Nonetheless, let's try not to turn Minecraft into Super Smash Brothers.
Why not? You say that like it would be a bad thing... Of course it would be. Completely out of vanilla, but still amazing for a mod.
OT because I have to.
Change the size of the hotbar. What I mean is let you have more/less hotbar slots via options or gamerule. This wouldn't increase inventory slots, but just show more of them in-game
Not sure if it should be limited to creative or not, but that was mainly my intention. Lots of times I find myself building, but using more than 9 different materials, and constantly swapping between items is rather annoying.
Idea Farming isn't allowed when making a thread dedicated to a suggestion. THIS thread is the only exception as it is pinned for suggesting Small suggestions, therefore some rules don't apply to this thread such as wishlisting, vagueness, or what you assume, idea farming. Technically this thread isn't even dedicated for idea farming, as it's more on the lines of a Mega-Thread because you can come up with your own idea, or critique on ideas here.
This is true, it could also be because it was made before the idea farming rule was made, but there was a splash title suggestions thread or whatever in similar vein to the achievements suggestion recently, and it didn't get locked (or pinned).
But yes, this thread isn't idea farming. Idea farming is more in the lines of "I think villagers should have TWO noses! Tell me what you think the nose should look like, and what it should do in the comments below! See ya, me and my one post are never coming back to the forums!"
OT: Villagers should have TWO noses, their current one, and an invisible, untexturable and hidden one.
This changes absolutely nothing, so it's a good idea! Right...? Of course!
I am new to the game. Built a house on top of a mountain, with 2 sides open. no walls. with a walk out porch on open sides, and fence on porch. well lit, inside and out but I am getting mobs inside. The porch is too high far anything to jump in, maybe 6-10 blocks high. Can the mobs get in because the ope walls?
Hello, welcome to the forums, unfortunately.. This is the wrong area. I suggest checking out the 'Simple questions and Answers' thread in the discussions section for assistance. This thread is for adding ideas to the vanilla (Unmodified) game.
As for your question, I'm having a hard time visualizing your home, if you'd post some pictures in the Simple questions and Answers thread, however, I'd be more than willing to assist you there.
I would like to see the ability to add/edit/remove loot tables ingame with commands
I was kinda hoping we'd be able to do that, but currently, I find the way of making them now is much, much easier, as you can see all the loot tables in nicely organized loot table .JSON files, instead of a crowded, bulky chat screen that has no formatting, and is as much as an eyesore as walls of text.
I would like a Mobless mode for use on Creative Mode.
It's a pain when you're in creative mode on a superflat world and pigs or cows or sheep walk in your way.
You can use a command to kill everything, but then their drops are all over and they'll just respawn.
It's not bad in a normally generated world with a natural look to it, but I'l like to turn mobs off entirely for superflat builds.
I suppose it would add an interesting twist to Survival as well to have no mobs whatsoever.
Sure, there's no monsters, but there's also no meat to eat and no wool for beds.
You can do:
/gamerule doMobSpawning false
And for whatever mobs are still in the world, you can set up this command in a command block hooked to a redstone clock (Or repeating command blocks in 1.9)
/tp @e[type=!Player] ~ ~-1000 ~
This will kill everything but players without them dropping loot everywhere.
(You also might want to do /gamerule CommandblockOutput false)
What does the idea of holiday texture packs sound like? Minecraft has the Default Texture pack, perhaps during certain times, Mojang could provide Holiday-related texture packs and they would disappear after a certain day.
For example, on Christmas, Mojang could provide a texture pack with Christmas related festivities. And on Halloween, do anything Halloweeny!
(I may end up making a suggestion if you guys are intrigued by this idea)
Currently chests during Christmas turn into neat little present chests, and the splashes change for multiple special events like Halloween and birthdays, and I believe they did something similar on april fools once, so I don't see why this would be a bad idea, really. I think it would be pretty neat.
What? Sarcasm? No, no! This is something that absolutely needs to be added into Minecraft.
I watched the movie, and it's amazing!
I doubt he's being sarcastic, as it would enhance Minecraft for the better! I support it fully. /s
Ot: When skeletons aim their bows in 1.9, instead of their arms warping to aim, they move upwards in a smooth animation
But how would that be useful? You can't simply see anything while walking (Unless the GUI is put to the corner of the screen, but I prefer having it in the center), and it only takes a while to craft something, then exit the GUI, then go do whatever you want.
Mostly just was looking for an excuse to stay on-topic of the thread.
So I'm not sure, but I thought it was pretty neat at the time.
Maybe switching items mid-combat.
Yes I know you have a hotbar, but I often times have it full and need to switch between building blocks/tools and weapons. And I'm sure there are more scenarios where this would be helpful but it's 3 AM, not sure why I'm not sleeping right now.
TNT is kind of useless, as it doesn't drop all the blocks it breaks, making it awful for mining, mines are difficult to make with it, and are hardly useful because they only work once, and TNT artillery is only useful in faction PvP. It doesn't help that it's fuse makes it a bit too slow, and that using it for normal combat is difficult.
I like using it for quickly destroying temporary builds, or builds I do not like anymore/want to replace.
I suggest being able to walk around while having inventory/crafting/etc. gui open.
I believe this was in really old versions of Minecraft, but your arm spazzed out, and was eventually removed.
Probably been mentioned, but small blocks (the same size as mob heads) that are coloured to match stone/wood/wool/etc would be cool for extra detailing. As would the ability to place said blocks in 5 different quadrants of a "whole block" (top right, bottom right, top left, bottom left, centered). Would definitely run into problems with /fill though...
Also the whole floating carpets/slabs/etc thing never fails to ruin my mapmaking session. -.- You could make so many more small furniture type items if it would just anchor itself to the block. But I know that's definitely been mentioned.
1st part: This is entirely possible via commands, and custom heads. I think it's best to keep it that way. Mini versions of each block would be messy in the creative inventory, especially due to the way the Mojang staff "organize" it. If you look here(Shameless self advertising) I made a tutorial on how to make custom heads and have them keep their textures forever.
2nd part. Yeah, I think carpet should be treated like layered snow. And as for slabs, are you talking about like how two different slabs don't mix? If so, I've heard it's because of too many block types or something between the lines.
