Hi, for the past few weeks I've been playing on 2 servers mainly. One is mine that I pay for from Mcprohosting and the other is the MCPVP Hunger Games server. Some of the time these servers run very smoothly with little to no lag at all. Other times the block lag (sounds occurring late, blocks reappearing, pvp awful) is just horrendous. When I play hunger games in these conditions I hit someone one time with a sword and before I know it I'm dead when in game it looks like they are 10 blocks away. I believe this drastic inconsistency is because of my ping on the servers. Currently the ping for the Mcprohosting server is 3,500ms and MCPVP is 4,300ms. Speedtest.net says my ping is 177ms which I think is very good. So I have no idea as to why Minecraft says it is different. I'm not sure if my ping is the issue but it seems like it to me because when it is lower i get less lag. I also have 60-100 fps on max settings on most servers. I have 10mbps download speed and .3mbps upload speed. I play on a macbook pro and also the iMac in my house gets the same bad ping (and good) when i do. I've tried resetting my Netgear wifi and router with no luck. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. I want to play Minecraft when I want, not when my ping is tolerable.
its probably your upload speed and ping mine is 20down/up and 40-70ms ping
Yes, that could be a reason. I think I am going to contact my Internet service provider to see what they can do. The thing I don't understand is why it sometimes works well and other times is really bad.

It's not an fps lag it is block/sound lag.
