I have recently had a lot of bugs where my server gets corrupted, but its usually the same one. I just recently fixed it, but now, my friends (who are far away) cannot connect using the external IP address. I can connect using the internal, but i don't know why they can't. They get "Connecting to server.." and they never make it. Just wondering if anyone knows whats happened. Thanks :biggrin.gif:
Who is your service provider? Most residential providers have whats known as a dynamic IP, which means it changes from time to time. Google "External IP Address" and there are many websites that will tell you your IP. Also, make sure in your server.properties, that your IP address line doesn't have an IP configuration, or it could block people from accessing your server.
Is your Minecraft Server behind a router? If so, make sure that A) the port is forwarded, and :cool.gif: that your computer didn't grab a new IP from the DHCP server on your router, if it did, I would suggest setting it to a static internal IP so it doesn't change.

Yeah, I know the IP didn't change, that was the first thing i checked, but what do you mean my 'service provider''? do you mean wifi? Linksys or something... My IP address line doesn't have anything written, and its port-forwarded. I don't know how i would check if i had a new IP from the DHCP server...
Sometimes you may think your port is already forwarded, but it may not be. Google sites that check if your port is 'opened' or 'forwarded'. If you think you did all the steps correctly and it says 'closed', it may be your windows firewall or a third-party program blocking the ports from being 'opened'. Try turning off these firewalls to test if that is the probable cause, and if it works afterwards, simply add the ports to the 'safe' list of the firewalls.
