Just finished stage 3! Damn pigs were a pain in the ass to find, and i've had 3 chickens get stuck inside the fencing, so I had to change that up a bit, but I'm finally on stage 3! Huzzah! I'll have a link up as soon as I can!
What do you do if you accidentally use iron in stage 2? And if your buildings are extraordinarily bad?
Don't worry about it. Even if they are pine boxes, so long as they meet the requirements, it's not the size or quality that matters. Most of mine are small, and un-furnished, aside from bed and crafting items. I'm a horrible interior decorator, so I just do what I can, and accept that I have little inspiration for furnishments.
In any case, I'm back on the CCC again! I'm SOOOO close to finishing phase 2. I'm on insane mode, and I have 1 more public building to make, along with hunting down some pigs, and then putting the bedrooms into the last 2 houses. After that, it's phase 3! And thusly, a crap ton of work with industrial craft and with Thaumcraft. Also, working on Ars Magicka stuff as well. Soo, peace!
Honestly, the impact that a portal gun will have is pretty negligible, I would think at least. Unless you can mine blocks like with a diamond pick axe (which even then, technically if you found it, it's still good). So no worries. Just portal your way to awesome! Also, I have finally completed my very, very first railroad! It connects my two towns together.
I generally consider any raw food that can be used to help make more animals a non-cooked food. So trade those carrots for some bacon! Or wheat for Steak and Wool! In any case, it's largely up to you, but my guide for "cooked" food is any food item that heals at least 2 loaves worth of food bar.
So now I get my Industrial craft on! Get some gold and redstone going so that I can finally make some more serious building stuffs, along with finishing the Railroad connection between my two cities. Then it's getting some iron together for a door, and making my way to the nether. 'Cause Lava is awesome, and so is nether ores! Which I basically will not be able to use since they are diamond grade or better...
But in any case, I'm off to get back to work! Kudos!
I have gotten a lot of work done on the market district, and I've had a few inspirational bursts. Most notably, the not so small market stalls area. I may decide to build more than 2 small houses there to help to "flesh" out the notion that there's lots of people hawking their wares there.
The two larger houses have "private" baths. Other than that, I'm still working on the liscensing office, but the basic build is done, just need to finish the construction, and then furnish myself a bunch of homes!
Also on the to do list is traveling north through the jungle to get a cow farm started. 'Cause I need lots of leather for books!.
This concludes my progress report. I'm still working on finishing the 3rd age. On a related note to the age; I wish I had redstone available. I've gone through around 16-17 stacks of sand at bare minimum. An Industrial Craft compressor would have greatly reduced the amount of sand needed .
Post Script: If you were wondering why I'm adding in small houses, it's because each "town" is going to have everything necessary to be a stage 1 minimum town. So that's multiple farms and additional small houses for every district. Since my towns won't have roads connecting them until I get my Nether on!
I plan on using the nether as a "fast travel" system. Put Nether Gates in each city, then connect those gates to their respective nether gates for ease of travel. (And less teraforming to boot!)
If you mean you are making a portal, then no. You aren't allowed to make a portal until you could harvest the obsidian (diamond tools Needed. 4th stage I believe). If you are in the 3rd stage, and by magic there is a lava flow that matches a portal perfectly... Maybe? That's kind of your prerogative, but just remember the rules posting in the OP. Follow those, and you should be reasonably set. It's one of the reason's I'm sad I've chosen the desert for my market city. I need a lot of sand, especially compared to using a compressor from Industrial craft.
It's been a ride. I've updated some of the mods, and I started a new map so that I could add in the rest of buildcraft's additions. It's going really swell, but I almost had a major dead stop...
I lost my dog...
I spent almost an hour trying to find him... I went in like, 9 circles of the cave system before I heard him woofing and almost lost him to a creeper :'(
But anyways, when I finish up the combination farming / mining district, I'll put up a video. I'm liking the wall I'm making, but the amount of oak logs necessary is just mind-bogglingly large. And the fencing is just nuts as well. But I like the way it all looks. And, even better, I finally have sheep farms, so I can start to actually outfit some of the houses with carpets & such!
The video! Current video of my CCC world (current world, that is)
Other than that, nothing to report at this time, other than being in the 3rd stage again.
And I am now going to stop, re-evaluate the state of my progress, and just calm down for a second. I died again, and lost my loots to lava. I also found, but didn't mine diamonds and redstone (which I need for sea-gates... Yes, that's right, sea-gates and sea-walls!). So in other words, I need to re-make a full set of gear, and weep for my lost loots EPIC . Other than that, I will be filling in the gaps as I make a second mine next to the quarry. The two will serve entirely different functions. The quarry just goes straight down from surface, and is more for the cobble than the mins. The mineshaft will be for the mins. And the entrance to it will be cleverly hidden. But not to you when it's completed of course.
@jabberman1 HOLY $*^# How did you come up with an idea like that? and the decoration too... Puts my building skill at like a 3/10 compared to you. Second EPIC
I hear ya, BoP is definately much better than ExtraBiomes!! I mean theres healing water!
Speaking of healing water, guess who just completed stage 3? This Steve! This will be a 3 video showing of the town, since I have the 3 districts somewhat separated. And also of note - IRON DOORS! You'll know why I say that by the end of the market video.
Hey Roland for some reason YouTube says its still processing that stage two video, I can't watch it :/
I'll Re-up it then. Seems when I tried to upload 2 at once I kinda broke it or something... Look forward to stage 3 completion by the end of this week!
Progress as follows:
The Licensing Hall is finished.
1 House is finished
Following are to do list items:
Clearing zone of shrub sized trees, bamboo forest
Road connecting Merchant District to Farming District.
Yeah. I'm going for more of a poor farming district. By the way, there are 2 religious "formations" for lack of a better word for them. I want to know if anyone has an idea of what they are. But yeah, dirt and bamboo were in short supply. Also, the idea of thatching for the walls kind of made sense at the time. Bundling bamboo into wall sections seems a decent idea, at least when you have colossal forest of bamboo. Anyways, the mining district will be mostly cobble walls and cobble/stone floors. Windows with glass on the larger structures as well. But the smaller ones will have fence windows instead of torch windows XP.
