Here is some screenshots of my SMP Dam creation. I recently got to a finished enough point that I thought I might share with the minecraft community some screenshots of it. I took much inspiration from Hoover Dam in the creation of this project. I would like to also point out that this Dam was made legitimately, I did not cheat and did not use an editor either, it was all done manually.

originally I dug out a huge square from surface to bedrock with some plans originally for buildings infront of the Dam. I eventually just remade a sloping landscape back up to the top instead:
Here are some night time shots, I love the look of the glowstones lighting it up at night, also notice my Lighthouse too:
Also another shot during day of my lighthouse:
To see inside of the Dam check out my video tour here.
yeah its made of sandstone for walls. I used clay for the floors to give it a concrete look and obsidian for the roofs inside. Wood framing around door ways and as support beams and such.
oh and the lighthouse is made out of iron, just thought I would add that in :tongue.gif:
It is an incredible creation :ohmy.gif:
But even if you had made it non-legitimatly i'd still be really impressed. I would never imagine building that with legit materials.
Kudos!
Would you be able to make a downloadable MCEdit schematic?
was really tricky, but its all hollow underneath. it was originally a big square hole with multiple square levels at different heights. I made stone pyramids coming off the walls and then covered the stone with dirt. I then added extra dirt randomly to hide the pyramid shape to make it look more natural.
WOW. I wish I was that great of a builder. Nice! How long did it take?
It took me 2 weeks of constant digging to make the hole and another 2 weeks or so to build the Dam and landscape, so about just over a month.
Thanks for all the positive replys, really makes my day to see people's reactions considering all the time and effort I put into it. I'm really happy it turned out so well.
Can you release? id like to add stuff to it :tongue.gif:
I'm not really keen on releasing it. I put alot of effort into it and don't want other people running around with my Dam on their servers just yet. but I'm glad everyone likes it so much that they want a copy of it.
Thats fantastic, just a month? very impressive.
I Like the fact the intakes work too, and the glowstones do make it look fantastic at night.
Nice one, Validtarget
Thanks, yeah I kinda lived on the game lol. that month was like playing all day just about. Its not the only thing I worked on in that month though. just out of sight is my huge 3 story wooden house and glasshouse(greenhouse) for growing my crops. I'm still working on a windmill and stables for my farm to finish the area off.

I'm not sure about that, maybe at a later time.
