I'm trying my hand (for the first time) at modding the server I run for a few friends and myself, but I haven't been able to figure out how to do it. I don't want to rely on anything like hMod or Bukkit (which I'll have to keep updated on top of keeping the mods updated) and I don't mind doing everything manually but I can't figure out how. Whenever I open the minecraft_server.exe file with WinRAR to add in mod files (like I do with the minecraft.jar for single-player mods) and try to add in the mod files, I get an error saying the archive is corrupt. I've downloaded it several times now. Am I missing something? Should I be trying to open another file instead of the minecraft_server.exe? This is definitely not the most user-friendly thing to do; I haven't been able to find any documentation about it! Please help :-)
So, I apologize for my (now obvious) oversight. I missed the .JAR version of the minecraft_server file. That said, I've got the latest file (and the latest files of the mods I'm trying to install) but I still can't get them to work. I'm trying to get Moogle's Ramps, etc. Mod working, of course using his hack for MoreIDs for SMP. After adding in all the .class files to the minecraft_server.jar, the server started up perfectly and I was able to join it (localhost only, I'm on my laptop away from home so this is just testing) just fine, but neither of the mods are functioning. I opped myself and tried /giving an item ID which should have corresponded to one of the mod-added items, but got the error that no item with such an ID exists. I'm not sure what I did wrong; can anyone help out?
