminisced about the lives they once had. Duncan had found great success as a farmer and had spent most of his time with his father and older brothers in the fields.
As the years went by some of Duncan's brothers and sisters had come of age and "spread their wings". Duncan's oldest brother, Tommen had begun a stonemason who earned himself quite a living. While Kaija, Duncan's youngest sister had fallen in love with a roaming bard and had started a family of her own not too far from her family's farmstead. Duncan soon found that he himself was beginning to near adulthood with each passing day and was uncertain as to where he wished to go in life. While farming had been quite the learning experience for Duncan, he wished for something greater in his life and had spoken to both his father and mother, who had now been nearing fifty years of age respectively. They knew that their son had inherited the "Forrester's lust" which they jokingly stated must have been inherited from his now long deceased grandfather. The next day after a heartmelting farewell, Duncan had packed up a few days worth of food and set off on his own, with a new sense of freedom and lust for adventure.

You’re walking around the markets at around noon. There’s a lot of people around you, still gathering their items as they prepare to shut down their many stands. Suddenly you feel a gentle lifting of your coin purse as a child graces you and soon after they take off sprinting. You have been robbed.
Answer: I curse under my breath as I watch the child take off with my hard-earned coin. I try to give chase however with how crowded the marketplace was I quickly lose the child and silently pray that the child uses his coin for benevolent means.
Answer: I look upon the small family of wolves, and carefully make my way forward. I make sure as to not do anything that could be seen as threatening to the wolf mother. I would then try to free the mother from the trap and take my leave with my eyes watching the mother in case she tries to attack. I pray for the mother's recovery and the good health of her pups.

-Character name: Paige

Once it was opened, he ran away, letting nature deal with her now.

characters starting skill set): farmer/masseuse

This application is Denied.

Yes, I have played on Imperium a roleplay server set in 900 A.D. -Define Power-gaming in your own words: Powergaming to me is one of two things. It can be forcing an action upon a player such as /me kills Jeff. It could also be emoting powers that you do not have or would realistically be able to do. -Define Meta-gaming in your own words: Metagaming is using information you wouldn’t know, or information from ooc in character situations.

Character Occupation (optional, note you still must talk to the lord about loaning or purchasing any stall/shop for your character if he/she would have one. This more or less helps us to better understand your characters starting skill set): Priest/Monk -
Character description (At least one to two paragraphs describing your character’s visual appearance.): Ishmael would stand at 6’1, he would have a lean build. He would have an unkempt face. With long brown hair, and a scraggly beard. His eyes would be a piercing shade of emerald green. His face would be rather pale, considering the time he spends outside. He would wear a long brown habit, it would be tied around his waist with a piece of rope. He would be wearing sandals and have a cross resting upon his chest. Under his habit, would be a faint outline. Perhaps a bottle of rum, or a stolen item. He would carry himself with an outgoing appearance, always trying to make himself be a jovial figure. -
Character personality and traits (At least one to two paragraphs describing their personality traits and/or quirks.): Ishmael would be a Holy Man, or at least he would appear to be one.

-Do you have any prior roleplay-related experience, if so could you give an example?

-Character name: Jaya Jayamen

This application is Pending.
This application is Denied.

---IC Info---
-Character name: Duncan
-Character race: Human

-Please give us a short RP response to these two scenarios.

Answer: I curse under my breath as I watch the child take off with my hard-earned coin. I try to give chase however with how crowded the marketplace was I quickly lose the child and silently pray that the child uses his coin for benevolent means.
