The previous server owner had withdrawn every aspect of the server and disappeared, cancelling everything; I too, was on that server with my own contribution. I know how you feel, but I cannot honor that transaction here.
NO ONE BOTHERED TO TELL ME THIS WAS GOING ON?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?! ILL BE ON THE WEEKEND SOON MY FRIENDS, IVE MISSED YOU VERY MUCH!
During the summer, we built this in our timeframe; as school came and people became busy, it closed up to minimize costs.
We hopefully anticipate opening again during spring-summer - we have infrastructure, and we have backups.
It is my personal hope that we are able to reboot this project then. Everything is always a work in progress - nothing is ever perfect.
With that, I want to give my gratitude to all who helped us during that time - we know a scope of issues that plagued us post-release, and we hope to rectify those issues given that we open this project again in the future. We will be honoring previous donors and mapwide contributions if and when we do.
Alas, university is quite something. When I was on the original Spartacus 1.0, it was so much different from what we have all accomplished here. It was my original home server in Minecraft. Time does fly.
I hope to see you all in the future.

Best regards to you all, as always.

Oh my god... I am from the very original Spartacus... I am pman9. Anyone remember me? Also, please get this server back up asap, I would love to play on it again.
can we get some screenshots or sneak peaks of the server
but it is probably just like the old server right?
At this point in time, we have no "sneak peaks" underway; this is our time to take a step back (for many reasons, school and such being one of these), and evaluate what went well, and what could be improved.
After this reflection, we admins will try to rally in late spring/early summer to implement what we can. I know that among us, the pace of work is slowed, but I much emphasize quality over quantity.
The old server infrastructure has functioned excellently - I helped build it in a "slotted" fashion, meaning that components can be easily added and removed at ease. At this point, it is merely a matter of implementation, balanced and capable diverse staff, and time. With the new updates coming to MC, I see no issues in eventually transitioning the map over. 1.9 helps mapmakers in many ways!
We have many life events going on for all of us, you and I. Time is the factor. We hope to work on it by then, and to release a polished product. It took us quite a bit of time last summer to work on this project from the ground up, but we now have the baseline down to a letter. The best possible thing that could happen for us is if we had a good plugin manager on-board by that time. We even had Clash help us during this release! Building is no problem - its the soft side, the behind-the-scenes and all.

Hey there, pman! I remember you quite fondly. Always a pleasure to see you - original Spartacus best Spartacus. Dedicated faction never dies.
See the above, and any previous posts of mine. We hope to work on it early this upcoming summer break, and release it when ready!
Aww yiss, look at that old-new Spartacus. That was when Ovid and Co. were still around.
What I'm understanding is the server won't be released until the Summer, correct?
Then what is the point of this thread.
You're right - our timeframe puts us around the midst of summer. Even so, discussion and idea-sharing is encouraged. That is how improvements are made: comments, and feedback.
If you guys need any help with anything, just let me know. I'd love to help get the server up asap. <3
While not all, a majority of our issues stem from several plugins that need to be implemented correctly. If you are excellent with plugins, or know an individual who has exemplary plugin skills, I would be more than happy to welcome the help. Some examples of problematic areas were the mob arena, crate voting, and tidbits of the Rankup plugin.
That, and we are looking to repurpose and rebalance some of the map - make things a bit more streamlined and porous. Finish up the Free area, see what I can do to balance the economy using some of my own software, add post-Free experience, etcaetera. I've been both a player and an administrator on prison servers, and I can quite understand the feeling; the want and need.
We got a -lot- done this previous summer. The foundation and beams are set in place with some readjusting needed - now all we need to do is fill with concrete. I hope that you'll be around during that phase.

I appreciate the sentiment, 17. <3
Sadly I don't know anyone with the right amount of plugin experience, but for whatever else you need toget the server running smoothly, Let me know<3
As Doc Brown famously said in Back to the Future, ‘First, let me assure you that I am alive and well.’
Secondly, I would like to firsthand apologize on my unexplained, and sudden absence in late July of last year. An unexpected loss in my family, and the beginning of the fall semester caught up with me quickly, and I discovered how hard it was to find time to return to the server.
It was not fair of me to leave the server, the name of Spartacus, and more importantly, you, the player-base of Spartacus in such unknown, and uncertain hands.
Trent here has been maintaining contact on the forums. Hopefully, he has answered some of your questions in my leave.
Fear not, this does not mean we have abandoned the Spartacus: Resurrection server in the dust. This is simply a short period of time where we plan, arrange, and decide on how we are going to re-open, re-build, and create a new rebirth of Spartacus that we are hoping to have open during the early months of Summer this year.
We're going over some research of the evolving Minecraft server-base (with the advent of 1.9 and whatnot), and we will constructively reflect on the project when school ends for us. We will keep this forum updated periodically with updates of planning, development, and building once we start nearing the end of the 2nd fiscal quarter of the year, or the early months of Summer.
We are also discussing the successes and the issues that plagued the previous server - there were good parts, yes, but there were also flaws present (as with any project ever made, of course). As always, however, this is a project that molds and adapts; if something does not work, we step back and take a look at it from another angle.
I would like to personally thank you all for your patience - during the project's time, you have all been very supportive and offering of help. Trent and I started this as a team, and we will see it through with you all.
I named this server Spartacus: Resurrection for a reason. Resurrection is what I wanted to accomplish. A resurrection of the lasting bonds, relationships, friendships, and most importantly fun that the Spartacus name is famous for.
If you have any questions, suggestions, or comments, please do not hesitate to tell me or Trent personally.

Hey guys,
I was wondering if the server still runs?
Also wondering how you guys are doing
best regards

OPEN UP ALREADY AGAIN YA'LL PROBABLY SPENDING YOUR 400+ DOLLAR PROFITS ON PIZZA
I got a chuckle out of that - we'll open up again once we know we can.
Believe it or not, we allocated server money to be used -only- on the server.
Responsible server owners, what?!
